I visit this game often on my PS2. It’s on Midway’s Arcade Treasures. The first release. Also has great bonus content with video interviews from the game developers.

There actually was a console release of this game on the Arcade's Greatest Hits, The Midway Collection 2 for the Playstation released in 1997.

This machine was at a pizza place down the street from me, back in the day, and I always assumed the difficulty was cranked up so they could get more quarters, because you'd be swarmed by enemies right off the bat and pretty much die immediately, every time, but after hearing this review, it's possible it was just the game, itself.

The arcades machines IMO is the best part of gaming. they have themes, button layout for the game. all original arcades machines are better than any actual controller. wish where i live (brazil) had more arcades.

this arcade game was pretty rare for me, there was only one place that i ever saw this game at and it was at a really sleazy and dingy kinda place that was mostly known for billiards, i never went there unless it was with friends and even then it was kinda awkward so unfortunately i wasnt able to spend much time with the game.

I didn't know there was a Joust 2 until I went on vacation back east circa summer 1993. Found a copy at either Hershey Park or Cedar Point (I'm not sure which). Didn't play it though.

There are a few reasons why this game wasn't popular. First was that it came out WAY after the original Joust. The four years in between J1 and J2 not only saw the great video game crash of 1984, but the launch of significantly more advanced 16bit games like Space Harrier and Outrun. Second, J2 was vertical. This creates a "funnel" like effect that is almost always advantageous for the computer, so it was f'ing tough to play. If J2 would have been released before 1984, it might have had a chance, but ultimately, it just wasn't as fun as the original and it was hella hard.

True, true. Joust 3 for 360/PS3! Budget download. On-line multi-player. Probably be in 3-D, like that Top Gun title. Just you and other players, flying around an ostrich or other winged creatures, battling it out in skies, filled with floating cliffs. One thumb stick to observe your 360 world in. Pounce others out of the sky. Only to look up and see a massive beast butt black out the world, entombing your player and mount into an egg...some things just shouldn't be in 3-D.

@abamfici Mark's reviews are very laid back and humorous. Most of the time he doesn't break the entire game down for the viewer, and you're not going to see a score or a grade given to the game at the end. Everyone else does that type of review, which is what makes them extremely boring in most cases. If you're looking for that type of review, you're not gonna find it on this channel.

@TronPachioftheDynamo If you weren't around for the era these games came from (and you aren't) no they won't look good and fun to you. But if you grew up in the time these games came out, you enjoyed them for they were cutting edge at that time. I myself played Joust 1 in the arcade a good bit, but sadly didn't get to play Joust 2 till many many years later, I rather enjoyed it, and now own Joust 2 on a PS 2 and PS 1 collection, along with the original Joust. Also have it on NES, not as good.
