I'm looking forward to finally getting this game! Finally found a reasonably priced copy of it on Ebay. Why I didn't get it back when the DS was a new console, I don't know. Maybe the stores I frequented didn't ever carry it. Must not have because I love Dig Dug. As a kid, Dig Dug was one of the few coin op arcade games that I could actually play for a long time on one quarter. I loved Dig Dug II as well and got fairly good at that one too. The versions on the Atari 2600 are pretty good for the time and still fun to play. I love, love the Nintendo DS! It and the 3DS are the best consoles that Nintendo ever made. I have a feeling that this game is going to be a lot of fun on the DS. Thanks for reviewing this one on the channel and reminding me of it.

I especially like that they went with giving Taizo Hori the same look he has in the Mr. Driller games. I never knew about this game! I am actually heavily inclined to hunt this down...!

I have not played this yet but I remember buying it when Best Buy did a massive clearance sale. Looks like this game was probably $2 very well spent. :D

The top screen sort of resembles "Dig Dug II" where you go around on these islands drilling sections of them to fall into the sea.

I would love to know how many Nintendo DS games have the subtitle acronym of DS. Because many games on the DS have this, you have Lunar: Dragon Song, Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword among many others.

yeah having the name of the console or handheld on the title of the game is definitely a nintendo thing for some reason they do that a lot.

I see you are running DS with a pretty bright screen setting. Maybe you did it just for the review but what I like to do is to run it on brightness setting 2 out of 5, which will greatly increase the uptime of the DS battery! =) (although the battery uptime is good on every setting)

Dig Dug sure is violent. Does he shot them with a gun? No. Does he hit them with a sword? Nope. He impales them with a hollow spike hooked up to a bicycle pump and then inflates their bodies till they explode.

They're not the same but they are related. I forget if it's Mr. Driller or Namco X Capcom that says it but apparently the Dig Dug guy is Mr. Driller's father.

Mr. Driller (Susumu Hori) is Dig Dug's (Taizo Hori's) son. His mother Toby "kissy" Matsuyo is the main character of Baraduke fame.

I'm sure he could afford one if he wanted one. Mark's off-screen setup is really polished though. No shaky over-the-sholder amateur hour here, which is most of the trouble with TY off-screen. His reviews give a very accurate representation of the game running on actual hardware, they don't seem compromised at all for lack of a capture function.
