I'm a new and aspiring film maker who cautiously window-shops. Now these detuners pop up. I think this is it. Seeing the footage from the L2, the feeling was instant. I crave to bake the vintage look from films like Aliens but in a digital analogue format without having to post process. Thanks for the vid! Super excited for the film!

i think the key here is using good glass like the sigma - would love to see some cheap glass like even a 18-55 kit lens just for fun sometime. love these examples wish I could afford the tuner lol

Still would love to see a deeper dive on the detuning of lenses both in post and in camera. Any chance it's still coming?

When are you planning on releasing the short film shot with tuner and the bigger video on the main channel? I'm still on the fence whether if I should cop them or not, so I'd love to watch both of those videos from you!!

fuuuuuark I need this, but it's SO expensive cmompared to filters

there's just no other option that comes close that can change the bokeh/flare/falloff that also offers auto focus. you could buy 5 FD lenses or one of these (and also have auto focus)

Thanks for sharing. It would be nice to post images with and without Tuner (using same Sigma lens)..

I have the L2 tuner and a mint vintage Leica Summicron-R 35 mm lens… but no Leica/EF adapter 😫 I’d love to test that combo! However my Sigmas and L2 Tuner really create some magic! 🤩

I got rid of my Sigma... it was just too precise, a hard clinical robot eye. On the other hand there's a recent trend, possibly from The Batman onwards, towards super soft, super shallow looking stuff that I dislike also. We're all still chasing celluloid but still not quite getting there. If you look at a lot of movies from the past shot on film they often look quite defined, and often with a fairly deep dof. I was analysing a shot from E.T. recently where there is soil close to the bottom of the frame, in focus, under bright sunlight, and even when paused it just looks beautiful. So no shallow dof, no detuning, no frame rate question...no gate weave, no cinematic lighting....harsh sunlight on the ground...but still that delicious, super evocative celluloid magic is there, in a paused image of a patch of dirt. My current view on what's going on with the "film-look" is that it's actually sharp softness, or defined softness, plus a blending of the colours and light because of the nature of the crystals, plus the unique effect that highlights have on film and dynamic range. For those interested, the best film emulation that I've seen applied to digital source is probably Knives Out, from Steve Yedlin. Maybe 70% of the way there.

I don’t even like the film look. Much prefer the modern Fincher / Deakins aesthetic.

K35 is such a buzzword now... I would love to see a side-by-side. I love the K35, especially on FF or larger sensors.
