It's an incredible crime against the industry that this game is so buried in obscurity. Say what you want about the horrible voice acting or the apparently bad storyline, but the concept alone of getting a Pacific Rim-style giant robot fight FROM the perspective of a human character on the ground (giving you a sense of scale) makes this a game that deserves a next-gen remake. How awesome would that be, really? Playing as a human character and witnessing giant robots demolish the environment in an epic and realistic way that only next-gen hardware could accomplish (i.e. Shadow Of The Colossus, but with fully destructible urban environments), but you also have the ability to call for, command and even pilot a giant robot yourself? It's takes the awesomeness of witnessing a giant monster fight on the ground and combines that with participating in one as well! There's a lot of gameplay variety/challenge that you could have between simultaneously controlling a human character and a giant robot, but I'm not going to go into that. Plus, it would avoid a problem that I have with a lot of giant robot games in that there would actually be a sense of scale to the robots (they feel big and heavy like Pacific Rim) instead of just re-skinning a 3rd-person hack-n-slash with tiny buildings!
@Valchrist131310 жыл бұрын
I also opens up a lot of strategy elements in multiplayer. This game was at it's strongest when playing split screen with a friend. Should you attack his robot next? Maybe you will knock down the building your opponent is on so he can't control his robot. Maybe you will grab your opponent in your mighty robot fist and swing him in to the nearest building. Toss in some player character customisation, and you could have very flushed out online gameplay.

Always one of my favorite games of all time on the PS2. You know I've been looking for it for a really long time now, and finally found it. This great really bring up a lot of good childhood memories, sweet memories from more than 10 years ago. Thank you sir! Now I can go look it up and download it to finally play it one more time. I just have to point out the graphics. Lol back in its time, I didn't see the graphics like I see it now. I mean that was great graphics back then, there was no HD or Full HD or 60 frames like now lol how time really passes

I was four years old playing the R.A.D. demo I got from the PlayStation Magazine during the late 90s, early 2000. At the time, the havoc was all too real for me; then I realized Grandma had to be saved to get anywhere in the game... Of course being a demo, and upon finally saving her, the trial quickly ended. Fun times! Bring it back!!!!

For fucks sake... why do studios piss away money making "pacific rim DUH VIDJA GAYME" When they could've followed a formula like this...
@smeghead6669 жыл бұрын
+smeghead666 Played it for the first time about a month ago, my god it is awesome, sure the controls are clunky but that just makes you feel like so much more of a boss when you pull off an awesome series of moves, the gameplay is absolutely fucking awesome and would go very well into a pacific rim style game. Then the story... sweet mother of fuck this is some twisted wierd japanese shite. We follow a 17 year old boy, who was once previously engaged (dafuq?) with a girl who now works for a search and rescue organisation. The girl herself is also concerned that some other pigtailed schoolgirl is now also engaged with the 17 year old schoolboy who owns a mega coorperation that fights with giant robots... The awesome robot fighting is only broken up, sadly, by the hilariously ridiculous shite of going to school and doing shopping for our lil "nanao". So if you like fighting with giant robots ala pacific rim or you enjoy purchasing used underwear off the internet to sniff this is certainly the game for you.

Sandlot has always made cool and unique games. I agree, this one does deserve a sequel, with more modern graphics. Even a Wii version would be great, if you could throw gigantic punches with your Wiimote. It's a shame that nobody's even bothered to copy this game idea, and perhaps even improve upon it.

There's an option for simplified walking controls. Also, the tutorial only progresses after you complete each maneuver, so if you don't do one of them, you can wander around the city forever without anything attacking you and just get used to controlling the robot.

With Next gen HD 1080p Graphics, more diverse enemies, more features (robots, weapons, etc.) and slightly better combat this would be the best game EVER!!! If R.A.D. 2011 (let's say) came out and they didn't change anything except for what I said. You have the best game ever! Way ahead of its time. Controls, view, sense of size, depth, environment and destruction and immersing (funny) story, it was great! Slightly repetitive but, AMAZING! Wonder how it would look on my Samsung 55" LED? Not good?

@CGR + @mastershinobikakashi + others that mention the bridge. 1 aspect of the controls that weren't mentioned is u can jump. Press L2 + R2 together and your meganite crouches, then press both L1 + R1 together and it jumps. That's usually how I got around the city. jumping. much faster than walking. :D
