It is a really fun game but it does get REALLY tricky on later levels. Picked up a physical copy for less than £20. Bargain!

Got it for $3.48 on a PSN sale. I gotta say it... I think it's my favorite version of Pac-Man. And I have Pac-Man and Dig Dug downloaded on my PS4 as well. I even platinumed Dig Dug! There's just something more engaging about this game for me over the original Pac-Man. The original is a classic... but it's also slower. This one is razor sharp and a mile-a-minute... and watching those scores rack up like crazy when you munch down a train of ghosts feels SO satisfying! One of the best 3 bucks and change I ever spent.

Yeah, it's really jarring at first but it really grows on you after a while. The 2-player mode reminds me of a more cooperative throwback to the 2-player mode on Tengen Ms. Pacman and is a ton of fun, even if you're playing it by yourself. Speaking of NES versions of Pac-man! If switch owners have the first Championship edition "itch", Namco Museum Archives Volume 1 on the Switch includes a BANANAS "de-make" of the first Championship edition using the NES ROM! It is incredible and I highly recommend picking up the collection for that alone. And of course Pac-man 99 is absolutely brilliant, combining features from the original Pac-man, Championship Edition and Tetris 99, I'm very addicted to that, although I wish score-attack had an endless option. Once you achieve the Billy Mitchell score, you can't progress further unfortunately. Pac-man fever is definitely still running through my veins after all of these years!

Yeah absolutely, Pac-Man 99 is my favorite Pac-Man game as it has the satisfying trains of Championship Edition with the competitive survival of Tetris 99! Plus I find Pac-Man 99 to be a lot easier than Tetris 99. With Tetris, you basically had to do t-spins to win. In Pac-Man, anyone has a shot as winning, especially with the awesome customizable power-ups! While Pac-Man 99 is my favorite, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is a close second! It takes DX and makes it better with more epic music, sounds, speed, and strategy! I was blown away by the presentation of the game and I keep going back to it again and again! The two-player mode is great as well with different ghost mechanics and seeing both Pac-Men jump off the maze, fly, and inhale an entire parade of ghosts never gets old!

Awesome review! Is there a multiplayer mode? Also, not sure what the name of it is but there was an arcade game where you could play multiple players and it was really, really cool. Maybe you could review that also for PAC-Man Month?

Dustin Nunn It’s way worse than the updated first game (CE1); too much extra everything. The first added just enough to not ruin the core gameplay. This is just visual overload.

Abby and Hannahs Dad xxx it really is, but Mark's right you have to play the game from the beginning to understand the mechanics. There are lots of ways in which the game mitigates the blistering pace to help the player but you need to be 'in' the game to see how they feel. :)
