Another great video. I’m a panel beater, I work on modern cars every day with high strength steels, that can’t always be welded. They have to be bonded and riveted or mig brazed. Love the old cars where the metal can be cut and bent and mig welded. I always enjoyed working on cars in the 80s. Probably why I enjoy your videos so much. Keep em coming 👍

Back in the 70’s i had a number of minis, i had a van, a 998 cooper, 1071 coopers s and a 1275 s. They are great fun, i fancy doing one now but they are silly money for really rusty ones. Hi! Ah thanks for the message, I’m pleased you got the hat, it should stretch after wearing it a few times. My wife said if it’s still a bit small after you’ve worn it a few times you can make it a bit bigger by dampening it then putting it on something a bit bigger than your head, maybe a ball or a cooking bowl and when it drys it will have stretched out. To be honest though after I wore mine a couple of times it was much looser. Hope this helps. Take care 👍👍

Hi! Thank you for your comment. This is something I covered in previous episodes, it’s something that will be changed along with the added drip rail, it is quite a simple bit of fabrication that is needed. In comparison to some of the work we’ve already done this will be quite easy. The project is far from finished so there is a few things left to do yet. Cheers 👍

Hi! Thank you 👍👍 yeah definitely going to make those changes on the inside, I need to make some Cant rails to fit the Mk1 headliner, and I also need to get the switch panel from a Mk1 to make a template for the front parcel shelf, apart from this the parcel shelf is the same as a Mk1 isn’t it?

You're taking "chilled out " too literally! 13 C all day in Teignmouth ! At 4mins 13secs those bags ...do you really need that much filler or is it another powder to finance the build ? 😂😂 Now at 4mins 32secs l saw you fitting the tie bar from front to back . 20 odd years ago l used a rotisserie for the first time on a Lotus Cortina Mk 1 and the car was ready for primer. So the inverted car was carefully moved into the booth. Unfortunately l didn't realise the front to rear needed bracing . There was a steel channel at the front of the booth about an inch high and when the front hit the channel the back kept going !! 😨😨😨 3 days later after some pretty hefty repairs it was ready to go again , this time braced from front to back!!! I went on to completely restore a number of these very valuable cars including Jim Clark's own car ! Great stuff , very enjoyable . Looking forward to seeing your apprentice back on the tools !😂

Hey! that’s not a stupid question at all, completely reasonable. Mk1 and mk2’s are getting very rare and expensive, but mainly we wanted the challenge of converting a newer shell to a Mk1 to see if it could be done or to see how much work would be involved in doing it. Plus documenting it as we go as it’s something that hasn’t been done before. Cheers
