No, in SHINee ‘shine’ is ‘light’ and the ‘ee’ is ‘the receiver of light’. SHINee is literally “the ones who receive light”. 😊💎

King Jonghyun showing his impeccable artistry. 💓💓💓💓 Also, I'm glad that James (please correct me if I'm wrong) mentioned that Jjong's voice is expressive - there are a lot of singers who have the proper technique and all, but cannot fully convey what they wanted to on a song. IMO, Jjong can do both, and his voice could really take you into different places, moods, vibes, etc. which is why he is one of my favorite K-Pop singers.

This song literally feels like neon flashing through, overwhelming, many things happening but definitely shining. What am I saying lol but you know what I mean. i love love love your reactions to jonghyun because they all pick up these little subtleties and twists and if you know jjong you know that those are all intentional and that he spent a lot of time thinking how to best represent the emotions he wants to show in his music. so seeing people actually noticing all the small things that go into these songs to make them so layered and genuine, and most importantly appreciating them makes me so happy and proud of jjong 💜 (also that ending was super wholesome, can i pls text that guy too next time i'm sad lol)

I didn’t notice this at first but “neon” is the Korean word for “you.” So not only is it like neon, the element that makes neon signs light up, it also means “you.” So he’s saying “you shine” in one word.

When BASE came out, this was my favorite song second to Deja-Boo, I love love loved it, so I'm so glad to see that your channel reacted to it, and that the reactions were mostly positive haha, I think both Deja-Boo and Neon perfectly encompass the playful side of Jonghyun, especially as someone who's been a fan of him and SHINee since 2009. I still remember his 2010 Lucifer-era interviews where he said he wanted to compose songs along with writing lyrics (since he had written Juliette + other songs for their Lucifer album,) and then to hear his dream come true 5 years later when BASE was released... thanks for reminding me just how talented and amazing he was.

hearing him praised and appreciated especially with neon overwhelmed me so much i dont think ive cried this hard for a while because when Base came out neon was not a very liked song by the general public even though its one of the most unique and incredibly crafted songs and i think it delivers the intended message perfectly and like yiu guys said it really does feel like all the breaks are beams of light that just. pull you out. i love this song so much and i adore him to bits.

I get what Kevin said about it being a little bit too much, like Jonghyun really wanted to put into the song his amazing vocals and equally amazing instrumentation and it's a lot, but at the same time... isn't it what neon is? For me neon is exactly like that, shining brightly and blinking and sparkling and sometimes annoying because of it, but at the same time creating magical atmosphere of color and light. That's the song for me musically: too much and too bright and sooo amazing because of it. Also, I'm so glad this time around Reactors did focus in big part of reaction on his voice. That's what's missing from many of reactions here. Focusing on instrumentals and funky rhythms and harmonies is nice and I love listening to them talk about it but man, I wish they'd appreciate (or maybe that's the wrong word, focus would be better) the voices of the artists they react to more.
