Classic Game Room HD reviews the MAS NEO-GEO SUPER PRO STICK arcade joystick for the Neo-Geo CD, Neo Geo CDZ and Neo-Geo AES game consoles. MAS stands for Multi Arcade System and MAS is an American based company out of California that makes awesome, real arcade style controllers for a variety of game consoles. They have Super Pro Stick controlers for the Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Sony PS2, Playstation 1 and Neo Geo game consoles. Here's a look at the NeoGeo Super Pro Stick which works on the CD, CDZ and AES. A real arcade style joystick with 8-way controls and actual arcade buttons are ideal for fighting games on the Neo-Geo like Final Fight, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters.

Thao Nguyen answered the phone when I called MAS back in 1994 to order mine. He took advantage of the opportunity! Before the call ended I was buying a 33" Wells Garner RGB monitor, a Happ trackball, more Happ / Cherry switches, some supergun and some JAMMA stuff. If MAS is still around - he's the one.

At this point, it's probably much easier, and cheaper, to build one of these from scratch. Particularly if you want one for a common console, just strip out the innards from a Genesis, Snes and Nes controller and wire them up to a set of arcade controls in a control panel you can build, then just plug it into the console you want to use it on, it'd be awesome, and inexpensive.

I just got one of these today for my Neo CD. It's a blue mini MAS stick. It really does feel like the controls from an arcade cabinet. I just wish they made one for Sega Saturn.

I got one of those as well. Your lucky to be playing on a full stick as I believe that they don't make the full size for the neo-geo sticks anymore just the min size(30% smaller). It's a beast thats for sure.

One of the coolest, most epic, but excessive controllers in existence is the steel battalion controller. That thing is a beast. The game itself is not easy in the least either. If the thing wasn't so expensive and rare I'd get one.

That's because they are! This company's website states that they build cabinets, arcade system boards, controllers and such to have a home arcade, just like the machines in the arcades. And, in that field, their prices are quite reasonable. I typed this once, already, with a link. I think YT denied the post, because of it. So search for MasSystems. I had some trouble locating their site, based on 'multi arcade system' as search words.

That's one HUGE joystick! The joystick that came with the Neo Geo AES will work on the Neo Geo CD. I'd just use that, because I'd have no idea where to put something as large as this MAS stick.

Actually X-arcade does use Happ parts. I own an Xarcade dual stick, 2 Hot Rod SE's, and one I built from scratch and all have genuine Happ sticks & buttons.. Ifor some reason you didn't like them you could swap them out for a few bucks anyway. If anyone is considering this for mame, or other classic games such as pacman I would advise against it primarily becauase of the 8 way stick. I would upgrade it to a switchable (auto-mechanical) type 4way/8way for perfect gaming like you remember!

Does'nt that one also hook up to the actual SNK arcade cab?? The one I ordered does, it has the black sidings and does'nt have that MAS symbol. Stick to the official Neo Geo sites for this type of stuff, joysticks themselves are also upgradable when placing the orders...and also custimization of colors is an option for the same price.

+TeamKnockOut714 Not really, if you are looking for a 2nd arcade stick try doing what I did, buy a pelican real arcade stick then gut it and put in IL parts. in. you can buy cheap PCBs on ebay for $20 and you can find IL parts on website like focusattack and paradise arcade.

Ufortunately MAS SYSTEMS went out of business back in 2010. You can check on eBay or checkout various fighting game blogs to see if anyone are selling any.

never used a vectrex, but if the joystick is digital then its definatly possible if not EASY to make a arcade stick for it :) MAS sticks are classic, the whole street fighter scene used them way back before TE sticks and hori real arcade pro's were around

Yeah well what happened is Mark was interested in starting the show back up and at the time Dave (the other guy) was in another state and had just another life so to speak so he couldn't come back. Mark was trying to set up a episode where Dave could do a guest appearance or something but it hasn't happened. The closest to a original CGR re-union that happened was a multi-part interview Mark did with Dave a couple years ago that is on here.

All arcade joysticks should have concave buttons. There is no excuse. Convex buttons are okay, but concave makes them truly "arcade-like". That joystick actually looks well-made, for it isn't just plastic, it is rubber.

Both are very good, the official DC stick isn't real arcade parts, though, these will have real arcade parts, but they are much larger and the cost is pretty high. Your choice...
