Easy way to grease the bearings is to put grease in a clear plastic bag then add the bearing move grease over bearing and gets it into bearing really well and not to messy
@classicminiworkshop4 жыл бұрын
That is a very good idea! Thanks

Classic Mini Workshop not my idea I saw someone else do it at work and thought that’s a good idea

What about Oil seal in the back Specially the lip direction !!! I Haynes manual they say if it's a ball bearing we put the lip toward the bearing , but if it's Tapered Roller Bearings like in this video we install the oil seal the lip facing outwards ! Little weird . Can you explain why please ?!
@classicminiworkshop3 жыл бұрын
No, not sure of the rationale behind this. I would always fit the seal the same way that would would for an oil seal. I talk about this in a later video but cant remember which one LOL

Any outer races I have to fit I leave in the freezer overnight and then press them in or gently tap in. They don't need much.

Another great tip, thank you. Not thought of doing that before but it would certainly help
