A better soundproofing solution is a closed cell foam (ie not water absorbent) with a facing of high density mass loaded vinyl.

Do you have link or product name for sound proofing felt or foam w. mass loaded vinyl? I'm looking to do my Mini....already has Dynamat asphalt vibration on the floors but no foam/underlayment for the carpets.
@andrewb3497
@andrewb3497 4 жыл бұрын
@@TornadoCAN99 I am in Australia so got my product from Carbuilders but do a Google search for "Mass Loaded Vinyl Soundproofing for Cars" and see what is in your local area. As you already have the Dynamat you may only need the closed cell foam so search for "closed cell foam car soundproofing". In North America try : www.secondskinaudio.com/ - both their sound blocking and sound absorbing products seem equivalent to what I used.

Thanks for the comments JSquire.. Well I did not consider it , but if that is of interest I could. Anyhow , this is a VDO 100mm electronic Rev counter (RPM). The only thing you need to connect is the +12V, a ground , and the sense wire which needs to go to your High Voltage Coil, the side that connects to your distributor braking points.. and of course two bulbs inside meter, connected to your running lights. That is it, you should drill a whole of 100mm and then fit it... Once all that is done , you will need to set the cylinders, through 3 toggle switches... and in this case to a 4 cylinder... here is a link vdo-webshop.nl/nl/toerentellers/1272-vdo-cockpit-international-toerenteller-8000-rpm-52mm-12v-4103590925350.html

That looks very nice, a fun car to drive, it is a pity we are burdened with so many pointless and silly regulations, I think that in most European countries the wheel spacers are no legal, wheels you may get away with if they are fitted as factory standard on later cars, even a full race seat harness is not road legal in UK? Although if it is good enough for extreme racing that would seem odd? Stay safe! Chris B.
@D3Sshooter
@D3Sshooter 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments, and indeed Chris lots of silly rules that make no sense . But what can we expect from politicians, not a lot of logic... as we all know. Same here for the spacers, they need to go off for the MOT... and guess what we all do, put then back after it.... so why not accepting approved / marked spacers ? That would be at least some thing wise... Same for the harnas. You might recall the super seven ( blue car -dax) , that had no wipers , so it failed on the MOT... Nobody will drive this im the rain as it is a fully open car... never the less I need them. I did not install them , I took of the windscreen, and no windscreen no wipers... It passed ... figure that out..... big flies and debris that hits your eyes, or heavy wind that obscures your vision while driving is NO issue, yet a windscreen without wipers.... that is an issue

@@D3Sshooter ahah tahts nothing...i live in Portugal and have a work van that always passed with a cracked chassis, but when i welded it they failed it because welds are not allowed in structural members of the car...solution was to aplly underseal to disguise the weld....other stupid things include: doesnt matter if shock absobers are blown, they only measure the difference between left and right shocks so if both are equally bad, than thats OK... lowering springs and any aftermarket part is prohibited etc etc etc... its the stone age

looking good. can you look in you mot test book in a library? you can england. there was a lot of things in ours when i use to be mot tester that you would not think that was a pass but it is. like you only needed one seat belt in the rear of car. but it has more than one fitted and one of them is faulty its a fail. not sure it its still the same been a while since i have done it
@D3Sshooter
@D3Sshooter 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments Mike , I have the regulations and rules on what they should inspect, what is allowed and what is not. But often , the inspectors have their own views and interpretation.. I always have the regulation with me for a MOT and I have had instances that I had to point out that they were not to inspect certain elements on Old -timers.. In the odd case , I needed to call his supervisor out, at the end they had to admit . Using a cheap excuse " the regulations change so quickly that we often can't follows "
@mikedoblo4782
@mikedoblo4782 4 жыл бұрын
@@D3Sshooter yea the rules are in my (the testers opinion) so it comes back to the tester if you pass something that causes an accident. but when i passed my tester exam they said i was working for the government in an unofficial way. also was told to try keep my failure rate under 50%
@D3Sshooter
@D3Sshooter 4 жыл бұрын
@@mikedoblo4782 thanks Mike , and as a tester you are always the bad guy. Although you follow the regulations, in many cases the regulations don't make sense... and yet you need to adhere to it... Its kind of strange that there is an advice on the failure rate ... What does that mean, bad cars can pass ? See that is something I never get from governments and regulations. Obsolete rules and besides to point , created by politicians, and other vital aspects that are not checked or regulated ... Instead of a proper technical guidance with acceptance of variations as long as it is safe..and no 50% rules...
@mikedoblo4782
@mikedoblo4782 4 жыл бұрын
@@D3Sshooter i think the 50% is so you just do not fail every car and make money from repairing it, my fail rate was above 50 for along time and i had a few visits from vosa but i think i was just unlucky with the cars i tested. most cars i failed was due to coil spring being broken. There is a lot silly rules. i did like the dirt rule. if a vehicle is to dirty you can refuse to test it witch i did on a few land rovers customers were not happy but i said i can not check brake pipes, chassis etc when its covered in mud
