You're not tricked. The piano run in the chorus was a backing track pre-recorded by virtuoso lead guitarist and pianist Miyako (lead guitar stage left) because she can't be at 2 places at the same time since it's a LIVE performance. Moreover, that backing track was instrumental to the overall experience of the whole song. Miyako also composed & arranged this song.

That pianist is also one of the guitarists so, when playing guitar, they were using a piano backing track. Then she re-joined the piano at the end.

Miyako prerecorded the piano track that was used as a backing track, then took over and played it for the outro. It is a passage from Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2.

Crossed wires I think, on two different Lovebites stories. Check Under the Red Sky, my preference from the two contributions to a 4 song release that were conceived as a competition between composers to use Rach 2 as a starting point Gist of the story (see Themes): en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Against_Damnation Under The Red Sky, live 2018, with contrasting sections to match lyrics which jerk from desperation to hope, and with an Arabic-scaled section using a theme from their first album kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2Ocaougd7Oceck

@@PJAlphaMusic Thank you for reacting this song. Mr.hiawatha.g is completely misunderstanding. Piano outro is guitarist miyako's original. On the other hand, you can easily hear the influence of Chopin's etude op.10-1 in piano backing track, and op10-12 in her guitar solo. Second concerto is used in their song "Above The Back Sea". And Rach symphony 2 is used in "Under The Red Sky". Miyako plays concerto no.2 and Moments Musicaux op.16-4 as intro for other songs like this performance. And she performed Chopin Ballade no.1 in their latest live show.

The Chopin piece Miyako (guitar/keyboards) is playing in the intro is "Etude OP10, No. 12" known as the "Revolutionary Etude." In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was called the "November Revolution" but ended in failure due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agent presented "Etude OP10, No. 12" in Paris. Because of the agent's exaggerated publicity, people called this piece "Revolutionary Etude. Miyako composed "Swan Song" based on this "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony. Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics based on the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude" and inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake. "SwanSong" is a requiem dedicated to the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only LOVEBITES could complete.

You are a kind of right said "It's a Japanese sound" at the ending. It is not exactly Japanese but the motif is Symphony the New World which resembles native American culture which sometimes has similarity to Japanese. I'm a Japanese man BTW. They seem to be mainly influenced by Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Metallica, then sometimes sound like somewhere between power and thrash metal. The nobody piano is just a backing track for an extra layer and every band does that nowadays. I'm hundred percent sure that Miyako the dark haired guitarist made that track anyway. Backing track is totally alright as an effect just like any other effects they use. We only had just tow kinds of effects on guitar which is tremolo and reverb in 60s and they utilize tons of effects nowadays but we old guys never blame it. It's a fair engineering for better sound. Backing tracks are alright unless they use it to cover up musicians poor skill, playing the part of the musicians.

@@PJAlphaMusic When Miyako (brunette) plays the guitar, the piano/keyboard parts (which are heard in the songs) are backing tracks that she pre-records for concerts. In order not to invite another musician to the to the band. If only one guitar is needed to perform a song, then Miyako herself plays the piano / keyboards . For albums, Miyako records her guitar part and piano or keyboard parts, if they are in the songs.

Many Japanese bands use backing track. They do not attempt to hide it, Milli Vanalli style. I am always amazed at the skill of the stage engineers to sync all five of them and they all keep in time with the backing track. The risk of using backing is there is no hiding place if you loose your bar count. It just goes to demonstrate how so many Japanese bands are completely next level with their live performances. Even the BabyMetal girls, were able to keep time with their metal band musicians and the backing track.

In this song Miyako can not play guitar and piano at the same time, so they had to use a previously recorded track for the times when she was playing guitar. The reason the track sounded different from the live playing is because it was recorded on a different piano (and if I remember correctly in an interview she said the piano on stage was not a real grand piano but an electric one). Miyako has her debut solo EP 'Etude Op.23', out June 21, 2023 and so far we have one video Miyako (from LOVEBITES) / Eagle Fly Free (HELLOWEEN) - PIANO COVER [OFFICIAL VIDEO] kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5mWc3-IqJWLqJY

Not electric but digital piano. Miyako didn't liked it (she's used to her "real" piano in her studio) but in the context of a rock band playing live, amplifying a real grand piano would be extremely difficult, so the digital piano (disguise as a grand piano) was an obvious choice for convenience.

To repeat what a few have said, yes it’s tracks for piano or guitar, whatever she’s not actively playing, as well as a choir doing the main melody towards the end. Note that playing to a track, while only arguably more difficult, is more demanding; there’s no regroup & recovery as a band if you get out of rhythmic alignment with the programmed show! Many people have reacted to this, but I only recall one ever noticing that the beginning of the guitar solo is directly lifted from the Etude. No shame at all, but I admit I was holding my breath to see if you’d recognize that, being one of only a few who knew the piece. And absolutely Sonata Arctica. They are probably one half powermetal (Helloween, Iron Maiden too), with thrash (slayer ,Testament ,Megadeth, 1985 Metallica, mostly thanks to orig bass player shown here, Miho), some underpinning classic metal (Judas priest, Motley Crue), and hints of prog (from studio sixth man keyboardist songwriter Mao) as well as proggishness coming from blending in Miyako(pianist)’s classical influences Fun, thanks

Power metal makes up the majority of their catalogue (roughly two-thirds, or so). Thrash makes up maybe 10% of their repertoire. Aside from Power Metal, the next largest chunk is NWOBHM-inspired classic heavy metal. There are also several symphonic/neoclassical metal, progressive metal, and even a couple just hard rock songs. Miyako did record the piano backing track that you can hear during the song while she's on guitar. While she CAN play both at the same time (see "Burden of Time" video), she obviously can't play both AT THAT LEVEL at the same time, lol!

As the world and it's dog has probably told you by now the piano during the song was a backing track laid down by Miyako . She's a true virtuoso but ( sadly ) only has one pair of hands 😂😉 . Having said that there is one track where she plays guitar and keys simultaneously ( you can do that if you're a genius ) . Lovebites don't stick to one style of Metal and as you listen to them a bit more ( hopefully ) you'll come to understand their versatility ( and superb musicianship ) Enjoy !

although she is able to play piano and guitar at the same time (burden of time live), there are no two miyakos or one with eight arms, so piano comes from backtrack, when she is playing guitar. a bit dissapointing, this reaction. I expected a bit more analysis from a musician/pianist.

Backing tracks are very common these days in metal music due to the richness of sound they are achieving. May I suggest another band that I think you would really love, Epica? They are from the Netherlands and play symphonic metal. For their 10th anniversary, they performed a concert using a live orchestra and choir. The song Unleashed from the Retrospect Concert is a shining example of what can be done in metal music.
