Gotta love the vectrex version, it' has an overlay to go straight only, when you turn left or right you gotta switch the overlays!

Mark, you are like so awesome and so is this game. It reminds me of the things I've seen. Things you people wouldn't believe: Lord Karnage in a Ferrari on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched Lamborghinis glitter in the dark near the Nürnbürgring. All those ... moments will be lost in time, like tears...in a pool of mud you just drove through in an El Camino!

Got it first for PSP and loved it so much I got the PS2 version as well, you can transfer data between the two, so when you are out you can still continue earning miles on your PSP and later transfer them to your PS2 =)

Best looking game on the PS2 in my opinion. The framerate gets a bit jittery when you unlock the fastest cars but it's pretty flawless other than that.

@francotron2000 OutRun made me a T-Square, Casiopea and Dimension fan. Since you mentioned one, you should check the other two ;) OR2 is one of the best games the last gen had, one of the best SEGA games I've seen as of late. I still think that with some improvements Outrunners could've become OR2, this one becoming OR3. I don't want to wait another 20 years for a 3rd official sequel...

It's still affordable on PS2 but is going up a bit. I just got it on Xbox for 5 bucks because the disc and manual were in a regular Outrun 2 case. It's getting pricey and harder to find on Xbox.

I have this game on PSP, and although most critics at the time said it's just as good as the console versions, I find it has a low framerate that kills the experience...

There is one stage in this game where I have trouble not crashing: the Space Shuttle stage with those bunker things as obstacles right in the middle of the road.

This is one of the best outrun games, I have both the ps2 and the psp version. Is sad Sega doesn't renew the Ferrari license because for the PS3 and the Xbox live arcade they release the OutRun Online game, but in PS3 the release just got to UK and then it was discontinue due to license. Blame you Sega and Sony for not releasing it in US.

Awesome game this, deffo one of my faves. Sega need to keep releasing arcade games on consoles! daytonna 2 and scud race be nice...... I have outrun 2006 on xbox and ps2: the xbox version having the superior controller (gotta have analogue triggers for racers. Shame sony fucked up on the ps3 with shitty trigger design)

surely drifting is the whole point? how can you say it's an issue when games like forza and gtr cater for realistic racing... but the problem with those games is that your not really driving a car. Outrun knows it's a video game is about escapism, fun, style and Casiopea(awesome band if you like splashwave) style music. I think it's outrun is very pure and just a beautiful quick trip, just kick back and drift into the sunset.
