Does anyone know how long grilled winter squid remains the best agi / agility (10min + 10Agi / agility) buff Food? Is there a better Buff food in the next phases 3-6? Rogues get the smoked desert dumplings 15min + 20 strength in phase 4 or 5. Does anyone know or can still remember the vanilla time?

Horstpeterklaus what I can tell you is that I looked up on Classic WoWHead and Grilled Squid is that only good buff that grants us any sort of buff to Agility. I don’t think there’s anything else sadly. Even later in the game.

Great Video like always. On our first guild run of BWL, the xbow dropped and I was asked not to roll since I can't join most of the runs on weekends. I understand that the guild needs to do well with DPS and the like, but I still felt pretty bad. Would have loved to have that damage increase. Hopefully I can get somewhere down the line :P

For 1 hander you might want to look at Tooth of Eranikus from Sunken temple wich has 1% hit and 6 strength, it gives great versatility because of the hard to get hit items and lack of hit on the Dragonstalker set. However it makes melee weaving bad, on the other hand I would definitely go for a strong 2 hander like Ashkandi to switch to, in case i needed to weave in some melee attacks.

Aye, yea, there's a lot of noise around what's "BiS". And what you learn is that you're better off just going the route that's most easily accessible to you. I go Ashjre'thul and Ashkandi two/three weeks ago and I love Melee Weaving! :D

What I don't understand is why you have 7 int on bracers. I have read on many places that it's better than 1 agi however when I have done some calculations it doesn't add up for me. Firstly I can't see 7 int giving value on any boss where you don't go oom, which isn't that many bosses. Secondly since it doesn't give any value before you go oom you need to use your full mana pool in order to count it in and when I look at it the amount of attacks that you have to do in order to go oom are so many that 1 agi still becomes better than 7 int. And lastly on sustain fights like ony with only 20 people and such you only get value once and then the mana pots and dark runes will have to keep you topped either way and 1 agi will give value all the way till the end. So I'm just wondering am I missing something here?

you're not missing anything, it's one of those things where I simply didn't change it before hand. If you check out my Discord I have everything laid out for Enchants, Talents and more concerning BiS. I wasn't too focused on the Enchants for those. Didn't mean to confuse you ;)

Justin Wang yes. Ribsplitter is actually Main Hand BiS. Only problem is, for me anyway, is that I can’t ever seem to find the stupid thing lol. So I only focused on drops that are most likely obtainable. Because Ribsplitter is already like a 1% drop rate off of mobs in BRD, but then you have the RNG of it rolling Agi over another 10 or 11 other variations. To me, BSH would be better over all. Just for ease of access.

Well, these numbers always fluctuate. What I've come to learn is that it is anywhere between 32-37 Attack Power for a single percent crit. So, again, the decision is ultimately up to you as the Hunter. The more I think about it, as an Alliance player, I believe that the best answer is to rely more on the pure Agility of BSH or Ribsplitter, b/c we have Blessing of Kings; otherwise, I feel like you should go for the crit, unless you feel like the AP loss is too great. That's really a decision only you can make.

Roman Jaroshuk aye. They are actually are best Pre-Raid BiS here. It goes like this: Dal’Rends, Ribsplitter of Agility + BSH, Dual BSH, Dual Assassination Blades, Dual Dawns Edges. Of course this is assuming you have yet to pick up CHT AND BB.

See, every Raid has it differently, but I believe that's exactly what we have it sat as too. I already have mine, but it really needs to go a bit deeper for Hunters. It should be MT > Rogue = Feral > 8/8 T2 Hunters > Warriors w/o QSR > All Other Hunters

Just saying, duel bone slicing hatchets with +15 Agility nets you 1% crit (53 agi =1% crit, enchanted hatchets pre buffs grant you 56 agi) and 112 AP. That is why people say its BIS. You gain more attack power while sacrificing less than 1% crit due to buff scaling.

If any new hunter still watches this, to catch up or something:as alli, go for bsh as prebis. Agi scales with BoK and spirit of zandalar. 26agi from 2xBSH is more like~ 30 agi in raid, meaning 60 ap + a bit more than half a crit.

by far and away, yes. The Agi offers us not only 60 RAP, but also more than a half % chance to crit. Whereas Ony only offers us 1% crit and 12 RAP. Not even a close comparison. The Eye of Hakkar would be better than Ony neck even.

