@jessicajones92234 жыл бұрын
All those efforts, only for SM to de-hyped them though. With the one late MV release. But it begs the question of why tf it was late?? Some said due to the CG. Some said it's because the original scene is way spicier so they had to cut and tone it down...
@Frandahab4 жыл бұрын
@@jessicajones9223 I don't think it was spicier as in gayer or anything like that. I was reading through some stuff and people were mentioning how Irene's scene with a knife on the teaser wasn't in the MV and about the age classification of the MV. My thoughts as of now are that mainstream media wanted to make it rated R because of some of the more edgy scenes, but that's bad for business for SM, so they toned it down so they got the PG13. But it's all speculation.

Can’t agree more, cause surprisingly i love all the songs in the album. It was just so good. It suited my taste so well im not even exaggerating
@DoubleMonoLR3 жыл бұрын
I was disappointed in it personally, it pretty much just followed the current trend at the time. I think Naughty would've been a better choice as the title track, I also thought the 'Irene'/Episode 2, and definitely 'Uncover' were better songs. It was certainly a better title track than Queendom for the recent full group comeback though, that was very weak, basically just a routine kpop song. That album seemed clearly the weakest so far, as the previous ones were very good.

My take on Monster has always been that Irene and Seulgi are two devils/demons/monsters living inside someone's brain and they fight for control over their host in their own seductive and sneaky way. The sexiness is there because both "monsters" see themselves as seducers rather than the type that would overpower someone physically. They want the host to give up control of their own free will because they have been completely taken in by the monster's charms. The song and MV for Monster is about which one will ultimately end up in control. Seulgi is in control in the opening scene but Irene eventually wins and is seen in control at the end. That's my take.

monster is such a taunting song everything about it is so strong and powerful but it reminds me of almost like a child mocking you if that makes sense, like a sort of “i know something you dont know” and i think that because of the chorus part with the little noises in the back is what gives it such a deathly curious vibe, it also plays into the story of there being a almost like an imposter within the two of them, one of them thinks they hold the power of this monster within the two (this also shows in the choreo and lyrics too) but the other one knows that its just a facade to trick the other and they are actually the ring leader of this 1 monster being so called controlled by “two”.
