Their Bohemian Rhapsody, Shape of You, Bad Romance, Despacito, Lazenca Save us, and Time in a Bottle are stunning. Their language skills on show too. The Counter Tenor (Kang Hyung-Ho) is interesting as he was a Research Chemist, who sang in a Rock Band, part time. He had NO formal vocal training, prior to the show creating Forestella. Beautiful Reaction. Thank you.

and this is Cho Mingyu's audition, performing Be My Love from the Toast of New Orleans. kzbin.info/www/bejne/imqsdmesZqlsfac The jury were simply in awe. He consistently got great reviews from the jury members throughout the show and he sort of became a national sensation not only for his voice but also because he systematically chose his partners very wisely (he literally hand-picked the members of Forestella hehe) and he also gave technique lessons to less experienced singers. There is footage from the show of him teaching Ko Woorim (who later became the the bass of Forestella) how to properly drop his jaw and how to sing in Italian :) (Woorim was still very young when he applied, he was still in university)

I had never heard this cover. It is so amazing to me to see the attention and admiration this song is getting around the world. I think Lara Fabian had a lot to do with it and Dimash saying publicly how much he loves her singing. Funny detail... they are singing the female adaptation of the lyrics (orpheline instead of orphelin, heureuse instead of heureux...) which definitely tells me they were inspired by Lara. I am happy for Serge Lama and Alice Donna who wrote the beautiful music, that their song lives through decades and across thousands of miles. What an hommage. I saw Serge Lama in Montreal in the 70’s. He did sing the last chorus a Cappella. I love the accordion in this version. Nice touch. Thank you Sir Hairless. 🤗

@hildommar9 ай бұрын
Yes, they were most definitely inspired by a Lara version…she has more than one…I believe it was a particular concert version that they chose to pay homage to and that is why they also kept the gender. Ko Woorim, the basso profundo singer, together with the tenor Cho MinGyu are both classically trained opera singers and so have a classic language requirement in their Bachelor and Masters Degrees through the prestigious Seoul National University College of Music. They don’t speak French like natives because they don’t need to, but are able to read and understand and sing proficiently. The other two had to learn the French lyrics for this song. They even translated this song into Korean and received permission to alter the lyrics to suit the Korean language..I believe Bae Doohoon contributed to the writing of the lyrics. Serge Lama himself reached out to Forestella commending them for this performance , uploaded it on all social media platforms in France with a message and told everyone to listen to it. He also mentions it in an online article in PUBLIC magazine in 2021, March 16th I believe. Forestella tends to be a group who delves into a song and are practice freaks. Consider this, the counter tenor /tenor soprano Kang Hyungho, now 36 ,has a degree in chemical engineering and 4yrs experience as a valued research chemist with no formal music education but is self-trained vocally and is really an amateur rock singer for almost half his life before Forestella was formed in 2017 . He has continued his rock act alongside Forestella activity since 2020. He is known globally for an incredible performance of both Christine and The Phantom’s parts in a version of The Phantom of the Opera he sang on Lotto Singer an MBN channel competition in 2020 where he also,performed some other memorable ballads.. He also sang a version of that as his audition piece for Phantom Singer 2 where these 4 met. He does not claim to be an opera singer or a classic singer and had no classic language training. The baritenor is a musical theatre performer who majored in acting at S. Korea’s most sought after Korean National University of Arts who has an active career in musical theatre alongside Forestella activity. Ko Woorim I think, is the only member who travelled to France in 2016, still a 2nd year Bachelor of Music student at age 21, to compete in the TOULOUSE INTERNATIONAL SINGING COMPETITION together with 2 contestants future seasons of Phantom Singer. He reached the semi-finals in his first ever overseas competition.

This was so lovely: from Forestella's delightful performance to your emotional reaction with always insightful comments! For me the accordion classy touch in this arrangement was the cherry on the cake because the sound of this beautiful instrument connects my heart directly to my cultural roots in the Northeastern part of Brazil, where my entire family comes from. Over there the accordion is an essential component of many traditional rhythms and folkloric genres because it was tightly incorporated to the music that emerged locally after the big French immigration to this region during mid-19th century. The role of this instrument is particularly crucial in the forró genre (and other related subgenres of traditional music in Brazil), which is the type of music that mostly reminds of my beloved father and grandparents❤So, it's curious that, for cultural reasons, the accordion primarily connects me to my own cultural roots (differently from the original French reference that most people around the world traditionally connects to its sound)☺

I cried every time I hear this version of the song. Love your technical breakdowns in particular. Forestella are the most diverse group covering everything from classical to k pop (Specially done for the fans after a promise made). Their originals must be watched in order as a trilogy. Save our Lives, Utopia and White Nights. My favorites Champions and Bohemian Rhapsody. To the Accordion - so the original name of the patent - it was createtd by the austrian instrument maker Cyrill Demian. It is part of the "Heurigenmusik" and "Wiener Lied" in Wien but also very common in many folcloristic music all over middle europe. But this special sound in the french music is unique, it combines melancholy with joy of life - the "savoir vivre" - it immediately reminds me of bistro and café, summer wind and dancing but also of deepest despair - I love it.
@SirHairless9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the information! Very interesting 🎶And completely agree about the cafe/summer wind - is this a result of the accordion's use in popular culture?
@dieweisealte-llumia71489 ай бұрын
I think it´s a result of the appearance of the accordion in movies related to popular culture. In Austria they are called Heimatfilm, which would be translated homeland film although I don´t know if this makes sense to you . the accordion is mostly played in those kind of movies when people sit outside drinking coffee or wine and having a good time, whether it is in France, Austria or the Balkans.

