Hello everyone, Frost here. Welcome back to another classic wow video. This is the first part from the professions series. A series that will contain 4 episodes covering all 12 professions. First part will be about the gathering skills, second part about the armor and weapon crafting, third part we'll look into the 3 remaining primary professions: Alchemy, Engineering and Enchanting and we'll end the series with the secondary skills: First aid, cooking and fishing. Looking up online for a vanilla wow profession guide will mostly give you results about how to level it from 1 - 300, rarely covering them as an overview or slightly more in depth. The purpose of the series is to help new and returning players choose the skills that suits their needs.
For some reason vanilla professions are underrated. And I believe that the reason is lack of knowledge and lack of awareness on the nature of the changing economy. The demands during the first 3 months will not be the same as the demand 6 or 12 months after release. Half of the gold making guides on this channel are made and suited for a mature economy and most professions will thrive during that time. The point is, don't pick a profession and expect to get rich from day one. There's a saying that "classic wow" is marathon, not a race and the same principle will apply to professions. The way I see the trading skills is more like an investment, a way in the future to make some passive and semi-passive income, thus making grinding for gold no longer a required task, just a thing of the past. Althoug, choosing professions solely for making gold is somehow a bit selfish and in contradiction with the nature of vanilla wow. Some trade skills are more suited for helping your guild and providing services for your close friends. Well talk more about this in a future episode as today we're covering Gathering.

Pro-tip for those who want to pick two gathering professions: Chose either Herbalism + Skinning or Mining + Skinning, never Mining + Herbalism, why? For the simple reason that you can only track either Herbs or Mining Nodes and while you might fool yourself into thinking you can easily spot them by just looking you'd be surprised how much you will overlook, herbs and nodes can spawn in the silliest of places and only by tracking will you even know they are there! Also some herbs are very hard to see as they can blend in with the grass and the shrubs of the world, and unlike in modern WoW they don't sparkle, so unless you're tracking them you'll most likely miss them most of the time.

I really don't need these videos because I've played classic for 10+ years, but I do enjoy them. Very well made and the info is 99% accurate. The prices are a bit inflated though, they refer more to a private server economy where people played a long time and accumulated a lot of gold already. Don't expect make 20+ gold on a stack of herbs in the first 12 months of a new server. Anyway, awesome videos and I love your accent!

Yes! Professions actually mattered back then and have even seen guilds in vanilla want their guild mates to actually have professions. Same with first aide, cooking, etc. Totally work picking professions and leveling them while you quest.

Idk about large scale gold farming, but I leveled a warr on a Light's Hope and went skinning+mining, and had enough gold to buy my mount at lvl 38, it was a fantastic feeling :) Definitely recommend this for someone who just wants "quick money".

My fav spot for the shrooms is a cave in Ungoro. After a loop the spawns usually come back up in the front when no one is around; and usually no one really hits the cave.

from easiest to most difficult one: skinning, herbalism, mining. in early levels, always go after some veins. Even if you need to kill a specific mob. always run towards it, this way your leveling is maybe slightly slower but your mining skill is always on par with your level.

Hi Frostadamus! No mention of grave moss as high profit for lower level herbalists (if server is already out for quite some time, as shadow prot potions are not usefull in MC & co) ? Why? Do you think there is not enough out there to farm? Or any other reason why you didn't include it?

Be sure to make your miner toon and herbing toon a Huntar/Warlock or vice versa. There is a huge benefit to sending your pet in to draw aggro while you loot. Paladins used to be able to mine while bubbled too, but Blizzard felt that was "too OP", and nerfed it...

On Kronos 3 Arcane crystals were quire rare and the price was up to 40g. Black lotus 70-90g. Stacks price vary. When realm ages fishing raises to a very good gold maker (alchemy and mp5 food). Also you may pick like skinning + herbalism for leveling and stash herbs, vendor skins and by end levels drop skinning and train alchemy. Even enchanting/tailoring may be boosted by stashing cloth from leveling as well as bars/stones from mining (dropping gathering professions, dump bars into green engineering guns, DE those, drop engi, take tailoring, craft greens to train it, DE it too, train enchanting with even more resources, make tons of wands). For alt crafting - check for BoP recipes or crafts. From alchemy major mana potion recipe is BoP, while in case of tailoring if your main uses cloth armor and alt crafts it - you won't be able to make pre-raid BoP class specific chest piece. Also recipes locked behind reputation may be a blocker for alt crafter. And one more thing - if your main isn't very "mobile" you may pick druid or maybe even a shaman for your alt - gathering on those two classes can be quicker or more handy due to ghost wolf and travel/cat forms.

