The FX30 is not the best camera in low-light but for a budget aps-c that shoots like this is enough. Option 2 would be the A6700, same sensor and all, only with the AI chip included.

I guess the "Anamorphic look" is lost on me, since I watched the whole White Elephant short and never realized they were shot on anamorphic. Guess I am just a bit of a cretin when it comes to the anamorphic look. I did like the lighting a lot though.

i dig the look, I agree with the corners and the flares, would much rather have that horizontal ratio to play with without some of the other anamorphic nuances that come with it. fun little film
@ChristopherKou11 күн бұрын
Both agree and disagree. I agree, it's story and skill. But it IS . . . all the other stuff too--lenses, grips, lighting--needed to implement the idea. Also, by shooting on an iPhone, I get that it's sort of an Apple flex, but you do severely limit yourself as far as convenience and usability. If I want to use lower to mid range camera with a small-ish sensor, I'd probably go with a Lumix GH7. At least it will have the functions you expect in a pro camera without having to constantly access and reset through touchscreens.

Nice sketch! And the Nanomorphs look amazing. What focal lengths did you use? I see the 42. Did you use the 32 and the 55 as well?

32 for the opening wide, 42 for everything except the inserts which were 85 (tickets, pillow, and one reaction shot near the end)

Very interesting ! But why upload the video in 16/9 letterboxed, when KZbin supports 2.39:1 ?
@sloppysteaks11 күн бұрын
this isn't 2.39. we shot open gate 6K which is 3:2, so final after desqueeze is 2.25:1 - and I prefer the letterbox over native, especially for online. it looks much better in the UI.

@sloppysteaks11 күн бұрын
ive made videos about the nightwalkers (they are not anamorphic), they don't hold a candle to these, and look more like re-housed photo lenses anyways. these are budget and cheap in the anamorphic space, especially with this quality.

What beautiful people in this clip! Anyone of them could tell stories on their own! The colours looked really rich and saturated. The only thing that called attention to itself was...the fact that I failed to grasp the idea behind the camera swaying into and away from the subjects so much. Perhaps to emphasise hand-held shooting by real cinematographers with real nervous systems and real muscles that can cramp up standing/crouching into from of the subjects so long? EDIT: I just watched it again at KZbin's normal speed instead of watching it at MY normal 2X speed. Whew! What do I want for Christmas thus year? A longer attention span!🤣 Mele Kalikimaka and Hau'oli Makahiki Hou to you and all your friends and family. 🎄

That short was awesome, man. Do you think the Sirui ones look better in comparison? Or the nightwalkers? I know those aren’t anamorphic but in terms of looks? Like if someone is trying to get a good look out of footage something like the Helios 44 (referring to your Batman video) do you think in your opinion any other budget anamorphic/cinema lenses come close to that look? Also, the lens you got on for this video has a real nice look too, what is it? Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, Patrick! From across the world from an aspiring filmmaker from Pakistan. Best wishes!🎄
