I think it's also important to remember that the master enchanting trainer is inside Uldaman, past a couple bosses. That's a significant factor in choosing enchanting - going to train new skills requires lots of time and probably a group, rather than just finding which city the master is in.

True, it doesn't have any effect on the end game. But difficulty of leveling is definitely something to consider when choosing a profession. Edit: Also, I just thought about it - I don't think I heard anything about Crusader? That was a really big one, and a pretty easy recipe to farm. The mobs that drop it are in a small area and easy to kill, but there are only a few of them so you really want to find a time when nobody else is there.

Having experienced being THE go-to enchanter for my server back in Vanilla days, I can say that enchanting will not make you rich unless you put every effort into it. Not just /2 spamming but farming for ebchants and mats alone is tough. Eventually unless its an ultra rare enchant you will have to just accept people tipping you 1-5g at best because they will go without enchant rather than paying a service fee

I don't see a point of enchants unless you are in high end gear already... since it costs 10-20 or more gold, ads something negligible like +9 dmg and you replace your armor/weapon anyway... I personally think Blizzard should have added mechanic that you get extra reagents for disenchanting an already enchanted item. Also, a mechanic for selling enchants at auction house. I would love to suggest it, but the purists of classic are going to have my head for this. At least ability to sell at auction house should be a must...

I was Alt crazy, so I leveled up almost all of the professions. I only wished there were more valuable items to craft when you are low level that would rival or even surpass dungeon drops.

I enchanted pre wrath and after and having vellum was a game changer. If I could break one classic rule I’d allow vellum. Seriously though it was a drag to advertise for free enchants just to level up. I can remember enchanting a pair of gloves over and over again...sigh. Love the video Frost! 💕

Yea, vellums are pretty nice and convenient. But people might have the contra-argument that this will slightly kill the community aspect. @ And I think you understand why :P

Sounds like the best classes to level enchanting would be ones that can farm/kill quickly and easily solo. Like maybe a hunter or something. I was thinking about doing enchanting/tailoring on my priest.. but I don't think I'm ever going to be able to grind all those reps

I feel like back in vanilla, a lot of the appeal for weapon enchants was for cosmetic reasons if not for the practical uses, outside of competitive play of course.. they were like some of the earliest forms of customization like with transmogs today I guess. On my hunter, I remember seeking out enchanters to give my old obsolete but still cool weapons some cool looking or fun enchants.. like my barbarous blade that I re-enchanted with crusader because it was funny to see a hunter with an obviously melee weapon and enchant lol. My first 60 was a warlock enchanter, i think I was server first to have 15 agil for 1h (small server), and one of the few to have crusader at the time(game was fairly new) so it was cool to have that.. although I never got my epic mount bc there wasn't enough players to call on to run DM hahah.. in retrospect had I run any other class I'd have my mount because I made so much gold enchanting 15 agil.. that timbermaw grind was ridiculous (I did it in felwood) albeit pretty easy as a warlock, dotting 4-5 mobs and fearing, vw aoe tanking. Good times.. Icy weapon, demonslaying, unholy weapon lifestealing fiery weapon all looked so cool.

Unless you plan on being a full-time raider and make WoW classic your job, enchanting just isn't worth the trouble. Easier ways to make gold that doesn't have you dealing with people getting pissed about being charged a fee they perceive as unreasonable. This a tip to all who play. Be nice to your enchanter and be especially nice to ones with rare recipes. They've seen some shit and have put in the hours so just pay up and thank them. Also, this isn't 2004 anymore, just be informed on what you want and need before bothering some enchanter. They've suffered enough and I can talk from experience that they don't want to have to run an enchanting school on the side.

I think I will miss one update from retail WoW regarding enchanting: Vellums. It is so convenient to be able to sell enchants over auction and to save them for later.

@@Frostadamus I am a #nochanges guy myself. Just because I think they are a solely positive addition to the game, doesn't mean I wouldn't get mad and protest blizzard if they added them to classic. I have said that there are only 2 changes I would find acceptable for classic wow. 1. A client side option to enable updated models and textures. 2. Having Soul Shards and Ammo stack to 1000 Those are the only changes I would tolerate in WoW classic. I really hope Blizz doesn't fuck it up.

