Brought a lump to my throat. My favourite line, so many fond memories from the cross to Donny and York mainly. Mucky work by real men 55G

Love the brief glimpse of the one and only no 10000 at 10.05 seconds in.

Yes I noticed that. Guess it would have been in its rebuilt form resembling an A4?

Cracking vid a little gem. Thank you. Noticed the ol enginemen running hard with the distants on. Keeping the brake up on the handle & releasing the trigger valve on the res side to gently drag the brakes on train & ready to drop the handle if next signal was on!! The ol firemen had to know the road too & help driver with signal sighting. Those ol men knew the road & engines like the back their hand & xactly what they were doing.

Such a good film thank you. It's a treat to hear the presenter who is not on camera being very inclined to being silly.

Great film I can remember when I was growing up in the 50s and 60s seeing these great steam engines pulling in to lime street station in the city were I was born Liverpool but most of them were looking very tired and rusty back then but probably it was the time diesel engines were being introduced so why spend money on old stock I have been a to a few Heritage railway over the years and the steam engines are very well painted and shining now

Nice little film. Seems made from little clips from other films.

The amount of work that went into preparing one train was staggering and the cost also. I love steam locomotives and enjoy riding them on some of them on preserved railways but it does make you think about all the work that takes place before you as a passenger steps onboard. Although modern diesel or electric locomotives and their carriages are mush easier to manage and cost effective they do lack the charm and fascination of steam.

A lot of women still employed vis. the locomotive. This film was made possibly just after 'THE' War?

Was that Mr. Cholmondly - Warner doing the commentary?

No, I am pretty sure it's Frank Phillips, a BBC announcer. He did the commentary on several LMS films.
