Dunno if anyone has said yet. But if you open the machine by the coin slot theres a lever u can click and it thinks u inserted a coin. Also on the left of the pgb board there are toggle switches and one is for freeplay, can't remember which but there are 4 slot manuals online. More convenient

I don't know if anyone has said it yet but the monitor just need to be adjusted. That rollover should be just a pot adjustment. Also, some times the 4 slot are funny and will not see a cart and the easy fix is to just pull them out and resit them. Hope this helps and congrats on your first NEO GEO MVS, I have 2 myself. great system.

You're correct about the picture rolling. That's exactly what is happening. My TV repair knowledge is wicked rusty, however there should be a vertical shift that will move the screen down. Best get someone with at least some basic electronics knowledge to look for it to make the adjustment.

I have a NEO GEO 4 Slot machine, myself. The voltage coming from the power supply usually needs to be exactly +5 volts... NEO GEOs in particular can be finicky about getting any variation from five volts. Check your power supply with a multimeter to see what your current voltage is and adjust the voltage pot/knob.
@CaptainVideoBlaster12 жыл бұрын
Looks like the problem is with machines gizmotron.To fix it you will need passive ray phase driver. With that switch the ultrascan port diodes 1 and 2 from "optical array matrix" into "multi feed pulse" -stages. If that does not work, you might need to install beer holder into the machine.
@JohnnnyJohn12 жыл бұрын
I don't know this Luke, but one thing I do know is that the force is strong with this one.
@vintageclubjunkie12 жыл бұрын
You can also set your NEO GEO up for Free Play via the series of dipswitches on, I believe, the lefthand side of the board. Check a manual for which dipswitch needs flipped for your particular MVS board.
@95ACM12 жыл бұрын
As mentioned by others, it could require capacitor replacement on the monitor board (cap kit) or the vertical adjustment needs some fine tuning. Find the small potentiometer knobs on the monitor or the remote board and get to work.

For the monitor you could ether replace it or it could just be a couple of wires cut off a little or just send it to Luke if possible and for the marquee just take the bulb out and put a battery power lightbulb in there for the humming I really don't know send a an animal like a raccoon or a squirrel. Anyway I watch everyday and you is what inspired me and my friend to make and arcade machine or cabinet by scratch hope I get to play some cool classic games with you in the classic game room

Mark, Looks like you need a cap kit done on that monitor. That should fix it right up. If you've never done one yourself and you can barely use a screwdriver, then find someone out there that can re-cap it for you. Should be nominal cost.

To fix the top vertical overfold you need to tweak the vertical size setting first. There's probably a remote board close to the monitor if you open the control panel. Then you have to replace the capacitors, which is called a cap kit. That's because the capators value change over time and can generate many issues, like overfolds for instance. Cap kit, look it up.
@kuntosjedebil11 жыл бұрын
Try to move the picture vertically downwards. CRT screens usually have screws which manipulate the picture position.
@indydriver8012 жыл бұрын
This is far more compelling than anything else in the world.
@timberwolves1008 жыл бұрын
The monitor could be going bad or it could be a really easy fix. There should be hardware knobs that adjust the horizontal and vertical screen position. It looks like the screen is folding over because the vertical setting is too high. If the monitor is going bad, changing these settings might not be enough.

looks like a monitor sync issue. Not the board but the screen itself. Years ago I tried hooking up an AES via RGB to an old arcade monitor but there was a problem in getting it to sync right. Turns out the home units dont have the same vsync that the arcade boards do. Or at least that is what I seem to recall. Mark...get yourself a new monitor. Maybe from another NeoGeo.

The image at the top of the monitor being flipped over is an easy fix. All you need to do is take a hacksaw and gingerly cut the top half of the monitor off, flip it over, then use hot glue to secure it in place.

Monitor issue is V.AMP issue. Find pot marked v amp or v size on back and adjust, see if it goes away when image is smaller. If not, a re-cap (cap kit) will likely sort this, its a simple common fault. Do not LCD this cab.
@stellarola12 жыл бұрын
Mark, You'd be surprised to find that BYOAC.org forums has a ton of great information about monitors, arcade pcbs, controls, wiring and more. The forum members are fairly warm people, as much as people on the internet can be. Give them a shot. Also, it looks like your "v-sync pot" may need some tweaking.
@AlexDroog7112 жыл бұрын
The vertical may need to be adjusted on the back of the monitor.
@electronash12 жыл бұрын
Yep, the vertical size / vertical position is set too high. The electron beam is bouncing off the edge of the tube and causing the image to "foldover". Nice vid though. Well done, Luke! (I wonder where he got the RAM chips from? Same part numbers, or equivalents?)
@Diskoboy197412 жыл бұрын
I accidentally hit send.. The capacitors in your monitor have dried up. It's actually an easy fix if you can solder. Just replace all the capacitors on your monitors PCB, and your monitor will look like new! I've performed this fix on many a monitor. Nintendo monitors are notorious for their caps drying up.

There should be ajustments on the back board of the monitor for H hold Vhold brightness color some will be small "POTS" where you have to use a phillups screw driver to ajust others will be just like small dials. It looks kinda ike the H-hold(Horizontal hold) Is out of ajustment.