Gonna go skinning and engineering for my warrior eng is a must have for pvp/pve huge dmg increase and my guild will cheese with 40 engineers which gives a lot of aoe in raids with the engineering bombs. GG

I didn't really ever get into using the AH as a main income when I started playing, I'm curious where your getting your prices. When I finally did.. I loaded my inventory and bank and finally threw it all in at a much lower price than my competition, and then hurried to get more because I intended to destroy prices, it's very hard to get reasonable prices as a Engineering needing many materials from other professions.

I like to put a +mining enchant on low-level gray or white gloves. That way I can pass it around if I make another miner.

Enchants to boost gathering skill is only for end content herbs, skinning, and mining. It is not worth getting at the start because as you level you will be changing your gear all the time, However you will want to get these on a piece of gear you will be able to kill stuff with as you will find mobs sitting on all the nodes.

Herbalism is also great for would be raiders. You can get guildies to craft consumables for you rather than buying them.

Im gonna be leveling with my friend and he's going skinning and leatherworking, and I'll be going herbalism and enchanting while leveling. Saving my herbs so at 60 I can go alchemy which in my opinion is invaluable as a raider and the best source of revenue for professions in late game. The enchanting while leveling is to get some revenue from disenchanting greens and blue BOP and selling the mats on AH. This is just a tip for anyone else that was wondering what might be a good combo while leveling. Also I'm open to thoughts and suggestions from others.

All of the low level stuff on these new servers are so cheap tho...20 stack of Light Leather goes for about 4 silver on my server right now. Is it better to just vendor those stacks and then AH the higher level herbs and skins?

hey Frostadamus i was wondering does alchemy offer any special potions/elixers for the person making that u cant trade? just like how enchanting gives u special enchants for u alone. im plannin on going rogue as main thoe will probs make a warrior later as well so not sure how i want to do my skills ahahahah thinkin start with skin/herb then drop skin at say lvl 30ish for alch to make potions while lvl etc but normally i have made a gathering alt that is fast then all my mains have had proffesions that give them special stuff. so my warrior might still use mining for the %5 stam or whatever it is and blacksmithing for the bounses from that while my rogue would use eng and alch for casual daily gold boosts from trans.

Yo Blackboard. The only profession in vanilla giving an advantage is tailoring due to 2 BoP robes you can craft, robe of power and a lvl 57epic robe for mage/priest and warlock. Other than that vanilla profession do not offer enchants on rings and so on. I think your skinning/herb should be a good pick to begin with.

It's so funny watching this video knowing how the classic economy has developed! Arcane crystal prices settling at 5-8g. Imagine lol. They usually are 60-80g depending on server. Skinning has also turned out to pale in comparison to mining and herbalism in profitability.

New to WoW as of what is going to be the Classic release, so I've subscribed and have been watching all your video's so that I can at least have a little knowledge on what I'm doing when it's released. So, if I don't do Tailor/Skin but yet do Skin/Herb, I can just make the tailoring cloth gear on my bank alt and then mail it to my main character to use?

tomtenarne Your right it was min lvl 35. Boost 3 characters to 35 and teach them all tailoring. Transmute mooncloth once a week from each of them 😌 ready for this Classic grind

I wanna start as a rogue for classic, wow it be a bad idea to start skinning herbing just to make money passively well leveling then maybe dropping herbing for leather working or engineering? I feel like mining is the slowest as skinning is very easy to level and herbs aren't to hard to grind ether ? What's your opinion?

You could get herb/mining and at level 60 dropone of the gathering skills for engineering. The materials you stack up from mining will help you level engineering at 60. It might be a wise idea to keep mining/engi at 60 because fueling engi is quite expensive.

Man I'm having such a hard time deciding on my profs! I know I'll play rogue, so LW/Skinning seems the obvious choice! I also know that eventually I'm gonna have more profs from alts, but for the main, should I get 2 gathering profs or 1 gathering and 1 crafting?

Beware the skinning ninjas...they will wait for you to loot and skin your kills, usually this happens if you are higher level and able to kill a group of something to skin and once you loot they start to skin. Also iirc dark iron ore was found in certain zones not only in molten core.

I am 45 been playing these games since people thought of them. My tip: Gather and that's it. It will make you the MOST constant money you will ever get from crafting. Crafting is a huge trap; seems like fun crafting silly shit but when it comes down to it, that ore, cloth, herb will net you more faster. HAVE FUN. P.S. Pronounced -Erb
