Classic Game Room reviews MOUSE TRAP for Atari 2600 from Coleco and Exigy, a Pac-Man clone with a mouse and cat and dog (but no hawk).

Mouse Trap is one of those 2600 titles that at first glance it looks like a short played pac-man clone. Although once you have played a couple rounds you'll get hooked!

This was actually one of my first Atari games. Mouse Trap and Donkey Kong were pack-ins for the Coleco Gemini, which was what I got for Christmas instead of a 2600.

Really like the 2600 version of Mouse Trap! Its simple and fun. Although, have you ever had that problem where you needed to turn into a dog... but opened a door instead?

I will never forget the Christmas when we got a 2600 console with Space Invaders ,Pac Man , Combat and Mouse Trap.

I do remember when I was a teenager a German Shepherd had escaped the nearby air force base and was in town killing cats. I was walking to the store and found where it had killed and partially eaten a cat on the sidewalk. Pretty horrific sight. Weird thing was that I found out it had came into our yard (several blocks away) and let my mom pet it before running off, the MPs in hot pursuit. One told her what it was and she was kinda surprised. Even more so when I told her what I saw.

even today 30 year later I get excited to see a new atari game I never played due to still having that feeling of " oh maybe this game will be awesome like the cover art" then playing it and go . man its just a box or triangle shooting dots again. But the excitement of wondering is unlike any other video game system

I gust picked up this game to add to my collection of old classics Atari 2600 games I grew up playing (I got the red cartridge)! I still have my old system and a couple others I picked up along the way. I noticed the holder you have your controller in I also have a set of those complete with the red ball topper for the controller those are really rare to find these days!

the Atari version is smoother and the sounds are crisper than the Coleco version. But the Coleco version had more colors and annoying music so if that's your thing...

I found that the coleco and Intellvision versions were a little tougher as you need to remember the buttons to push on the keypad!

I remember everyone wanted to play Pac-Man, whether at the arcade or a hand-held or home video, so clones like those mentioned were played heavily, as well as the Atari version. Still, there was a disappointment factor, plus Atari made 1+ million more Pac-Man carts than consoles that they'd already sold, so they put themselves out of business.

I miss you playing new games bro... I love old school too, but I miss the old format....... When you have the videos of "console wars" ... "blank" vs "blank".. you are neutral... we get it, I am too.. but they get repetitive and boring. I am a fan and will always watch your new videos.. just pointing out.. We need old school videos.. We need a year ago videos of you in the "real" intergalactic space arcade." You upgraded, we get it. You can still have your set the same. I feel like I am in a friends garage and I am not feeling it. The set a lot of times reminds me of being drunk and lost and my buddies house who has a old style jukebox in his basement.. It is awesome and I want one, but do I want to forever listen to the "jukebox of doom" ..no, no I do not.
