President Trump both cut and increased regulation.

President Donald Trump says he's "undertaken a historic effort to massively reduce job-killing regulations."
People attack him for it. The Young Turks say Trump's deregulation "singlehandedly led the world down a dark path."
The leftist Economic Policy Institute think tank claims "workers' health, safety, and pay are among the casualties.”
But deregulation creates wealth, Stossel notes.
"Trump sent a message to business: 'We're not going to crush you.' And that's caused growth," Stossel says to Grover Norquist -- who runs Americans for Tax Reform, which fights for lower taxes and fewer rules.
"That was the beginning of a recovery," Norquist responds.
The stock market has risen by about a third since Trump was elected.
Trump has cut hundreds of regulations, including an EPA rule about "waters of the United States" that the agency said gave them power to regulate virtually everyone’s land.
The EPA was regulating "little trickles, and the kind of ponds that spring up when it rains a lot one night,” says Norquist. "They were using it as land control."
Stossel reported how Jill and Jack Baron, in Idaho, were encouraged by state officials to unclog a drainage ditch -- but when they did so, federal officials went after them in court, fining them thousands of dollars a day.
Deregulation saved the Barons, who now have use of their land again.
"We have our land back! Without the change in the White House and the EPA nothing would have changed," Jill Baron writes.
Trump also repealed Obama’s new "CAFE" standards - meant to force car makers to produce more fuel-efficient cars. The Obama administration wanted all car makers' fleets to get an average of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. The Trump administration scrapped that, although California may keep the tougher rules.
Trump also ended the previous administration's “net neutrality” rules.
Democrats predicted doom.
One Federal Communications Commission official said Trump was "handing the keys to the internet over to a handful of multi-billion-dollar corporations."
Opponents feared that those corporations would jack up prices, or slow some website speeds. None of that's happened, Stossel and Norquist note.
Another regulation Trump cancelled would have treated franchise companies like McDonalds as one single business.
Norquist explains why the Obama administration wanted that: "The trial lawyers want to be able to sue all of McDonald’s, not just the local McDonald’s, if [someone] spills coffee on themselves. And the labor unions wanted to unionize all of McDonald’s, not just the one store ... that would have been a disaster. That was ended."
But sometimes, Trump adds new regulations -- he's mandated that government buy products made in America, and he's added tariffs on lots of imports.
"Trump is a protectionist in many ways, and tariffs are taxes and ... regulations on consumers," Norquist says.
"The good news is, the vast majority of the regulatory acts by a factor of many have been deregulatory and they have been tremendously helpful," Norquist says.
"He's done a great deal more than anybody in recent history ... maybe even more than Reagan did.”
By some measures, he did.
Trump claims to have cut 22 rules for every new regulation. He exaggerates, as usual, Stossel notes. The real number is about 5 regulations repealed for every new one passed, according to the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
Still, whether it’s 5 or 22, It's good whenever excessive regulations are cut, concludes Stossel. Regulations take our time, opportunity, and our freedom.

@@midmichiganrr24gp9 I'm a libertarian and the thing with borders is: We do want open borders because we don't want government at all But under the condition that our money is redistributed to all within the borders, we do want strong borders. The true solution to immigration crisis is not strict borders and big walls, it's the end of money redistribution. Then freeloaders won't come and we will only have hard-working immigrants coming in, like myself.

@@iaroslavtitov2270 That is what I Thought the libertarian party was going for. But it seems they were hell bent on open borders and trying to cater to the Far left/antifa types and not addressing the need to end the welfare state (either open borders or welfare you cant have both) . I even asked at my local libertarian party chapter meeting about ending welfare but they were more keen on open borders instead of ending welfare. But in my opinion people can not just be traded like goods in immigration/emigration. After traveling the world in the navy and seeing multiple peoples, races and cultures I have to come to the conclusion that certain cultures can not coexist and are best left in their own country. Our current immigration crises is literally taking in people en mass who hate america (whites in general) and will simply vote in a socialist authoritarian government. Not saying all will, but the vast majority will vote this way. This is something that the Libertarian party also needs to take into consideration but they seem oblivious to this.

