Great video! really useful, however, I'm having a problem with a different, but still a lucas wiper motor. works fine on the bench but seems to lose all its power when moving the blades (can barely move both wiper arms without me helping it). ive cleaned and greased all the same parts as this video, aswell as the wiper drive cable and the rest of the components. coil doesnt look burnt out either. Long shot but do you have any advice about this?

Hi, do you have a model number. Just in case I have any bits floating about. I know a bit about old Mini and Land Rover wiper motors if that`s your problem.

Is the armature catching on the field coil. Sometimes when I`ve stripped one down they catch a bit. Could use a soft hammer to try and get it to work. Sorry all I can think of.

Could tell me what kind of grease and oil should be used on a Lucas wiper motor?

I just use stuff I get from work. Don`t think it`s anything special. And I use spare car oil in my oil can. I will have to look into it. I guess it has to be good with bronze bearings. And heat is not a problem.

@@damianbutterworth2434 Thank you very much! I just pulled the motor (DR3) from my '64 E-Type. I'm going to clean the exterior and then take the rest of the day off...getting the wiper mechanism and the motor out has resulted in a long day! I might get some time to work on it this week, and I'll open it up for the first time then. This is all new to me, and I really appreciate the help. (I'm here in the Colonies on the other side of the Atlantic BTW...)