Great response to this magnificent piece of artistry! There are many, I believe, wonderful vocalists in the world. The really good one have the ability to touch your heart. However, there are but of few singers who can touch our souls. They are the truly gifted ones. In this video you highlighted three of them - Dimash, Lara and Forestella. When that moment of connection occurs, goosebumps and (especially) tears manifest spontaneously - that is if your heart is open to it. I am a new sub of yours. What drew me to you initially was the vocalist you were highlight that day - DIMASH - but what really has me coming back the most is you awesome ability to connect with the music at a very deep level. However, at the very time you make that connection, you tear up, but instead of embracing that as one of your most wonderful qualities and reveling in that ability, you pull back, try to contain it the best you can can and then apologize for yourself. Please don't do that! Be proud rather than ashamed. A man can appear incredibly masculine while showing the more vulnerable emotions. You are one of those men!

I think by now it is no secret that I actually only listen to Pentatonix reactions. Watched the first part if this and was amazed to see them using an accordion. The older generation, I would say 40 and older knows it well because we used to waltz and to step dancing on music where there was an accordion, always, and normally in a barn where we sat on bales of grass meant for cow food, flower on the floors to make the dancing so much more like gliding. Those were the days! Greetings from South Africa

I especially liked the piano comparison on this one. You did really well with the names, Bae is pronounced 'Bay'. Woorim is pronounced more with a silent W or a U instead. Oorim or Uurim. Most of the international fans pronounce it exactly the way you did so I think you're okay. 😉 I would love to hear your analysis of Cho Mingyu's solo performance of 'Balada De La Trompeta'. I listened to both again and decided Lara’s version I like best. I can’t …. lol I think Lara’s was the more emotional version. She moved me more. I guess I like them both for different reasons. Lara’s made me feel her pain more. Both are great.

I would love for you to react and analyze their songs: Legends Never Die, Bohemian Rhapsody, and their 2 part songs Save Me and Utopia. Turn on captions for Utopia, it is sung very rapidly. Make certain you watch all the way through, there is a surprise ending. I would also suggest that you check out Celtic Thunder. Their music includes many 5-part harmonies. One of my favorites is actually a Christmas Carol in Latin, "Gaudete". Cry all you want, music is meant to be felt!❤❤

This may be my favorite. Please consider one of those which I believe is called moonlight nights of silla. I say I believe because the title is translated various ways.

PLEASE, do "El Hijo de la Luna" by Forestella. They sing a Spanish song in Korean. It is so fantastic.

Great reaction. And you called all the names correct! I recommend the Inner Universe for the next review. It is very experimental and you could hear the great combinations of counter tenor and bass.

and would you believe that countertenor never got professional training? :) he did get some training after joining Forestella but while the other three had pro musical backgrounds (two opera singers and a musical actor), Kang Hyungho only did some singing in a garage rock band on weekends as a hobby. :) I think you should watch his Phantom Singer audition tape of the Phantom of the Opera, where he performs the duet of Christine and the Phantom. I specifically recommend the audition tape, not the other performances he did later, as that is his unrefined voice there before Forestella came to be. And watch the jury members :) Hyungho felt like he didn't belong in the show as all other participants had an established musical background, while he was a chemical engineer. But he was chosen, and we are so lucky he was! kzbin.info/www/bejne/imKQhZZ_Yq9opNE

So very happy with your emotional response and technical analysis as I think it’s a beautiful rendition by these 4 amazing singers and so well arranged performance. I love to cry along with this and seeing the people in the room does contribute to the impact it has on you when watching. Fabulous 😊❤

Thank you for your reaction and analysis. I enjoyed it. Forestella's songs do tend to provide goosebumps ever so often. Please listen to the song Champions ( The Seoul Festa version is a great version). It is a mash-up of the UEFA Champions' League song and the song Champions written by Sumi Jo, a South Korean soprano. The song Lazenca Save Us, is also a hood choice. (It is the theme song for a South Korean anime.) The anime was not successful but the song, which was originally sung by the rock group N.E.X.T. was very successful. Both songs are very powerful songs and they sound phenomenal. Looking forward to your next reaction.

Having seen many of your reactions, I have heard you mention a chorister’s range, I think that you would love Forestella singing Angel, I do believe that a boys choir has frequently performed this song, but of course, I could be wrong.
