Classic Wow Ret paladin Bis list BWL Phase 3

Old video I know, but I quit classic once we had BWL on farm. I am a ret main since vanilla and I used Nightfall axe in raids and for shoulders, Earthslag from black rock depths gives strength int and spell damage. I used those untill I got drake pauldrons.

storm gauntlets only benefits from spell crit though, worth running without onyxia buff? i have them but my guild isn't exactly willing to let me dps in raids with this, so i haven't had a chance to test it

Legit give them a go in a MC, they are 100 percent worth. Although they do NOT proc nightfall from what i have heard. These gauntlets will increase your vengeance uptime.

Hey man, Is Razor Gauntlets ( From DM Eeast ) are such efficient like a storm gauntlets?

Razor gauntlets only do dmg when you take dmg, so i would say no

what's your usual dps in this gear? i'm 7/8 t2 by now, with ancient hakkari manslayer and a righteousness spec instead of command, end up doing around 230 dps (although on lower level elites, probably less dps on higher levels since im not hit capped). although i've got less crit with this, the faster weapon gives me equally good vengeance uptime. also with more int, spell crit increases, so storm gauntlets work way better

Black Dragonscale 3 pieces litterally solves your Shoulder/Boots/Legs problem? 100+ AP 1% Hit 2% Crit

That is tru, lots of AP that I need. The main concern is cost vs reward of black dragon scale. Its def better, but without 3 piece it's sort of bad. So 1 BWL price invalidates the whole set

So going for the set, might not be worth at this point. Devilsaur is a good alternative, and a bit more cost effective.

Kicka agreed it isn’t cheap, I just bought black dragon scale 3 piece myself cos I’m preparing to craft Nightfall so I can raid as ret (fingers crossed lol) - but as soon as I can get something like Legguards of the fallen crusader it will kinda be hard to drop the 3 piece bonus of black dragon set

Ashkandi is better than rag due to most mobs being resistant to the fire proc on rag

@kicka I completely agree Ashkandi is the best weapon in game for ret pallies currently, with possibly hand of rag edging it out. I was lucky enough to get Ashkandi on my paladin on the first Nefarion kill for my guild a couple weeks ago and it’s amazing!

Imo, BRE is the best 2h weapon in classic. when you have 3 stacks up there is no weapon in game that deals more dmg. after BRE i would go for hand of rag or Untaimed blade. Since Untaimed blade and BRE has the same proc chance. Untaimed blade is better than BRE with 1 proc, but soon as u get your second proc with BRE the BRE becomes stronger.

Kristian Henriksson that would be correct if the proc rates were reliable for a paladin. However as a ret paladin you only get ~23 melee attacks per minute, thAts including seal of command procs on a 3.5 speed weapon. With the 7% proc rate on those weapons you simply won’t see enough uptime on the buffs to overcome the raw dps increase that Ashkandi has in comparison. Logs are out there, just check them out on Classic.warcraftlogs. On the vast majority of fights a ret paladin averages about 15% uptime with bre and utb procs. They don’t add up!

Kristian Henriksson here’s a link to one of the highest parsing paladins in BWL. He’s using TUB, and you can see it’s proc rate is very low for him. Unfortunately not a lot of logs are posted with the blade yet. But all the logs that are posted have very similar results to this. Very very poor uptime. On multiple fights the uptime is 0%, and the highest uptime on any of the fights is 22%. classic.warcraftlogs.com/reports/N4fTCg6anrjDMYhF#fight=2&type=auras&ability=23719 guides that list TUB and BRE as BiS over Ashkandi are using inaccurate private server data that has proc rates that simply don’t line up correctly in Classic. @@WoWSoka here is my logs from my golemagg run. classic.warcraftlogs.com/reports/ptRPTgXZKHybNWYh#fight=8&type=auras&source=30 im not good at looking things up from wcl but if i understood correctly i had BRE proc up 69,09% of the fight. correct me if i am wrong? that seems pretty nice. i had 21 melee swings hits and 4 procs. Does SoC give chance to proc the bre proc? if it does i had 9 hits. But in generally when i play i think the proc is up alot i havent checked it from logs but just a general feeling i have that i see it up pretty often.

T2 is actually good for resistance gear and if you want to have some int/sp and use 1-2 pieces. SoC scales with spell-power remember.

Some spell power is nice, but the main premise of Deep ret builds is to try and get the highest up time of vengeance. So having agi/crit is vital to maintaining a higher dps. That is why items like like the shoulders are soo big for us. But some spellpower is nice, although not as big as getting crit. For a spellpower build it is more important but im not running that right now :)

As ret 1 str = 3 ap usally (if speced).

Basically a bad warrior with unused spell potential. Ret Paladins, your build was made to be combined with spell power, why would you throw away T2 and PvP gear to compete with a warrior, just roll a warrior then.

@@williamwebb1985 So the helm is a sleeper hit imo, replacing it with crown of destruction is prob the choice. The cloak is fine until you get cloak of the black baron. The shoulders are good, but maybe look to the AB shoulders or rocking the black dragonscale shoulders and boots. Then the last pieces are maybe getting Don Julio's ring to replace Gurubashi berserk, and Hand of Justice for Sanctified Orb.

Its alot, but i think your headed in the right direction, also maybe if you want look towards a hybrid build if you want to add some more spell dmg to your build. If you want, im not doing it personally but it seems to be a big thing in the top 5 percent of parsing. When T2.5 comes in we all will be hybrid building with spell dmg

The legs in Dm W are actually really good. As well as devilsaur. But I will say, the legs of the fallen Crusader are def better.

Tim Butler the dm west pants are objectively the best dps pants for a retribution paladin pre-BWL and the fallen crusader leggings. But you don’t see many people using them for 2 reasons. 1: the devilsaur leggings are almost as good. They’re leather but using them you lose ~.5 % crit and gain 14 attack power. So they’re barely better than devilsaur which are a guaranteed item. 2: again with devilsaur. Most ret pallies use the gloves and leggings of devilsaur for a solid 2% crit and 2% hit. Unless you’re over the 6% for humans or 9% for dwarfs you don’t want to drop the devilsaur set, even with the DM West pants being better.
