If Infinite Dreams is actually underrated - and I don‘t think so, it may be because of the strong competition on this album. And sure there are lots of Maiden fans that basically don‘t like the „guitar synth/keys era“ (Somewhere in Time, 7th Son).

A lot of rock musicians in that timeframe didn’t necessarily understand the science/psychology behind the changes but would sometimes experiment and run with what feels right to them. Back when I was in bands we would go with our gut without knowing why a certain change works. It’s a very organic way to come up with some fun and unique arrangements. Fun to see you, with your level of understanding and expertise, dissect songs like this. I hope you keep this up. It’s so much fun

Contrary to the majority of folks here, I would like to propose a song with as many unusual (for Maiden) scales as it gets - El Dorado. Guitarwise, If I am correct: 1. the verse is in E Dorian, 2. the bridge is in C# Lydian Diminished, 3. the Chorus in G Minor, 4. the instrumental/solo interlude is in: 4.1. A Phrygian (the solo thrown over it is in D Harmonic Minor), 4.2. E Minor (solo + backing guitars) 4.3. B Phrygian (the solo thrown over it is a typical Jannick Gers' mess, with some B Pentatonic Blues inclusions) E Minor (almost) nowhere to be found! :) Up the Irons! \m/

I listened to the analysis of "the Prophecy" and "the seventh son of a seventh son" and they were fantastic, but I believe that this album should be heard as a whole to have the complete feeling of the work, as it is a single story , like a movie or book and each song works as a chapter of that work. "Seventh Son" had some common threads, and some connected songs, but it didn't develop into a full-blown concept album. They started down that path, but didn't carry it through to the full extent. @BAMozzy69
@BAMozzy69 3 жыл бұрын
@@Bad_Wolf_Media It is a Concept album inspired by the novel 'Seventh Son' by Orson Card. The idea to base the album around the folklore concept of the seventh son of a seventh son came to bassist Steve Harris after he read Orson Scott Card's Seventh Son.[3] Harris stated, "It was our seventh studio album and I didn't have a title for it or any ideas at all. Then I read the story of the seventh son, this mystical figure that was supposed to have all these paranormal gifts, like second sight and what have you, and it was more, at first, that it was just a good title for the seventh album, you know? But then I rang Bruce and started talking about it and the idea just grew. I know Dickinson himself said later that its more of a 'half Concept Album. According to Harris, the band "spent more time checking up on each other to see what everybody else was up to, just to make sure the story fitted properly and went somewhere". To make sure each song fit with the record's concept, the band drew up a basic outline for the story, which Harris states "didn't make the actual writing any easier ... I probably took longer over the writing I've done on this album than any I've done before. But the stuff we all started coming up with, once we'd agreed that we were definitely going for a fully fledged 'concept' album, really startled me. It was so much better than anything we'd done in ages". So Harris himself considers it a concept album and each song does 'follow' on - even if its not a 'concept' album like Operation: Mindcrime for example.

Bruce is a phenomenal singer, but my favorite Maiden album is Powerslave. I got into Maiden with Piece of Mind, but their musicality really exploded with Powerslave. As defining as Number of the Beast was, even Bruce has said it was Number of the Beast and Powerslave that put them on another level.

In my opinion The Prophecy is a relative short song because it is the transition to the one of the biggest song of the record, Clairvoyant then followed by last song Only The Good Die Young. This is my favorite Iron Maiden record and it will be awesome if you can react to Moonchild which is the opening track!

To be honest, I find it very hard to pick a favorite Maiden song, especially from the 80's. I always say that "Hallowed Be Thy Name" is my personal favorite, but every damn song gives me the chills. Anyway, I would like to give you a short list of songs you must definitely react to. Well, here it goes: 1. Iron Maiden - Where eagles dare 2. Iron Maiden - Caught somewhere in time 3. Iron Maiden - Sign of the cross 4. Iron Maiden - Infinite dreams 5. Genesis - Firth of fifth 6. Genesis - Supper's ready 7. Genesis - In the cage 8. Genesis - Cinema show 9. Uriah heep - Paradise\the Spell 10. Uriah heep - Salisbury 11. Uriah heep - Circle of Hands 12. Uriah heep - The Magician's birthday 13. Jethro Tull - Thick as a brick 14. Jethro Tull - Bouree 15. Jethro Tull - Locomotive breath 16. Jethro Tull - My God 17. Rainbow - Stargazer 18. Rainbow - Gates of Babylon 19. Ken Hensley - The Last Dance OK ! I kept it short Nice job Doug, I really like your reaction videos. Stay true ! Fotis from Greece

I played in an Iron Maiden tribute band that learned about 50 of their songs. We had a 3-guitar lineup so we could recreate the newer material faithfully, but even with the extra guitarist and having a singer that could play keyboards we struggled with this song because of all the moving parts involved, so I definitely get why Maiden never played it live. Though I’d definitely argue that Alexander The Great was the most difficult song they ever created.
