Sorry to disappoint your assumption of my own possession of a "thick skull" BUT there are a few smaller tweaks that could be beneficial for people in general such as the following; 1. wasting gold on ammo - this most definitely put hunters in a tough dilemma of having to double down on gold making troubleshooting and losing one bag space was just brutal. 2. Bag space and item stacking - horrible. So bad in fact that people had to resort to making alts to have extra space for everything. 3. No Guild Banks- ties with the previous. 4. No FP connections from one to another automatically. I mean I basically broke out a book to read or browsed my phone whilst having to stay put to connect to the next point and so on, sometimes spanning 5 FPs... Time waster. 5. If you made an error of forgetting something already on your way somewhere, well there goes your time again and your silver... Do you recall how actually tough it was at the beginning stages to actually make gold in the first place? Hell I didn't really set up an alt until my 30s because yeah between finding treasure chests, I would be busy with paying for skills and saving up for ground training (which was expensive AF for the 60% and I'm not even delving into the 100) Overall, I am curious to see the hype and will play it. Will I play it religiously? Well, the short answer is no as I work 40-45hr weeks and do enjoy weekend downtime without having to feel oppressed by a chore inducing game that is supposedly fun to play. So, I will look into it but I won't stay. There's MY thick skull explanation. I hope it enlightened your assumption of us Neanderthals. Have a great day!

To me there's a "Dur!" lingering in the air. One does not say "I'd like a slice of that original recipe carrot cake, please. But make mine without carrots or nuts." Change the original it's no longer original. Why the hell else would someone want to play classic WoW if not to experience that reality? Personally, I can't wait for UNCHANGED vanilla WoW. I am eager to return to that simplicity. To evoke the days when my husband, who'd played it all from Warcraft forward, was still alive and introduced me to Azeroth. When everything about WoW was new. I loved it. To have classic WoW and current content available? What a gift! Isn't it terrific that we will have the luxury of experiencing classic content AND being able to fast-forward up to BfA with its gadgetry and assists.

Why the hell else would someone want to play classic WoW if not to experience that reality? Because society the gaming industry has totally conned these manchildren who never played the vanilla game into honestly thinking that their voice or opinion matters. They don't want "Classic WoW", they just want another game to be terrible at, complete with exp multipliers and free shit. Instead of looking at a private server that does that shit, they'll just whinge on threads and act like graphics don't matter while calling for better graphics. I've been playing on Elysium and Kronos for a while now and what makes me laugh is all these people saying they play Vanilla for community and because current WoW is too easy with all the conveniences it has today, yet most players of Vanilla WoW have vQueue which allows you to find groups basically like LFG, minus the randomness, and they use Big Wigs or DBM for Endgame. They use Atlas Guides, pfQuest, Questie, or even Joana's Guide so they can mindlessly streamline 1-60, the only challenge is a time commitment. Let's not forget cookie cutter builds are no different than retail, every Priest in my raid team uses a damn near similar loadout. You have EngBags and Bagnon that make your bags simple, and I bet a bag-sorting feature could be added. Vanilla is fun, it's cool, I'm enjoying it like I did in 2005, but I don't enjoy it much more than retail. Make your own communities if that is what you crave, put yourself out there and form or join a guild.. stop using Vanilla as an excuse to why you're the one making retail bad for yourself. Play what you want but stop being a shithead towards one or the other. So, #nochanges or not, y'all will just download addons to make the game even easier than it is. Vanilla's hardest boss is getting 40 people together, the raids are cheesy.

That is true. I also play on Elysium. and I've never heard of vQueue... Everyone used mainly Guild/Friendlist/General Chat to find their groups while i've been playing. And Using a Leveling addon is boring imo. (Tried it, Found it very tedious) And the only addon i have downloaded is the ElvUI knock-off one. And the thing about Classic could be argued that It forced people to start communities... a Solo player in vanilla will have a much harder time compared to retail where you can get by easily as a solo player, and where being in a guild is considered "bad" for a majority of players. But i wont argue with the Hardest raid boss being able to gather 40 people. :P And most raidbosses in vanilla were easy.