Deregulation is good and bad. Years ago they deregulated the trucking industry and pay has dropped by 50% because they never abolished cent per mile pay while drivers being regulated by the hour. Imagine sitting for hours in traffic not getting paid or anything else that's not driving. What needs to happen is drivers need to be paid by the hour with overtime after 40 hours like every other job and cent per mile pay must be abolished.
@utkarsh4386

@@r.d.9399 If the driver doesn't like how he is being paid, he can go to another trucking company - except, there is lesser competition because regulations are costly which causes fewer competitors and thus lesser competition. It's simple. If the government regulates, then a corrupt bureaucrat can bankrupt the system and now you have no competition and you don't have those regulations enforced. With a free market, there is no single individual to corrupt, since all individuals are acting in their own profit motive. It's a vicious cycle. Regulations come in - competition lowers - people get exploited - more regulations come in and so on.

The really important point is what kind of regulations are put in place. Things like "No, you can not dump chemicals into the river" or "no you can not become a monopoly" or "no you cna not conspire with your competitors to raise prices". All of which is happening freely in the US right now. Internet companies LOVE the loss of net neutrality, which means they now have the ability to control what is available on the net and what isn't simply by governing what speed the content is provided at. They have the ability to set individual pricing for access to certain sites etc. Of course it wont happen that noticeably, instead it will be carefully rebranded to look like a good thing for the consumer, when in the end, you end up paying more for less. Blocking unions is terrible for the workforce, since now workers have virtually zero bargaining power for an increase in pay or improvement in benefits etc. And no way to fight benefits being stripped away, something the US government also is working hard on doing. No regulation on medication prices means the US pays 5-10 times what other first world nations do, and for no reason other than CEO/shareholder profiteering. Yes, deregulation CAN stimulate, but it ultimately means that the common person has ZERO protection from the will of those that sit at the top, the moneyed interests who could care less about whether you live or die. See 50.000 deaths per year in the US from lack of medical care. Aka "you don't have enough money, thus you are sentenced to death". Trying to spin deregulation as something 100% positive is an open lie. Deregulation has one primary effect. It gives those with a lot of money the ability to get more money, and to pretty much do as they please, whilst the result for the broader masses will be virtually nothing. The wealth that is being generated flows to the top and remains there. Why do you think real worker wages virtually haven't changed in the US in the last 50 years? Whilst CEO pay has surged by over 900%? Why do you think there are caravans of people going to canada to buy insulin, so they, you know, dont die from being too poor to buy overpriced american insulin? Deregulation isn't intended to choke big business and harm everyone. The primary intention is to protect the environment and the common people from the interests of large corporations, which are often at odds with both of them. Of course that will curtail profit or sometimes have negative consequences. But removing them will ensure a split of consequence. Positive for the rich, negative for everyone else. Sure there might be some more jobs, but they won't pay well, because the value of work is unilaterally set by the employer, with the employee having no say. A take it or leave it mentality is put into place, and when faced with earning little money with no way to rise through the ranks or no money, one of course takes option one. No financial security is still better than no finances at all. The rest of the world is definitely looking at the US with a very worried gaze. Of course right-wing populists cheer, because they view the stripping away of rights and the unfettered pursuit of money as something praiseworthy, as well as getting to vote people against their own interest (see brexit, it'll be an economic disaster and likely re-ignite the civil war in northern ireland. But muh pride and independence. Sure.)

@UCvxfdtPqO5Y_XXv0wYE7FIQ True. Problem is, right now the US is cutting a lot of essential regulations - like emissions standards and other pollution related things, or financial regulations that were implemented to stop another financial crisis from re-occurring. Re-allowing stock buybacks also is contributing hugely to wealth inequality. I agree that yes, some regulations could be choke holds, if implemented poorly etc or for the wrong reasons. But what is currently being thrown out by the US government is absolutely essential, and will only do two things. A) make the rich richer, B) make life for everyone who isn't rich worse.

