For the 77th video of this series, classical music majors react to Seventeen’s ‘Highlight’ MV vs ‘Check in’ MV!

Highlight comments: Did you tell them that was Hoshi's first ever try at composing? I think that could have changed a little bit of their opinions because when I heard it, it was actually great and way better than expected. Although as performance unit do focus more on the performance, I get that their music will be more- how do i say this, hyped and more in? like more dance-y and not musically very complete, or whole and clean? I hope you understood shdjdbs Check In: it was like 98% shot in Hong Kong and some shots where they say check in *name of city* and they show something, it's of that city and it's basically where it's shot. This is random, but I love how you guys say you don't like a song so pleasantly, unlike just without reason like other kpop reactors who just blatantly say they don't like it, but don't expound on why and what was not likeable. It feels like you guys give content and information that helps us learn too, and gives us more insight on music, and it's production, and most especially the beauty of it. Lol I agree I think highlight was made with the intention of their song coordinating with their dancing more. (same with who) And so when you put the two together dance and sing its more pleasing to eyes and ears. And this was Hoshi's first time composing so he did pretty well in Seventeen's expectations. I'm actually surprised that most of you like 'check in' more cuz i didn't like it the first time i heard it unlike 'Highlight' which I instantly loved but 'check in' grew on me after a while. I guess it really is a matter of preference which is fine :)

Highlight is soo repetitive, for me without MV it is just boring and mediocre, but it was Dance Unit's so o you can't expect anything, they did nice job with dancing and MV (It is funny because I really don't like rap and other 'spoken word' genres and usually would choose pop/dance song but it was worse than the other one).

Something about Naoki (the dude in the blue jacket?) scares me haha! I quite like Yunyi and always look forward to her reactions. Tbh, drops are either a hit or miss for me cuz sometimes I find they have either too much going on or use bad sounding synths (bad into MY ears, personally) I dont like the "drops" in BTS Fire, BTS Not Today, GOT7 Hard Carry, The ending of the chorus in Kokobop by EXO, NCT Firetruck etc. I do like drops in SVT Highlight, EXO The Eve, Luna Free Somebody (such a great song by an exceptional singer and dancer i love luna), Blue Moon by Changmo etc. But yeah at this point, i too, am finding drops to be overused

maybe bc ive been only a fan of kpop esp bts for a little over a year but i love bts' fire and it got me so hyped during their concert but yeah i do agree i kinda didnt like hard carry at first listen but it grew on me and i also didnt like kokobop at first esp the chorus but i definitely liked the eve by exo better than kokobop also in terms of svt i like check in better than highlight bc for me i think it sounds cooler and not repetitive unlike highlight

I feel like in Highlight, they focus more on the dance than the song because they ARE the performance unit and dance is more their speciality as opposed to the Hip Hop unit, so I really did want to see them focus on the choreography too not just the song in Highlight, in my opinion.

Sorry, but the song name is not Abuse, it's Habit. Abuse is kind of uncomfortable and not exactly the most accurate translation. Since the korean title is literally translated as Word Habit or something like that.

Seventeen is good and I also like them cause they're talented ;) since I only stan talent, I'd like to recommend you to react to *KNK*'s musics ^3^ I'm happy you've put Knock (their debut song) to the list of videos to be reacted to but could you please add KNK MVs (*Back Again, U, Sun.Moon.Star, and Rain*) to the list?