I know how it looked likea and that's why I am bothered, especially when it comes to raiding. I know people want classic vanilla WoW, although I believe that if blizz actually took time to balance out the specs (and by that I mean only doing stuff like changing some numbers around when it comes to abilities / talents) it would be just even better for everyone. The only changes I would be okay with are bug fixes, the newer versions of UI, and the optional upgraded graphics upgrade option in the interface. That being said and I know I am in the minority here probably, I would like to see balance changes. I don't like the idea of dead specs. But I would want only number changes, no pruning or changing abilities or anything major. Do not bother with the comments saying "you asked for vanilla, don't whine"... that is just nonsense.

John doe, that train of thought is similar to. "Why sharp up the knife if it still cuts" This is why the arguments get heated up. There are 3 groups of people in the argument. Give me vanilla and nothing but vanilla Give me vanilla with every fucking topping you find Give me vanilla handmade fresh. Keep the functionality of the knife and utility but sharp it up. Improve graphics and optimization, this doesn't change the game to the absolute minimum, but only sharpness it. Fix exploits and bugs that weren't *supposed* to be in the first place. Ex keeping a group of healer out of combat during boss fights to res people => Exploit. Improve the management of mail, friendliest and events = How does this affect the game? Adapt UI to be able to use current add-ons so developers don't need to make LUA code from 10 years ago. Now tell me how does ANY of this changes could possible ruin the vanilla feeling?

I wanted to add something about vanilla that I never here people talk about. One of the main reasons I would prefer to play Vanilla over the current content is that it’s less overwhelming. Meaning that if you are some what ocd about collecting everything and doing everything in the game and have taken a few years off, you have a shit ton of catching up to do. Vanilla is a fresh and simple start that is not flooded with a bunch of random content. You can casual style Vanilla and not miss anything. Besides the war effort and people racing to clear content, it is actually pretty chill and relaxing.

I am glad they made this decision. The ONLY things I would change/ be okay to change would be: 1. A video option that lets you turn on the updated models and textures client side so only you see the graphical difference. 2. Something objectively worse by every measure that nobody can argue in good faith for, and that is the stack size of ammo and soulshards(bump them up to 1000). But I REALLY hope that they make it only 1 server, so it can seem just as populated as it was back then. If there is only 1 server, Nixxom will you join my guild?

The only changes I’d like are just making gold easier to stock up on, that way you can save up more easily for when you train up your riding skills, training for class and profession skills, if you have to purchase mats for profs at the auction house, etc.

I got impatient about a month ago and played for a few weeks on a private server. It was everything I remembered and I had a blast. Only made me more excited for official release. I stopped playing the private server because I want to save end game for classic when my friends are all playing. I can't speak for everyone, but I can absolutely say that your rose tinted goggles theory did not apply to me.

I played on Elysium from June-August last year. Got from 1-60 and ready with 95% pre-raid BiS, but then shortly after my son was born (just before the server melted in October) so never went back. I had a better time playing last year than I did over ten years ago.

WoW used to be a proper mmorpg, and everyone had fun. Then, everything changed when Activision attacked. Only Jeff Kaplan, master of long, story-driven grand adventure questlines, could revive the game. But when Blizzard needed him most, he vanished. Ten years have passed since the game was any good, and Jeff is still entrenched in his Overwatch project. But I believe...Jeff can be the one original developer who will return to make dungeons and adventuring fun again.

Ask yourselves the following, you join and start playing just like 2004 with all the good and bad the game had, you get to 60 after months of grinding, start raiding and get your gear. After a certain point youre going to get tired of doing the same raids, and by then people will start asking for classic BC and them WoTLK, etc Then what? Are they going to keep classic wow just on vanilla? Or they are going to keep opening it up to the next expansions at some point? Whats the point of this again exactly?

I know that when Vanilla servers will be up and running, I'll go play for... I dunno... an hour or so? Then I'll be bored out of my mind because I've played enough of Vanilla back then, and I'll go back to Battle for Azeroth. Maybe I'll try to quest in zones that have been too heavily changed by Cataclysm, just out of nostalgia... But most of all, I'll be curious to see how the stats on these servers work out. If they'll actually end up being constantly full of people, or if they'll die out for reasons like players not wanting to pay their sub to keep playing on a server that'll never get any updates. Or maybe some players will try to play on both current and Vanilla servers at the same time? Really curious to see how it plays out.

