My family came to British Columbia from Japan when I was 5. In grade 7 we did a huge month length assignment on Canadian indigenous tribes and 2 weeks of it was folklore and legends specific to each tribe. It was at this time that I learned of things such as Sasquatch, lake/sea serpents and that people report seeing these things, all throughout settled history! It created a life long interest and obsession for me on the very topic! From my perspective, finding your channel awhile back was like finding a buried treasure chest full of the most valuable jewels and coins lol. Your topics are VERY well researched, always teach the correct indigenous origin of these creatures of folklore that people claim to see, and you never stray off the path of logic and reason. Brilliant!

As a native of ahtakakoop first nation (starblanket) i can confirm of these sightings we live mid south saskatchewan and we have a lake which is said to hold caves or tunnels which we call a "giant snake" lives in and is said to connect to other lake through saskatchewan

Thank you for sharing these stories of Canadian cryptids. As a boy, I loved stories of sea serpents and sea monsters. As an adult now the mystery is gone. Hoaxes, misidentified animals, waves and debris have been common inspirations, but there is always an answer - just that we don't know it yet. Giant eels may well exist and may account for many sightings. Oarfish even look like sea serpents. It's a fun topic, and I still like the stories from these uninformed ages.

I absolutely believe these lake & sea critters could exist. After millenia of climate & terrestrial upheaval what safer place to ride it out than in the depths of the deep waters & cave systems? They are very smart to avoid human interactions, obviously. I would rather they be undetected than suffer at the hands of humans, we've seen how that's gone in the past with our animal friends 😥 May they always be safe from harm 🙏 Thank you for your excellent work Mr. Peters, much respect & love from Minnesota ❤️🇨🇦❤️🇺🇸❤️

The thing that most of all these serpent stories have in common is underwater caves. Scientists have agreed that there is a huge amount of water within the Earth only accessible through underwater tunnels and cave systems so it shouldn't be that far fetched to have one of these creatures make an appearance once and awhile. We are ignorant of how much there is actually left to discover on this planet we call home ;p

Wow! This things description sounds extremely sounds like what Clayton Mack saw and was written in his book white guys and grizzly bears. I remember he described its body shape ,length and jet black color. It's a very easy read and some interesting stories of a couple bigfoot sightings he experienced. Clayton Mack was a first nations hunting guide. The short chapter he explains of when he experienced the sea serpent sounds absolutely true.

Interesting. I'll check out his book. The same creatures have been seen in the Pacific, Atlantic, Great Lakes, and other lakes connected to the sea, worldwide. There may still be some around, but it seems they're a prehistoric animal that's close to extinction. (I wonder if the legends of dragons described in some cultures, were these animals. There are also many tales that came from sea captains, many years ago, about sea monsters that may be them.)

@@mainemermaid6596 he was from Bella Coola, it's written by his word of mouth so it's kinda fun to read this way, you get a feel for how he speaks, he's intelligent but not educated. I think his lawyer recorded his stories and then his lawyer wrote them for him. I couldn't put it down, I read it in a day. Many fascinating stories.

Though I have never seen any such creatures, I thoroughly believe there are "things" in large bodies of water. The Lakes in Minnesota are huge. When looking out over those bodies of water no one can tell me there are not "things" in those waters.

These serpents must be caddys. For there cannot be a number of different sea serpents living along the Pacific coast of North America. Big sea serpents have been seen in San Francisco Bay up until the late 90s, but not reported since. Caddys must have a large range along the coast. Thanks for sharing.

I used to live in Nahant, Massachusetts (an island, about 25 miles north of Boston). In the 1930s, a giant sea monster was seen and photographed in the bay between Nahant and Swampscott. You can find pictures and local newspaper articles about it. Interestingly, it was a giant snake like creature, also described as having the head of a horse, with 2, short, antennae, coming off the head, with knobs at the ends. I believe it was seen for a couple of Summers. A couple of years later, off the coast of Gloucester MA (a town further north, up the coast), a creature with the same description was accidentally caught in a fishing net and kld. The fishermen attempted to take it back with them, by dragging it along side their boat, but they still had work to do, and by the time they were halfway back to the docks, sharks had eaten much of it, so they ended up releasing the remains into the sea. That same description was given for Champ, in Lake Champlain, and Chessy, in the Chesapeake Bay (MD/VA).
