Oh sorry to hear that. Really enjoyed your detailed and informative analysis. I’ve been thinking about it all day since the original reaction aired. And here I am again! Your pronunciation of all of their names is absolutely correct ..Bae =bay. 👏👏👏Thank You. Amazing that you have learned their names so early. Forestella while paying homage to the original artist, usually develop the vocal and music arrangements to suit their 4 different voices thereby making it their own interpretation. In this case, they chose to pay homage to Lara Fabian’s version, in particular ,a concert version of hers , including using the gender of words as would be sung by a female. Both of the opera trained singers Ko Woorim and Cho MinGyu…have competed overseas…Ko Woorim at 21 years, entered and reached. the semi-finals of Toulouse International Singing Competition…it was his first time competing overseas. He was in his 2nd year of Bachelor of Music Degree Classic, Voice. Cho MinGyu, his senior by 6yrs at the same Seoul National University, entered and reached the semifinals of the Montreal International Music Competition and also entered the Geneva International Music Competition, but was told he would never get lead roles because of his unusual leggiero tenor voice…this caused him to reevaluate his dream of a career in opera.

This is my first time hearing Forestella. They sing with tenderness, then they are soaring! While I didn’t get the same reaction, I still enjoyed their performance. Their harmonies are beautiful. Hi Cynthia, Welcome to Forestella!!!!❤😊 🎉 I think part of the emotion that Sir Hairless (and many of us who’ve seen the unscreened video) was feeling was also elicited by their eyes and facial expressions that played a part in how they expressed the emotion of this song. I’m sure you’ve seen the original video by now? This is also something you might already know but here goes: This was performed on a spin off series, Phantom Singer All Stars, with the original series being Phantom Singer, which launched in 2016 looking to form crossover quartets. At this point in time, there had been 3 seasons completed with season 3 winners La Poem in 2020 not even being able to debut due to the covid lockdowns. Hence this spin off which ran from January to April 2021…since then the 4th season was successfully completed in June 2023. Forestella are the winners of season 2 and so far the most successful of all the 12 winning teams. PS All Stars was just a friendly gathering of the 9 winning teams at that point …no eliminations or survival type competing….it was aired during the pandemic so no proper live audiences…only an online one with a few celebrity guests and their fellow contestants as live audience members.

Wonderful analysis! The best amongst the 12 others I watched. A few things. These guys have worked really hard to get there, no shortcuts, unbelievable work ethic! The version they are singing is that of Lara Fabian, which is sang in feminine genre (she changed the original to adapt it for her). It would have been preferable if they used the original version of Serge Lama, sang in masculine. It happens to me very rarely but I had chills with this song. Their French is almost perfect and easy to understand. However, although he has a majestuous voice, I can't understand the words when Dimash sings SOS d'un terrien en détresse. And...he doesn't give me goosebumps!

Merci pour cette merveilleuse réaction à nos seigneurs de l’harmonie. En tant que française, j’ai découvert ce groupe avec cette reprise il y a quelques années à présent.. Ils en ont fait une nouvelle chanson, saluée par Serge Lama en personne. Leur français est stupéfiant. L’intensité, l’interprétation,…. Tout est juste parfait. I think it's natural to shed tears while listening to their songs. Because their emotional expressions are very rich and sincere. They always impress with their great arrangements and dramatic harmonies. Kang Hyeong-ho, who is called a countertenor, is actually a rock singer. Not a classical singer. He has been singing in rock bands since college and is still the frontman of a band called pitta. He can write lyrics, compose, arrange, produce, etc. He can also use both chest voice and falsetto, and can change his vocal style wildly in a single song. He is a crazy genius. You can check out his amazing vocals in ‘The Phantom of the Opera.’ He sang both the male and female parts by himself.

Thanks for your reaction to Forestella! This is a famous French song, Je suis malade. (I'm sick) The original singer is Serge Lama. However, I think Forestella sang this song as an homage for Lara Fabian's version. It notes in the lyrics with terms in feminine form (orpheline, heureuse). But Serge Lama posted his praises about this stage on his official SNS. (Twitter, IG, FB). Forestella released their Korean version of this song in their 3rd album: the Forestella. 눈물 속에 홀로 (Alone in Tears) has lyrics in Korean. Even the words in the lyrics were changed a lot from the original Je suis malade, you can feel the deep emotions and vibes of the original in it if you try to listen. One of the members of Forestella (Bae DooHoon) contributed to writing some lyrics in Korean as well.