There is (besides things like Colorblind mode and maybe bnet stuff) one thing, im crumbeling about: AQ War Efforts, because blizzlike warefforts on blizzlike private servers were usually done in 2 days. We must keep in mind tho, no changes, mean no changes 2 the server pop. So we could divide it by about 5 (and with that multiply the days by 5) and get 10 days. Back in the day war efforts lastet about 3-9weeks tho.

I prefer low res armor on new models vs low res armor and model. The only thing i wouldnt mind seeing that could be seen major is for all the classes to actually be viable. I don't understand why so many people are arguing about the graphics. I support nochanges but when it comes to gameplay. Upgraded visuals will not interfere with the gameplay in any way, it will only enhance it and make it more enjoyable experience. It will interfere gameplay if they start adding bulshit like LFG, LFR, showing you quest locations on map and etc. I am against this kind of changes, but updated viauals won't do any harm by any means, it will actually be really silly to play in late 2019/2020 a game with 2004 graphics. Also I wouldn't mind if they put achievements for the classic version, again it won't interfere with the classic experience, it will only enhance it because it will make you more occupied and give you more reasons to do stuff in the world, but this is more like a neutral thing, either way I will enjoy it. That's just my 2 cents. People should stop losing their minds about some graphic changes that won't do any harm to their game experience.

What I still want is for your Classic account to be under some sort of observation linked to your Live account, so if you pick up mounts/items/etc in Classic they show up in your collection in Live. No changes to the Classic experience, there's just some program in the background paying attention. Two reasons for that: 1) I want to get things I missed (especially stuff I DID get but I had lost by the time the collections came around), and 2) It'd encourage more people to try it out, giving the Classic servers more of the population they need and, more importantly, ensuring that there'll be a steady supply of people dropping back into it over time, instead of a big flood when it's released and then just dead game after a while.

I think doing that would be a pretty cool thing for the game IP as a whole. In the likely event that it will have a monthly fee i would at least play for month off and on to try to get things farmed for trasmoged such as old gear from recipes no longer in the game since cataclysm. Though i suppose they could add old versions of dungeons raids, with quests tied to though dungeons and raids in the dungeon for stuff that can be no longer gotten.

100% agree with Nixxiom. If you want Classic (Vanilla) World of Warcraft, you support no changes. If you claim to want to play "Vanilla" with modifications that make the game more convenient, go play on a private server that offers it, but just know that the "game" you're playing on that server is not Vanilla WoW; it is a bastardised version of it. Vanilla WoW was hard, buggy, and inconvenient, and for these reasons and more, it created many fond memories that made Vanilla memorable and ultimately what makes it nostalgic. Here's a thought for you. If you want to play official Vanilla content, on official Blizzard servers WITH all the nice things that WoW has today, join a level 60 guild and go stop your experience gain at level 60. You can raid molten core, progress through to BWL and more. The reason very few people do that is because the lack of all the advanced and modern systems that WoW offers changes the game. Implementing these things into Vanilla, such as LFG, ruins the whole point.

Nowadays you could run into a lv 96 player and he'll be in a full set of gear, as soon as he gets a new piece he mounts on the Yak and mogs it away. I just want what made vanilla great. No automatic queues meant that people had to use chat to find others to group with and socialise (I made many friends this way). 40 person raid instances that meant normal raiding guilds were 60-80 people in size and felt like a family. No cross server instances meant that friends you made would be there playing with you next time. From what I see of modern wow, its a lonely game that encourages self isolation and enough class self sustainability to complete game objectives without the help of others.

i can confirm the 5 man team thing myself, can't say how but i know that is true or was up until very recently at the very least. the implications of that tend to make me think very few changes will be happening. bnet integration will for sure be happening, so i would also expect your firends list to look different than it did in vanilla which might also mean the chat box will look more like current wow chat, but outside of that i wouldn't expect any changes other than bug fixes.

Yeah... No. Blizzard said that they have no backup of Vanilla wow. They just made changes along the way, not bothering about legacy. I support the No Changes for Vanilla WoW. In Vanilla, you actually HAD to put time and effort to fight off "Trash" Mobs and no damn Heirloom Gear to power level a toon. Just you, your computer and your frustration as the Leveling took weeks. But you know what? That was what made it so good! If they ever do make any changes with any Expansion Content (Not saying add the whole Expansion) then as far as I will go Lore-Wise would be Lich King. Otherwise, leave it alone. :)