ATH_ Kostasvrika depends on what you’re wearing. If you have Accuria and are in T1 then yes it’s a great option. It’s actually better than the ZG rings are going to be thanks to being able to replace 3% scope with +7 damage scope.

Crown is only very slightly better than t2. It shouldn’t go to a warrior though. We’ve always given ours to anyone wanting to go enhance shaman.

Rodog aye. I myself have both T2 Helm and Crown. I personally like T2 better. But Crown is a far superior option for PvP. So it really boils down to preference I guess. We have to remember. As Alliance we have things like Blessing of Kings which effects Agility. Horde doesn’t have such options. So raw Agility from things like Tier Sets are going to win out over done pieces like Crown. Now as a Horde player. It might be a bit different. I won’t pretend I know which is better in there case. The choose just boils down to availability and preference.

@@rodog504 see for me crit is far more beneficial to me than anything else in PVP. Remember too that you can swap out trinkets for Shadow and Frost reflectors for specific fights. Albeit it requires you to be an ENG, otherwise you're not wrong. Like the way you think mate!

Always, always, always keep your hit cap. you shouldn't be having problems with hit cap if you have Biznicks scope. So please be sure you get that as soon as possible.

Zera Yeah I’m going back through to see that! I learned the 32 AP = 1% crit thing as well and basically from a value perspective just ruled everything out except the BSHs. Rib and Dal Rend are just too difficult to farm. Dal is even worse because I have to do a pre-made or give it up because I literally get threatened or dropped as a Hunter if I come into group and say “...as a warning I’m rolling for swords.”

Hey Zera, great video. However, say you do get your hands on Drakefang and Accuria, there would be no need to run both with that gear setup when you can just drop Accuria for Quick strike ring if you have it. Otherwise you are gonna be hit overcapped for no reason.

This is not necessarily true. If you are still rocking T1 you can achieve full hit cap without the 3% Scope, granting you an even higher weapon damage ceiling. Something to keep in mind too, same is true about T2 as well, but that would also require Puissant Cape from Azurgoes, but it is still possible to Rhok the +7 Damage Scope on Ash in full T2 which allows for even higher weapon damage. :)

So QSR isn't even an option for a lot of folks. And, while I know World Bosses are impossible for most folks, I just put it out there as an option. cape of black baron vs shrouded mist really depends on weither you are alliance or horde because shrouded mist scales better with blessing of kings, then black baron. so for Horde there is really no point in shrouded mist.. imo (unless you are going for lightning reflexes "survival"). also you are not taking into account that a 2h weapon is a lot better for adding melee into your rotation (which if the boss allows it, is the peak of hunter dps.)

oh no, you're not wrong. But, you might be shocked to see the difference between Baron and Mists. It's actually almost a non-existent difference in DPS. But as for 2-handers, I specifically waited until had both Ashkandi and Ashjre'thul to begin my melee weaving journey. So now that this is a reality, prepare for lots of melee weaving videos.

Afaik all our 4 hunters have both the core hound tooth and the brutality blade, by now. I don't think we got particularly lucky, either. Pretty much anyone on their mains is running around with these. That being said, on an alt or if you have to pug some people to fill the ranks, that'll be harder to do.

This is a pretty unfair statement to make actually. If this is the case and you have 4 hunters with them, then you definitely got lucky. I have yet to see a single Hunter on my entire server running around with either of these two weapons. Point of fact, we've only had 1 of each drop in the entire duration of Classic. And we were the first guild on Pagle to fully clear MC in the first month. Congratulations either way mate, but please understand that you are incredibly lucky. Happy Hunting!

bmdfragile I was simply referring to a couple ZG trinkets. Like the one that resets the cool down on Aimed Shot and Multi Shot. Then there’s also the RAP Trinket from ZG as well. These are Charm of Beasts and Zandalarian Hero Medallion respectively. There’s also the Devilsaur Eye as well coming with Phase 3’s release.

MannYSJ now see. You’ve got the same idea that I do. I personally own two Assassination Blades. So I’m probably going to be content with them having +15 Agi. To me the choice really is a toss up. Because you essentially gain 1.5% more crit from the dual ABs. But you gain almost double the AP from the dual BSHs. That’s a decision. You have to make as the Hunter.

SgtBlaketon you are absolutely right on crit suppression. And that’s totally based on tour weapon skill. Since Alliance more or less is stuck with 300 skill, without things like the LBRS Gloves, then we are suppressed by like a given ~4% ish amount. So I’ve come to the realization that Dual BSH will be what I aim for. I would love dal rends though. Just don’t think I can farm those up in the time I’m going to have before P3. We’ll have to wait and see.

