Considering these ads were done in the 60s, they're probably all RIP...or almost all. :(

4:36 That Hamm's beer ad is so weird... A couple of bears are going camping at a campground (as opposed to simply living in the nearby woods(?); the little flying thing with the lightbulb butt, and the dark thing around his eye and over his nose, was singing the high notes of the jingle; the bigger bear grabs one of those little balls of light (which apparently was a beer can(?)), and either gets electrocuted by it or the beer was just "zapped" into his body(!?!); and, both bears apparently hallucinating (or really drunk), when they look up in the sky and see "Hamm's Beer". I wonder what Yogi the Bear would think of all that...

😂😂😂 Bears camping with beer. Should have been your first clue. Real bears drink whiskey.

Everyone who was a child in the early 60's,even if you were a toddler, those Hamm beer commercials are ingrained in our collective DNA! (LOL) The beat of that drum, then the music starts, and then that catchy jingle. Then you have cartoon bears on top of that! What more do you need to capture a kid's attention. Too bad it was a beer commercial.

I remember hearing that catchy coppertone jingle from my childhood.

Does anyone still refer to bars of soap as "cakes"?? (e.g., at 1:30) I don't remember hearing it in an ad, at least.

3:54- Ed Reimers for Crest.

If it weren't for Crest TV ads in the '60s, most of us would never have heard the word "dentifrice"...
@not-so-smartaleck89874 жыл бұрын
4:15 I used Crest toothpaste as a kid, but I don't remember the term "dentifrice" (didn't read the small print on the side of the box...actually, my mom probably threw the box away before leaving the tube near the sink, anyway). I'm not really old enough (born in '62) to remember these ads from the 60's, in any case.

Those old deoderants contained aluminum oxides and such. I wonder how many caused skin cancer ?
@not-so-smartaleck89874 жыл бұрын
That Arrid commercial was pretty harsh--I don't the woman at 6:40 had any "pit" stains, LOL And at 7:04, I didn't know deodorants causing fabrics to "rot"(?!?) was a thing...

How'd you like to have to clean that living room at 2:26? The smell, and all those different animals shitting on the rug, then walking through it and grinding it into the carpet...

The Coppertone commercial is so peculiar by today’s standards...underaged little girl’s bare butt being exposed, the “Don’t be a paleface!” slogan, the attractive white couple dressed entirely in white who are trying to make themselves look dark during a time of struggle in the USA to end discrimination against dark-skinned people.. all very worthy of analysis.
@not-so-smartaleck89874 жыл бұрын
The girl saying "don't be a paleface" is pretty "cringe-y" by today's standards, but I remember that logo of the little girl with the dog pulling on her bathing suit--no big deal, really--and I don't understand your comment about the white couple using suntan lotion to get a tan...what exactly is wrong with that?!? The "struggle in the USA to end discrimination against dark-skinned people", either then or now, has nothing to do with someone sunbathing (trying to get a tan) at the beach. SMH

That little girl Coppertone ad is innocent, I saw it many times in the 1960s before I was 10, it didn't bother me, why should. it bother you?
