If only you could insert Step as well, it'll be great.The group member got problems with the company, they chose to disband because of it. Some of the member wants to do solo but the company didn't really liked the idea. Thinking back about it, they disband when jiyoung was 20, she's still young.

The Girl with the short light brown hair in the pixie-ish style is Nicole Jung and she is originally from California. She still does perform from time to time ... has a HUGE fanbase in Japan. Good singer - fantastic dancer. Kara began in 2007 with 4 members (3 which are here) and went thru several sets of changes before they really started to fall apart at the end of 2013. Their label was one of the most notorious for abusing their employees. They put the girls on just about every TV show possible, had them doing all kinds of promotional events, put camera's on them pretty much 24/7 in their dorm, and put them onto weird diets to try to make them as skinny as possible. Between the poor diet and over-work, there were injuries that happened and they weren't allowed to refuse to perform or show any difficulty on stage. One of them (it was either Nicole or Jiyoung - straight black hair ) had a family emergency just before a performance and the management didn't even tell her about it until after the event was over as they didn't want her to refuse to perform if she went to be with family. Nicole once basically had a nervous breakdown in public on TV during a talk show due to stress and ill health. In 2013, when their 7 year contract was up, Jiyoung and Nicole decided not to renew their contracts and left the group ... JIyoung went to London to study acting and language development and Nicole returned to the US to study dance. They were replaced by a young woman named Youngji who won her spot thru a replacement contest, but, Kara never returned to the sort of popularity they had with the 5 core members and in 2016 the remaining 3 of the 5 did not renew their contracts. Kara was my first favorite group when I stumbled onto KPOP in 2011.

MOSTLY (not always) idol groups have 7 years contract. Then you can continue (or not) for about 3 years (or depends on agreement between the members and agency). The example is SNSD. After 7 years, they have 3 years and then after that some of them separate themselves to different agencies (although OT8 still in the same group, SNSD). That's what I know. CMIIW

Only old generations got 7 years contract. Now the standard is between 4 and 5 years after excessively disadvantageous contracts for the artists have been exposed (*cough* HANGENG *cough*). But it is true that bands are bound to disband at the end of their contract if they are not popular enough or if individuals want to carry out solo activities.

Bonus on old groups, ones from bigger labels that were expected to do well got longer than 7 years. I believe BoA had 10 (could be pulling that out of nowhere sry) and tvxq has 13 not including military enlistment bringing it to 15... So tvxq is actually STILL working on their original contract from 2004
