While you're on a 60s kick, I will mention a group that was huge in the mid-60s and then faded I away. I had totally forgotten about The Association until I came across video about their sudden fade out after a major run of hits. The Association is an American pop rock band from California. During the late 1960s, the band had numerous hits at or near the top of the Billboard charts and were the lead-off band at 1967's Monterey Pop Festival. Their Top 10 hits are: "Cherish" (1966) #1 "Windy" (1967) #1 "Never My Love" (1967) #2 "Along Come Mary" (1966) #7 "Everything That Touches You" (1968) #10

Prior to the Beatles (and the subsequent British Invasion), songs like this (in the early '60s) totally dominated Top 40 AM radio. Easy going vibe, nice melodies, some heartbreak, and perfect for slow dancing! 🙂 Thanks for the reaction.

My parents loved music like this. They were “pre-Beatles" people, very conservative Midwestern kids. Another one of this ilk is the instrumental by Floyd Cramer, "Last Date." Always reminds me of my parents.

OK, my Father was on board ship with some of the members of the Cascades when they were forming (before the records). When this song came out and they were in San Diego, my father invited them to our house for Thanksgiving dinner. Johnny (the main singer) and David (drummer) came and my sister who was 15 at the time became a very popular person overnight at school. They were really nice guys and often played in San Diego. I would catch up with them and have a beer sometimes when they played the Red Coat Inn. Sadly we have lost some of the members but this song was covered by Dan Fogelberg in 1990 and it was a hit again. It has also been covered by dozens of other artists (some very famous) over the years. Thanks for playing this. By the way, some of the background music on this song was done by the famous Wrecking Crew which included a very young Glen Campbell on guitar.

I lost my Daddy eighteen years ago when I was 26. This was one of the songs he loved. I don't know how most people feel about feeling the presence of lost loved ones but for me, this song is an indication my Daddy is making his presence known. I come across it at the strangest moments and in the strangest places. Like one day when I was watching a foreign film from India titled "7 Khoon Maaf" and it was played or today when I pull up reaction videos and see some of my favorite reactors reviewing this song. It's happen repeatedly over the years and maybe it's not all that strange considering this is a reaction channel, it is still significant to me. Since it always makes me think of my Daddy, I just feel like he's sending me a hug everytime I hear this song so today, I'm gonna walk around with this song in my head, a smile on my face and love in my heart. ❤

The day I discovered that music was my jam I was about ten. I listened to a 45 rpm single on my cousins record player. It was a song called “Love Potion Number Nine” by the Clovers. I was so amazed that I played it over and over and over. Finally my Dad came into the room and asked me if they had other music. I was so enthralled that I admitted that I didn’t know, so I found more records and listened to music the rest of the day. I listened to the first one so many times that I still remember the words today and I’ll be seventy in a week. Keep up the good work. This was one of the popular "heartbreak" songs back in the day. We heard that one at sock hops, skating rinks and school dances. My mother caught covid this year in July. With in 4 days of being diagnosed she passed. Growing up my mother listened to mostly disco and top 40 music from the 50's to the 80's but one of the songs she would sing on her happy days was this song. She would hum and sing parts of it as she did chores and such... She would look at me as a little kid and sing to me.... Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain and she would have me say pitter patter pitter patter. So this song hits me really hard right now since this was my first holiday season without her.

Many years later I met John Obenar who was the percussionist in the recording of this song. His real love was jazz, especially John Coltrane but he did studio work for the money. His drumming career was ended when he fell and broke his wrist after a night of drinking in San Francisco. The percussion playing in this song is often mistakenly credited to the great Hal Blaine.

I always loved this song. It sounds so sweet, but it is heartbreaking. This and "The Worst That Could Happen" by Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge are absolutely heartbreaking songs.

Still have the 45 here. A deep favorite. So my story is that I was trying to make a soothing sounds reel to reel tape recording. I had hung the mic out my bedroom window to record a summer's rain. In the middle, I put Rhythm Of The Rain on the old record player and taped that into the mix, then went back to the real rain. Goodness, I may still have that reel to reel tape. Just love this tune. Thanks. Singing along here. So glad you dug it, Guys.

I still have the 45 that was on the juke box at my Nana's tavern. Every time the new 45's were added , I got to keep the ones that came off. What a collection I had. All originals by Elvis, Johnny Cash, The Beatles & the Stones, Chuck Berry, Patsy Cline, Aretha Franklin, The Righteous Brothers, The Four Seasons, Ray Charles, Sinatra, Streisand and so many others. Due to a lot of moves over the years, plus other issues, most were lost along the way. So many great memories.

Another classic "rain" song. So simple, but infectious and melodic tune from the 60s

While others my age were listening to rock, I was hooked on softer melodies like this that warmed my heart and eased the stress of school exams and life. I am so grateful for these songs. Rain is one of my favourite things this life has to offer.

Yes, Miss Amber, in those days when someone moved away it usually meant that you lost touch with them. You could call them, if you had their number, but long distance was expensive. You could write letters, but that took time, and it might be days before you got a letter back. Think about YOUR average day and decide if you could take an hour or so to write a letter. I'm sure that when Myspace first came out (and later Facebook), many people my age went looking for long lost friends...I know I did! There are people on my Facebook that I haven't seen in 45 years. LOVE your reaction to this song!

Grew up listening to this one and many more like it...Mom had the 45, and we played them every chance we got. Great timeless classic, and there were many more from this time that will never fade away.

This old lady started my music journey in the 60’s. Listening to them now reminds me how short these songs were. You are lucky to get 2 verses & the chorus. I often think - Hey that was too short! I wish they had created more verses.

You guys always make me smile & I’m thankful for that. My 60th birthday today 😭 but had a nice, quiet, drama free day. That’s as good as it gets as carer for 90 yr old dad with dementia and an Autistic adult child. The child bought me a bottle of champagne so forgive me, I’m slightly sozzled 😄, but enjoying it. Wishing you & yours all the best in 2024
