I've heard that Tim rather jokingly performed that opening wah-wah riff while they were recording and everyone loved it so much they had him record it. Then he realized he was now cursed to have to sing it in every live performance of the song
@bethcoussou8 ай бұрын
I heard him say that, too! Lol Of course, he had no problem. If my memory serves me correctly, I believe when I saw them in concert during that time when they were performing it live, it sounded like it was sung in a slightly higher key and he still nailed it!

The young couple in the video is the folk duo, The Hound and The Fox. They have performed videos with Tim and Chance. Chance has performed A Whistling Lad with them, while Tim performed Three Kings with the duo. The Hound and The Fox are outstanding singers. If you want to see more of Tim's range, you might want to see him sing Hooked on a Feeling with The Bass Gang. Tim sings the tenor lead with some bass notes thrown in the arrangement. The Bass Gang are talented basses that perform together due to the magic of the internet. Two of the singers are American, one is from Eastern Europe, and the fourth is from Egypt. They had never met personally during this song, although they did have plans to film a video in person last year in Eastern Europe. Peter Barber, an American, is probably the best-known member of the group. He is a highly educated trained opera singer. He has his own KZbin reaction channel. He analyzes singers in terms of their singing techniques, as well as interviewing different bass singers. And, no, I am not Tim Foust. Lol

I think they'd make a seriously great barbershop quartet! Imagine a lineup of any 4 of them, but for a quartet - based on their voice types - I'd imagine (from bottom-up): • Tim • Rob or Adam • Austin or Rob • Adam or Austin Chris, I'm sure, would also fit in perfectly, but I've not been as exposed to his voice in the arrangements I've seen so far

Once I learned the keys for both songs were (nearly) identical, I understood how much sense it made to mash them together. And that Home Free was smart and aware to do it. I was dismayed to read about Ed Sheeran battling a lawsuit in court. Had my doubts he was one to just steal from others. Though in all honesty, I think I prefer Austin’s voice to his. Still, he wrote it, so credit for that, and to Home Free for an excellent mashup.

I think one of the more curious lawsuits to me is when John Fogerty was sued for one of his solo works sounding too much like a CCR song - a song that he wrote as lead singer of CCR. Tim was probably double tracked on the studio version, but of course Chris would sing bass when they performed live. They would also add more flourishes to the live performances. There's a great live version with a bit of a silly start, which shows that the guys don't take themselves too seriously kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3ykaICwfN16Z6Msi=HEQk4HfpqjkzCVOF

Eric Carmen was prevented from claiming his hit song, "All By Myself", when the estate of Rachmaninoff sued. Carmen did not protest basing his song on the second piano concerto. I believe he did get the rights to the lyrics, however. I grew up in the days of 78 rpm recordings, and we owned Rachmaninoff's album "Variations on a Theme By Paganini", played by Rachmaninoff himself. I've always felt a bond for that old composer, and later for Carmen's great hit. Marvin Gaye's lawsuit got my attention. But this subject should be Home Free and their great a cappella translation of the mashup. They mash so well! Tim's range IS incredible! Thanks for explaining the mechanics of arranging.
