*Sigh* Whenever I watch international reactors react to just right they always mention that *"taking off the glasses defeats the message of the song"* but none of them gets that *the glasses are just frames and don't really have lenses on them*. We asians use glasses without lenses because the frames makes our eyes look a little bigger because it fill up the empty spaces on our faces. Soooo basically when she takes off her glasses she's saying she now understands that her facial features are *just right* and she doesn't have to conform with what society thinks is pretty. Soooo on the contrary the taking off the glasses part actually goes along with the message of the song.

It's really not international reactors' fault for not knowing other cultures. It is much more of a common concept that taking off glasses=beautiful makeover. Even as an Asian myself, I wasn't aware until I saw other comments explaining because I live in the USA and "glasses being taken off" is used a lot for beautiful makeover in entertainment mediums.

I completely get what youre saying but it might be good to add that it isnt necessarily 'more common', just the western expectation. Those in a lot of other countries wouldnt see it that way, its kind of the same where im from though there isnt really any given meaning to it. This is random, but I noticed in most of their reactions they always expect something to have a certain formula. Like the drop wasn’t big enough or something? Well that's why they bring it up. At some point songs have followed a specific formula. Which is why there is a verse then chorus then a new verse and chorus. So them bringing up the expected drop but it not being super strong shows that there was a formula to follow but not always executed. It's not a bad thing. I think it helps define the differences of songs.

Note on the glasses: In Korea, if they feel ugly or if they aren't wearing makeup, they wear glasses to look cute/hide their no make up face. so taking off glasses to accept who you are is actually is a good thing. like, you don't need to hide behind those glasses kind of message.

I see where they're coming from though, even though GOT7 is one of my top 3 favorite groups of all time, doesn't mean any of the negative opinions aren't of any value. It's true that their titles haven't been the most melodically diverse, but the reactors also didn't see a lot of other aspects that fans would see (choreo, behind the scenes, live performances, etc), so their opinions are strictly based off of whatever they see in these music videos. Totally agree unfortunately. I love them so much for who they are and I jam out to their albums asf but I have to admit that their music isn't technically (as they analyze it) amazing. But I do feel like it's only a matter of time before they get/write a really good song and make it big in Korea. I'm actually a new fan & I got into Got7 first not for their music--their promotional tracks never really did it for me at first, until I saw If You Do and Fly (Fly is my favorite from them). And it's honestly so refreshing to see this kind of criticism towards their music, bcuz I've always been frustrated with how their promo tracks have been produced, either kinda one-dimensional or too many attempts at being varied (i.e. Just Right, Hard Carry, & Never Ever), which I think up until this point muddles the genre or style that Got7 is really aiming for. Their albums have better tracks IMHO, especially those written & composed by the boys themselves (i.e. My Home, Home Run, No Jam, Paradise, etc). Nonetheless, I think what made me appreciate abt this video is how they delved into the boys' vocals and rapping. Honestly, Got7 gets so much flak for being a "so-so" group, but I think it's only because their singing and harmonization tend to be overlooked. I also think Got7's rappers are strong and has good flow; their rap parts aren't awkward at all. Lastly, I really appreciated it when they commented that the songs are an "easy listen" which can be quite a positive thing these days, especially given K-Pop's aggressiveness towards sound/beat experimentation.

In Korea, people obsess over having a small face because they think it's more beautiful, so people always wear wide-rimmed fake glasses to make their faces look smaller (if you look carefully, you'll see that her glasses don't have any lenses, meaning they were for fashion and not for vision purposes). hugo might've had the misunderstanding, but what i like about just right (although i don't really care for the tune of the song) is that the girl taking off her glasses kind of signifies her stopping being embarrassed by hiding her face and hiding behind glasses. there are cultural differences that separate her action from the western trope of "when the girl removes her glasses she becomes pretty™". this is also evident in an episode of hello counselor, where i think jimin and jin from bts guest starred. there was a very shy and anxious girl who always hid behind glasses and/or a mask (even though the glasses were not prescription) because she felt that she had to hide, and she didn't feel confident in her face or her self esteem. so, that is what got7 portrayed in the video when the girl took off her glasses because they didn't want her to hide and be sad, but let go and live happily. hope this made sense :)

I kinda feel like they didn't give enough weight to the meaning of If You Do but it's just as important as the message for Just Right - it's talking about an abusive relationship where the boyfriend is the victim and the girlfriend is the abuser, which is something that happens way more often than gets talked about and very often isn't taken seriously like it should be

I love y'all's reaction. I love Kpop and listen to it frequently but after I started watching y'all's videos I started to listen to more of the instrumental aspects of the music. I heard little things I didn't hear when I just listened to the whole song. I've stared to pick out some of the musicality in the songs. I'm a Highschool Trumpet player and I really enjoy music and I'm thinking about choosing music as a career path.