Not even a mention on Dal rends? Its 50 AP + 1% crit, +30 agility enchant gives you 110 ap+ 1% crit. So that gives the most amount of AP there is in the game atm. No Blade + tooth gives 2% crit + 38 attack power wich is more value. But the Dal rends give the most AP :) Coming for a super hunter who did in total 7 runs in UBRS to get both in a good manner :) Keep up the content!

Adam Donaruma Dal’Rend is nice. But Dal’Rend isn’t really an option for a lot of people. Mainly because of how much competition there is for it. I for one was never going to fight over a Warrior or a Rogue for them. Just wasn’t a point. Since they are essentially stat sticks.

Expose weakness is about 7% uptime, Hunters should be using 8/8 t1 until Naxx when they get t3. The 8pc t2 is a waste of a debuff slot.

Great guide, however I think you are giving too much credit to crit% on gear. With raid and world buffs giving over 10%, it is quite easy to hit 33.33% crit chance, which is optimal statistically unless aiming for 50%.

people over-rate hunter t1 8/8....don't get me wrong, its amazing and you get some huge MS crits. BUT the extra stats you gain whilst getting t2, soon starts to add to your auto and aimed dmg (which accounts for more of your dps than multi), to the point where overall the 8/8 t1 gets slightly over-taken (fight dependent, still worth ti to use on some more aoe heavy fights). Also at the stage where all hunters get full t2, full t2 wins because it creates better expose uptime. Oh and one other item to factor in is, if you are able to work the pvp gloves in to your setup, you can regain 4% on multis (ofc not if you have full t2). there's a reddit thread where the math was done for all the weapon combinations dal'rends (if set) actually wins...but a pain to try get followed by ribsplitter of agility + bone slicing and then bone slicing x 2 the crit combinations with dawns/assassinations are up there but they still run behind the other options, only by 1 or 2 dps.. 1 crit is really only worth around 32 AP

I love the detailed response here, thank you for that. However, you might be shocked to learn that the math doesn't exist yet. We have zero empirical data to support how T2's 8-piece set bonus will actually function. Private Servers, as we all have come to learn, had everything wrong (more or less). And there are zero numbers dating back far enough to accurately predict what we are going to see. However, you are correct on Dal'Rend set. It does win out, only problem is you still have to compete with Rogues, Warriors for them. So, I more or less just ignore them for the sake of my sanity. On the topic of numbers being better by comparison for T1 vs T2, you're not wrong here either. And on the surface, you are correct in assuming Auto Shots, Aimed Shots and everything else will be sufficient to overtake T1. Again, however, you miss an important factor when considering T1. Assuming you have DFT, which will take forever for a Hunter to get one, but even if you do and are wearing full 8/8 T2...you will still require Biznick's 3% Scope. Whereas you will have the opportunity to place +7 Damage scope on Ash as opposed to Biznick's 3% Scope when wearing 8/8 T1 with DFT. So, again, the numbers will more or less balance themselves out. We're talking a measly 38 RAP when comparing T2 over T1, sure you do gain close to 1.4% Crit as well, but - and there will be another video on this later - my money is still on the 15% Multi-Shot boost to overtake T2. Especially when you consider all of the other factors I've mentioned previously, i.e. +7 Damage Scope, another Hunter rocking 8/8 T2 to boost MS's damage component even more, etc. My last thing to note is that I love this, I love having these discussions. I think it makes us all better. And honestly, come P4 (likely P3.5) with the release of ZG, you will likely be correct in assuming T2 will overtake T1, because by then we will have our 1% Hit enchants to throw on our Shoulders and Legs. So GS's advantage to have +7 Damage scope will no longer be a solo act, seeing as T2 will now have that same capability, but ONLY if that Hunter in 8/8 T2 has obtained DFT by that point. well my response does some what depend upon maintaining that hit cap I currently run 2 different sets of gear Either full t1 or t2 helm + legs, blue pvp gloves + boots (4% multi + 20 agi set bonus) rest t1 + ony neck and trueflight wrists, maintaining hit cap. 2nd set has given me my highest Onyxia parse, and my logs run very close for both. When they're put through simulators the difference is coming out at like 1 dps in favour of full t1. Which is my reasoning behind believing that the stat increase from t2 willl out-weigh the 8/8 t1 (outside of aoe heavy fights). It does require very specific pieces though and also that you can get those pvp gloves involved AND maintain hit cap but i dostill think full t2 will out-perform full t1 on single target encounters.