A lot of this is because of the expansion of fibre infrastructure. They can support such a ridiculous amount of bandwidth now. The fear with the repeal of net neutrality though is data caps, which are starting to appear now ever more frequently slowly but surely. My internet speed is almost always throttled at the end of the month because I “use too much”. When you have speeds of 1000MB (aka 1 gigabyte a second second ) it is very easy to hit that 1 terabyte (1000 gigabyte) data cap and then they throttle you.

That's just a spin job. The purpose of the 'regulations' you demonize is to protect the life (osha, epa, fda, cwa, ntsa, faa, etc) liberty (Voting Rights Act, EPA again) and pursuit of happiness (ADA, Title IX, etc) of citizens that just don't happen to be YOU! The libertarian wants the right to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater, ignoring the fact that while he may never wish to actually do that, there are many who would. Thus, the birth of the regulatory state. If you really want less regulation, pressure the people and corporations who continually probe and push the boundaries of absolute legality looking for a way to profit at the expense of the people around them.

When the massive corporations are for a regulation, you have to question it. Regulations pushed by corporations have been one of the largest drivers of shutting down small businesses. Politicians who would have to stand with their backs turned, having to trust the people behind them in line to not hurt or kill them while they get groceries or get gas.. Those people would have to see the people they screw over every day and interact with them and maybe even have to deal with the people they screwed over so badly they became violent. And the corruption would end much sooner from the politicians once they had to literally deal with the repercussions of their actions- positive or negative. As they would have to stare those they rob and oppress In the face each day Instead they hide in office buildings with armed security and laws that give them immunity from their criminal behavior and immunity from consequences of unconstitutional legislature.

Justin Joy Imagine getting sued by a hospital for your healthcare costs because you don’t have the means to cover your $400k bill for your heart surgery. You work a low paying job, so there is no hope of them recovering the debt from you. So, the hospital itself ends up eating the bill(collections agencies will make your life miserable but can’t draw blood from a turnip). Then, the hospital closes because too many schmoes like you think it’s cool to be a deadbeat. Your community loses a hospital that was professionally run to be replaced by a medical clinic. These places still rake your wallets, but give the shittiest care administered by some fresh off the plane Achmed or Abdul who has brought his whole clan over to facilitate the great replacement. You now have a joke for medical care in your community, but despite watching family and friends die from the most idiotic causes, you’ll never admit that keeping that hospital with fancy high paid doctors was worth the cost. Funerals are cheap and easy! Think I’m lying? Go and visit any rural community out beyond last mile range in this country. Hospitals are closing left and right and the one stop med clinics are all over the place. Look on the map for where the latest mosques have opened. You’ll notice a pattern very quickly.

As someone who worked within the rules over EPA for nearly 14 years HAZMAT Certification, Shipping and Transportation as well as disposal of dangerous and explosive substances, I completely agree! We were once fined by the EPA for emergency destruction on an EPA approved site for proper disposal of explosives over a period of decades... Fort Carson EOD was fined when we were unable to dispose of an emergency disposal operation on their time... We can't just determine when an emergency will arise! It'd be like fining the fire department for not showing how to put out a fire to demonstrate it wasn't violating EPA by spreading hazardous materials with water. They'd literally need to set someone's property on fire to create a response! EPA is corrupt with power and known for its back-deals that end in pseudo bribery for special favors. Less Government and regulations means more freedom to thrive.

Do we want freedom? Yes we do, but the individualistic “freedom” promoted by libertarians and conservatives is a poisonous fake. “Freedom” to get hooked on mind-numbing drugs? “Freedom” to surgically mutilate your body and call yourself a member of the opposite sex after having sterilized yourself and made yourself actually sexless forever? Such phony “freedom” offers us nothing but misery and death. The first freedom, on which all others depend, is the freedom to live in a society composed of our own people only, governed by our own best men, and governed always in our racial best interest. That first freedom is called self-determination.
