thanks Keith.. removing anything has proven to be rather simple. Let's hope the same applies for total disassembly and reinstall..

would recommend fitting a quick release collar for the gear selector pins when you rebuild👍......makes service life a little easier in the future.
@LoneStarMini3 жыл бұрын
Hey Now Robert!! I don’t know what this ‘quick release collar’ is, but I will try to figure it out. I assume it has the same diameter of the pin.... thanks for the tip

Randy, minispares, part number MSG13, did this replacement on my sons cooper and it works great, saves having to beat out the pin for future service.

Well done Randy. That mini spares pot joint tool is amazing. My work colleagues bought me one for my birthday a few years back.
@LoneStarMini3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kevin... I failed to mention one little detail that perhaps may be of use. I think (not sure) that the rectangle block on the side of the pot joint tool acts as a ‘measurement in that the total width of the tool defines the exact distance needed before the pot joint tool separates...

@@LoneStarMini oh no I only got half of the message - total width of what ? :) :) :)

Nice job, did this myself last year for the first time. All good fun when you get your head around everything👍

I am rather excited to disassemble the entire engine and learn... did you get your engine back together and running well?
@jamesbarrie29653 жыл бұрын
Engine’s still under the bench, will get it stripped when the car goes off to paint
@LoneStarMini3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesbarrie2965 I have to begin tearing mine down because it will most likely take me a good bit of time just to find the right help to work the engine block.. mini engine specialists are not as available as you might have access to.
@jamesbarrie29653 жыл бұрын
Good luck with the strip down👍
@MiniPerformance3 жыл бұрын
you made that look easy Randy! , they dont often come out that easy!! I think having the head off helped with exhaust clearance as I usually have to move the LCB out of the way to get space. The engine mount nuts and bolts can be undone without taking the weight with the crane, it may tilt a small bit as you undo them but its not really going anywhere.
@LoneStarMini3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rich... Yes, I figured I could remove the engine mounts w/o the hoist, but the last bolt would have a good bit of weight on it. With the engine hoist taking some load, they came out wonderfully easy. I did not even have to tilt the engine as I expected. Now I get to learn and tear it down...

those are not steering linkages, they are drive shaft or half shafts.
@seancorneliusbutters6352 Жыл бұрын
how did you detach the wheels?
@LoneStarMini Жыл бұрын
Only via the pot joint on the drive shaft. My wheels are still there so I can roll it around the garage