I agree. Being able to put it in the AH meant people didn't squabble or insult over prices. I still don't think it should be added in classic, but it's something that will be missed. Though not being enchant our own alts did lead to enchanters making little friend groups who all enchanted each other's alts. So it's not all bad in that regard. I think a shared struggling and helping each other overcome inconvenience's like this is part of what made old school MMOs so appealing.

The part about educating people on prices for mats reminded me of a time when a priest wanted the robe of winter night(40frost/shadow spd, and a bit of stats) for less than 10 gold, "because it's a leveling item". If anyone's interested, it needs at least several essences and some other mats, that cost close to a 100 combined.

And hey, it's basically bis for SP, the recipe for which you can only farm yourself(although the droprate is high). Won't charge 30g for crafting, but 5-10 seems fair, especially with all my mats.

I would do a proper armor class profession for your class and if you have a couple toons when you level those you can mail the stuff you make from that toon to you are enchanting on.

I don't think the whole being called greedy when someone hears the price of an expensive enchant will be as big of an issue as it was back in real vanilla. I remember being that kid who was super ignorant and thought people were scamming me too, but that was because I was, well, ignorant. People will be coming in much older, more mature, knowledgeable, and not as bad at the game. This is something I think a lot of people trying to get the drop on Classic WoW videos particularly guides have been forgetting. Like the people who talk about the old kill lists from back in the day, people aren't going to have the time to actively participate in and maintain a kill list, or rather they won't want to waste their time since they were so insanely time inefficient.

Hey frost great video, I will probably pick enchanting on my priest for classic so this gave me some recipes to go after. Altough I started in TBC, I faintly remember you could only train the last part of enchanting in Uldaman, is this true? I don't think I want to level Enchanting at the start of Classic. People are far too out of touch with the effort/cost of enchanting and are way too cheap for me to want to do it as an early profession. Eventually I'll level it to help friends and guildies but probably not until after I have the gold for my epic mount and can feel a little more free with gold.

1/300 level of enchanting is enough to disenchant any item in vanilla. Though, you need 5 lvl of your character to learn any profession.

not my favourite Frost video; because this focuses too much on end game content and not enough on introduction or 'tips' one of the most frustrating steps in Vanilla Enchanting is 'finding the trainers' because they're not in your cities to train higher skill levels; the Horde Artisan trainer(151-225) is in a hidden pathway in Sun Rock Retreat in Stonetalon Mountains and the Ally one is in Azora Tower in Elwynn Forest. The Master trainer(226-300) for both factions is in the Uldaman dungeon and only appears after killing 4 camps of scorpions and the trainer just shows up at their campsite in the dungeon. To avoid making multiple trips to the dungeon bring a lot of materials so you can level up some skill points and learn more recipes from them. Enchanting wastes a lot of materials trying to increase your skill level to access more powerful enchantments; my tips for that would be to enchant random green items that you pick up (and plan to sell at auction) because it might attract more attention from your buyers. Also you can enchant items of poor or common quality(grey or white) and the item can be used multiple times on each of your characters, they don't get stuck to your character just mail it to another one. It might not a big deal to have +5 extra stamina on your shoes if you're lvl 50, but your brand new level 1 character would sure like +5 stam or a Fiery enchant :))). if you're in town and you're gaining multiple enchanting skill points it's worth a try to advertise that you have 10 or 15 copies of a certain spell to give away and people will sometimes tip you even when you are giving them away for free. This is building your advertising brand, people will often add your name to their friends list if they need enchanting later on. Also mention it in your guild channel if anyone needs any. lastly: if your class has Stealth there is a special market for you & Enchanting because you can go with other Rogue/Druids and run a dungeon in smaller groups to get rare enchanting recipes/loot and skip a lot of the monsters.

Some classes like shaman tend to go towards mp5 gear. But you're already doing the grind for the healing formula, this one is a bonus :P

Wrong!!!!! Paladins cannot use daggers when you were talking about the fiery enchant you said every class can use skinning knife which is wrong! Paladins can not equipped daggers 🗡
