Reactions to Rookie were really interesting!!! Whether you find it annoying or not it's still so hype and fun! I remember when Red Velvet were on Jonghyun's Blue Night radio they were talking about how nervous they were for the public's reaction to Rookie because it's so repetitive and different... Jonghyun said something along the lines of 'yeah it's repetitive but Rookie is still a song gives you a lot of energy compared to Ring Ding Dong which drains all your energy' bahahahaha

I think this reaction is very interesting because it shows the difference between the musicians and the vocalists. The musicians really like rookie because the music is interesting for them, but the vocalist hate it because the vocals are weird and annoying for them.

at first i really dislike this song when it just came out... but after try to listen to them more... its like a poison. Most red velvet songs has the same shit effect, like dumb dumb and peekaboo. Not surprised they liked Rookie cause the instrumentals are lit! The vocals or so called speech-singing is annoying though and it def gives a bad/repetitive overall feel (to many). But it’s also fun to see two contrasting songs like RR and Rookie and what they think of them - because where the other lacks in composing the other one doesn’t and vice verse. Agh I can just talk abt Red Velvet songs for so long in general - these girls NEVER tread the same water and that’s what makes them a gem in kpop.

glossy I believe he meant to say that they're two of some best vocalists in this generation, he didn't say they're the best two of them all. I mean Wendy IS the best female vocalist among new generation girlgroup, no new generation girl group vocalist beats her in terms of vocal technique (except if you count fx as new gen gg then Luna is the best). keep in mind that Wendy is the only well rounded vocalist among new gen gg with all of her register fairly developed,she's at least a proficient vocalist. and that's including all of mamamoo's member since each of the three vocalist of mamamoo is just above average. while seulgi is an average vocalist but her sense of pitch is fairly good.
