I re-glued an old Hondo H308A bridge using thin coats of Titebond on the bridge and the lower top very carefully. I used 2* 1/8" machine screws and wing nuts to ensure the bridge is flat and snug to it (after it set well the 2 1/8" holes were re-filled with snug glued dowels... and let it all dry for 24 full hours. It worked well and I did NOT need to buy any clamps for the bridge... just 2 X 2" screws and matching wing nuts.

Thanks for your question. If there is a crack you have to glue it because the damage on the Instrument can get much bigger if you don't take care about this issue. Best Regards Nik

Great video, as always. I was wondering, when you were cleaning the gluing area: Were you worried at all about the remaining thickness of the soundboard? Could it become too thin?
@petrekguitars Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for your positive feedback. That’s a good question. Yes that is possible but to avoid this I try just to clean up the old glue and by sanding this area with 80 grid Sandpaper I produce a roughly surface that the new glue get as much grip as possible. This is a old Japan made Classical Guitar they have very thick tops. You have to be careful with handmade Spanish Guitars they are very thin. Best Regards Nik

Great video! I have a Washburn Classical that has a ripped out bridge. It has an internal mic and pickup so I cant really remove the bridge to sand it. The bridge is completely covered in wood that ripped out with ridges in a WWW profile. Can I just glue it back without sanding both sides? If not, is it because this wood is compromised? if so, Is there a reason why gluing flat to flat wood would be better. Thanks!
@petrekguitars2 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot for your positive feedback and your question. I understand the problem. The thing is if you make this temporary fix I assume that it won't last long. It's unavoidable to remove the old glue and wood fibers because the new glue don't have any opportunity to soak into the Material. Sure you can try it with epoxy but this not the correct way to repair such an issue. Hope this will help you out. Best Regards Nik

I was wondering, if the bridge already has holes in it does that mean it has been repaired before? Or do some guitars have the holes already in the bridge? Mine ripped off while playing and I'm just wondering if someone did a bad repair last time.
@petrekguitars6 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot for watching and for your question. Sometimes they have holes factory vise because they us it as pilot holes to glue the bridge on the to ion the correct position. Best Regards Nik

I have a Folk guitar that is peeling off the bridge, it is old and was given to me as a gift, I want to repair it, do you advise me to take the tension off the strings until I get it repaired or do I leave the guitar in tune?

Why score the back of the bridge (8:12)?
@petrekguitars8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question. I have learnt that on my Luthier School. Rosewood can be very oily and the cutting or scraping allows the glue to get a better grip. Don't do this on the spruce to it will weaken the Wood and the fibers can get damaged. Best Regards Nik

Sino se tiene pez o cola de resina natural, lo mejor es usar cola blanca de carpintero la comun y silvestre para el pegado de las partes de un instrumento.
@petrekguitars2 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot for sharing. I mostly use Titebond Glue and sometimes Fish Glue. Depends on the situation. Best Regards Nik
@LuisREINOSO7292 ай бұрын
