Keith, great video mate. I was raking about in the bottom of my companion bins today when I was fitting temporary speakers to the thirty and my car was swimming in waxoil or something similar. The previous owner had new inner and outer sills fitted (correct type/ nae covers) and it was good to see the repairer took the time and effort to cut out all the rust and protect the new metal from future corrosion. Like you I'm old skool and have always used waxoyl so I may give the Techni stuff a blast. Sean

Keith, Top video, i think when you cut off the flutes on Vini and showed how good it was underneath having had wax oil protection is the proof of how affective it really is! Let me know when your coming to Vienna, Cheers Dave.

Open and honest! There's nothing wrong with easily, it's just heavily dated technology. Bilt hamber dynax is superior though. Great stuff.

Good suggestion. Going to do mine tomorrow

Morning Keith great work, I need to do the same on my Mini. But this Mini don’t have these access holes on the side glove box and none by the seat belt brackets. Please advise how could I spray that wax? And which brand are you using please? Thanks
@classicminiworkshop5 ай бұрын
Bilt Hamber Dinitrol S50 is about the best you can get. If you don't have the access holes, just poke the probe up the sill flutes. The tube is long enough to get where you need to

Thanks. Convincing.

Oldschool is goldschool 😌 but should the sills be cleaned out first? Otherwise the dirt will hold moisture causing it to rust? And how do u clean out the sills? Cheers in advance 👌
@classicminiworkshop4 жыл бұрын
Yes, if they are dirty but unless you have driven through a swamp they should be clean inside. It's worth checking though
@Kevmrtwo4 жыл бұрын
@@classicminiworkshop thanks for the reply 👌 how do u clean the inside of the sill tho? Kind a hard to reach... 😂
@classicminiworkshop4 жыл бұрын
@@Kevmrtwo Not sure, I guess you could probably use the same setup for spraying in cavity wax using a compressor to a spray gun with the insertion probe and use detergent instead of wax, or if you could get the car high enough or crawl around on the floor with a pressure washer. Apart from rust, I've never seen it dirty inside a sill. I have seen the flutes get blocked up with mud before though
@Kevmrtwo4 жыл бұрын
@@classicminiworkshop thank you! If its rusted inside, i probs should grind it all out weld a new one (or just a sheet) and treat it with your stuff right? Because this stuff doesnt treat rust?
@classicminiworkshop4 жыл бұрын
@@Kevmrtwo I don't think this stuff treats rust but I think the more expensive denitrol has a rust neutraliser

Would you spray this waxoil along the 4 edging strips on the outside?
@classicminiworkshop2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I usually do and then just wipe off the excess

Can the long extension be used with the waxoyl cans?
@classicminiworkshop5 жыл бұрын
Yes if you warm the Waxoil up as it can be a bit thick at room temperature
@_RicksGarage5 жыл бұрын
Classic Mini Workshop it just got me thinking that a fair test would be to use the long extension on the Waxoyl. Personally I would think that the thicker consistency of the Waxoyl would give better protection especially with the longer extension giving better coverage. The contender does look much thinner.
@classicminiworkshop5 жыл бұрын
@@_RicksGarage Yes, I see what you mean. The other stuff is very thin

Was wondering which one do you think last longer the waxoyl are TechniQ ?
@classicminiworkshop3 жыл бұрын
The Waxoyl lasts longer in my experience although nowadays I use Dynax S-50 which is far better than both
@mr90s483 жыл бұрын
@@classicminiworkshop cheers thanks for getting back to me. Would you be able to clean the dynax of the drainage holes with thinners ok?

Didn't realise how awful Waxoyl was until I used Bilt Hamber.
@classicminiworkshop4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there are much better products out there, I don’t think Waxoil have moved with the times
@Spac84 жыл бұрын
@@classicminiworkshop Its pretty much stayed the same like a lot of these "legacy" products that have been around years. People still buy it so why change it. As you say, there is much better out there these days to be honest. Bilt is great stuff. Great video btw. :)

Dinitrol S50 is better stuff for internal cavities.

Agree Dinitrol is about as good as you can get and well proven, quite expensive in comparison though
