On another video from this same TV episode (titled: Roy Clark can play any genre), Roy plays and sings his biggest hit, plays a killer country Banjo, then plays both classical and country violin. The episode ended with this guitar solo. He was just incredibly talented.

That blazing blur of a wrist. And so clean. Roy is a legend. Banjo was Roy's favorite. I grew up in the 70s with Roy on Hee-Haw. His talent was much bigger than he ever put on. He was so gracious of his talent. He never flaunted it. But you could always hear it in his playing.

You made a good point that very few people make. That is how clean his performance is. No muffled sounds, no missed notes. Every single note is clear and clean. Many people can play real fast, but very few can do it cleanly and clearly as he does. And the strength, precision, endurance, and control it takes to move the wrist that fast and for as long has he does is incredible.

Roy was my favorite on Hee-Haw, but the facial hair always gave me pause, lol. I never got in to Buck Owens' music or singing too much, but ironically, I am a huge Dwight Yokum fan (whom I consider a Buck prodigy). Peace, Love!!

Roy Clark was a master of string instruments, fiddle, banjo, guitar and mandolin for sure. Member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Check out him and Buck Trent doing Dueling Banjos.

He was the David Lindley of country music. If it had strings he could crush it.

He could play anything with strings. Such a natural talent. Excellent Fiddler also. Thanks for what your doing.

At 4:50, he is actually playing two tracks simultaneously, like they do with a loop machine. It's much more obvious in the electric guitar version, where he plays them separately first. Roy was the G.O.A.T.! Absolute magic!

So wrong. The electric guitar is a different instrument, played differently. R.C. was a virtuoso, the likes of which you will never comprehend.

As one of the people who suggested it, it is really good to see you react to this one...the other version of Roy Clark is fine, but this one is better. I will look forward to any other versions of this one you react to.💯

There is a legend about Eddie Van Halen being asked what it's like to be the best guitarist in the world, and his response was that the interviewer would have to ask Roy Clark. There's also a version of this legend where it was Jimi Hendrix who was the one that had been asked that question. From what I've been able to determine, it appears that both were asked that question - and both gave the same answer.

There is a live version on KZbin that he did many years later that is even better playing a twelve string guitar and its a longer more complete version of the song. At about seventy years of age and even better than this one in my opinion.

@@PJAlphaMusic Just watched this and while this was good there are two versions that are better in my opinion. First is his 12 string version on his Ovation guitar. Then there is his electric version on I think a Guild/ Gibson look a like. I don't know I'm left-handed with both hands. Roy once said, 'If it has strings and a neck I can play it'. He did a concert tour in Russia and one night someone handed him a Balalaika, he said, 'give me a moment'. You could see him walking around running through chord patterns and listening. Then a couple minutes he walked up to the mic and said here we go and launched into a Blue Grass song that had the crowd going crazy. Unfortunately no one recorded it and it wasn't made a regular feature in the show. Anyway, for your edification here's those two versions of 'Malaguena'. ENJOY!!!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqmngoR6e5udZrs Roy Clark 'Malaguena' the electric guitar version. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hquVmYt_bLOsb6s Roy Clark 'Malaguena' the 12 string guitar version.

Malaguena translates from Spanish as "Malaga (Spain) woman'. Since you liked this, here are 3 more, with #1 being him on the fiddle, #3 with Glen Campbell. He also played the mandolin, and he also played the banjo--a virtuoso on anything with strings.