Rev0UK1 I am excited to see if the numbers play out that way. Honestly, to me, and I’m not a big fan of saying “one size fits all”, but I’d rather hold out to see. You make an amusing arguement but you dont seem to be factoring in that the buff will be up TONS more often with 3-4 hunters having the full 8 piece resulting in more overall damage. I mean sure feed it to one hunter at a time but there is no way its more overall damage to keep all hunters but one in T1 gear.

Phase 3 & 4 B.I.S. List for hunters depends on how many hunters are in your raid. Depending on the amount of hunters, depends on your specs, and each spec has a different BIS list. There is NO ABSOLUTE BIS LIST FOR ALL SPECS. We have 5 hunters. All parce in the 95% + bracket on every fight. We have 3 different specs for PVE. Cloak of Shrouded Mists is better only if your deep survival spec. Predators talisman is not better than Ony Neck unless your Deep Survival Spec with +15% agility. Drake fang Talisman is BIS even in naxx, you trinket swap through your burst cd’s, then put Drakefang..... its like your unaware of this.. T2 is better only in deep survival spec. Deep survival specs (aka “Alpha Spec”) are placed in groups with MM hunters with trushot and will far out damage the rest of the hunters on single target fights over 1 minute..... and all hunters will switch tier sets depending on the fight just like you switch talents in retail depending on single target or aoe... I appreciate you trying to help HUNTARDS... but your wrong so often it’s fucked... THERE IS NO BIS LIST for every fight for every spec........

Zevra what do you know about the "soft crit cap" that hunters have in classic. Is this a myth or fact?

Most people speculate about this. I’ve found most sources state that it’s around ~24% for us. Since we have Lethal Shots, that translates to ~19% baseline. The idea is that Crit becomes less valuable at that point and RAP overtakes it as priority. Personally, I think it’s mostly hogwash. But the only way to know if it’s accurate or not is to test it. I suggest looking up WatchYourSixxx’s DPS Calculator for Hunters and testing the results that way. Good luck mate!

Tanner Helgeson I found something you might like. Here’s the truth about crit cap. TL;DR, it’s a myth. Crit and AP both have the same decline as suggested in the graph they have, and they're both linearly related to each other. Meaning per point of AP, the damage added from crit increases by the same amount at a given amount of AP, and the damage added from AP increases by the same amount per point of crit for a given percent of crit. This means that if you were to stack 1000 AP no crit, adding 1% crit would be worth 50-60 AP, or having 50% crit, 500 AP and adding 50 AP would be worth a lot more than just 50 AP. Bottom line is there is no "break point, or soft cap" where you want AP over crit or vice versa. The stat weights change based on the gear you have, higher AP means more value from crit because you hit harder and you crit harder. Higher crit means more value from AP because you crit more. There is a hardcap due to gear/enchants limitations however, around 64%.

A lot of wrong information being feed here. The more hunters with 8/8 dragon stalker the more debuff procs that will occur. if multiple hunters have 8/8 they should absolutely wear 8/8t2 period. 2nd, Ashkandi is hunter prio for melee weaving. When a hunter's aim shot and multi shot are on cool down, you should run in and raptor strike and alternate your auto shot and auto attack because they are on separate timers.

james varga opinions vary shippy. There’s literally no data that supports what your saying. Even on the Hunter Discord it’s widely known that we have little to no idea how frequently the debuff will occur. Also, there’s zero evidence to support the idea that more people wearing T2 would cause the debuff to occur more frequently. But please. Pour our more salt. It tastes delicious! :)

@@57tigey Plus, too, you're assuming that everyone is either capable of Melee weaving properly or they even desire too. It's not entirely necessary to melee weave constantly. It's actually better to only melee weave on specific fights. The highest parsed Hunters can prove that just from their numbers. As for me, I'll stick with the bread and butter of my class. Only time I'll melee weave is when it makes a bit more sense to do so, i.e. Garr or Gehennas. Remember too, all of us (yes, that includes you too) were terrible players back then. I can assure you that we are all much better tactically. Especially at interpreting analysis and what the numbers are really saying, as opposed to how we did 15 years ago. So, I am betting your memory isn't going to be as accurate as you might think. Hell, I've had to eat Crow on stuff I swore was one way and it turns out I was completely wrong. Time will tell one way or the other though.
