Government planners slow innovation with burdensome rules.
In 1931, workers built the Empire State building in just over a year. Now it takes 13 years to finish the new World Trade Center.

He was right. The government is in charge of unclaimed/undeveloped land. There's no place left you can build in less than 4 years, even if you own the land. We're running out of land. If you've ever had dealings with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), you know what I mean. I had to deal with a BLM regulator who insisted on a 2 year long environmental impact study (guess who pays) in order to put down a 2' X 2' 4 inch tall concrete pad. Interesting, this pad I wanted to put down was only 8' from a 4' diameter, 3' high concrete anchor for a telecommunications tower. Beyond stupidity!

Exactly, that's why you see a lot of these uber wealthy democrats. They've already gotten theirs, and their companies are big enough to lobby and get certain tax breaks, but the regulation and high taxes will stifle their competition from growing. The more power government has the more they can use their regulations to determine winners and losers.

That is a problem that cannot be solved. For example, I don't know of any politicians that are aerospace engineers but voters have still demanded that airplanes be regulated by the government so what choice does the politician have but to turn to experts in the field and the experts are always the biggest players in that market so they get to set the rules to keep competition out and no one is the wiser. However there is no other way for the politician to regulate such industries so the answer in the end is to not have the government regulation and instead rely on private sector regulations from places like insurance companies and investors.

I am reminded of a young woman in Hawaii back in the 70's or 80's. She escaped from an abusive relationship, and started a small service to help other women in the same plight. As soon as she started hiring people to help grow the service, government regulators stepped in and laid out an encyclopedia of regulations she had to comply with in order to run a business with paid employees. She was providing a needed and helpful service far below the cost of professional and government help. The regulators put her out of business. Before she started, she saw government as the potential savior of all. After, she saw government as the soulless over reaching monster it is. Literally, in a space of weeks, she went from a hard core blue dog democrat to a libertarian. Where I live, I need local government permission to paint my house! I used to think it was my property. No more.

Please read the hundreds of books and papers on vaccines. Polio didn't arbitrarily paralyze anyone. It was gut damage from DDT allowing naturally occurring polio viruses in the soil (which still exist today) to enter the central nervous system. Salk was unable to reproduce paralysis with polio until he started injecting the particles in the nervous systems of monkeys. He was clued into this requirement because a high rate of paralysis occurred after tonsillectomies. So much more to the story, too. Please read some of the books.

I think we should create a committee for regulatory oversight that reports to another committee on regulatory under-sightedness, which will submit its findings to a committee for regulating the findings and producing a government report that gets sent to a congressional sub-committee for debate. That report will be sent for a study by a lobbyist sub-committee who will outsource their efforts to a third party committee who will take 12 years to determine "no action" and send their judgement back up the chain, forever. Oh, wait...we already have that perfect system in place. And, thank God it's been approved for more funding and an expanded staff. Great!

the empire state building is also a more resource heavy design than the WTO. The WTO fell because they made the interior so hollow that it was not strong enough to take a hit from a plane. However the WTO took a very heavy, diving speed jet. The reason the WTO won awards is because of how many resources they were able to skim out while keeping the structure strong. The empire state plane took a hit by a small empty bomber at (extra slow cruising speed).
