This performance was stunning. Every Vevo performance she does is absolutely special--Potion for Love, Exhale Inhale and Heathens are also outstanding performances and hope you can get to those ones some time in the near future. She is authentically herself and her music always reflects that. She is truly a gifted like no other I have ever seen. And great to see you back to Aurora!!

Those 3 VEVO ones are great. I also _really_ love the performance of The Woman I Am she did for that same session. Partly because TWIA is easily in my top 10 favorite Aurora songs...it's effervescent springtime bliss. Yet it's criminally underrated and overlooked. If you look at a list of ALL of Aurora's songs based on number of times streamed, Runaway is obviously at #1. But you know what song is dead last? And is in fact the ONLY original Aurora song with less than 1 million streams? The Woman I Am. Seriously. Of all her released songs, it's THE least streamed song. I don't get it... And the acoustic version, which is dream pop heaven...is the _second to last_ streamed song of hers. Like...what!?

Glad to see Aurora back on your channel, and contrats on the upcoming new addition to your family! 👍🤟 In the HAIK documentary, she said that she was caught in a bubble, where she was only seeing the bad in the world, and she wrote this song to get it out of her system. It's an important song to her. Thanks, I really enjoyed your analysis and commentary!

This one is so much more touching! I guess it is because she is in a set and fully immersed in the song. It always breaks me because it reminds me of my childhood! It is a song about losing innocence and longing to have it back, that fresh feeling, that way as children we see everything with purity, then to realize we were missing all the bad things that only grown up people notice. When we start to see all of that, there comes the longing! "Why can't I see everything as pure and beautiful as I used to?", or "why can't that be reality?". Life is rough tho', will prove you wrong a thousand times when you see something and think it is pure.

One of my favorite things about this version specifically is that she chooses not to resolve that final phrase. The Nidarosdomen version of this is, in all other aspects, my favorite. But the choice to not resolve it here brings an extra emotional weight to the lyrics there…please don’t leave me here…and she leaves us there. Emotionally we long for that resolve and the fact that she doesn’t give it to us…I don’t know…it’s haunting and kind of devastating in a really beautiful way. Fantastic reaction. You do such a wonderful job really breaking everything down.

She was only 19 here in March 2016 so still a teenager (3 months to 20), the other performance in Nidarosdomen was later in Nov 2017 at age 21. Btw you can use "k" to pause the video, it always works as long as the browser with youtube is the active window, while space only works in certain circumstances when the play button is "active" just right (not always).

For the vocalization part of the song, what it reminds me of is like a child singing along to a song without knowing/understanding the words. But in perfect pitch and timing.

Her song "Little Boy In The Grass" is about one of those events that KZbin doesn't let us mention anymore. Where she lost a close friend. In one interview with a magazine she said they had plans to marry later. But they were very young at the time.

Josh, I had to come back and post a search for a more recent performance of this song in early 2019. She must have heard/seen/listened to some news event that affected her. Although this is an audience recording, it is very close to stage and catches Aurora's deep reactions while singing ... including rare tears from this brave and compassionate artist. Please search: Aurora - Through The Eyes Of A Child (Live in Rome 12.01.2019 Auditorium Parco Della Musica )

Thank you for your very good reaction/analysis of Aurora's song 'Through the Eyes of a Child' performance at the VEVO studios in April of 2016. This performance was before the one at the Nidarosdomen cathedral in November of 2017. I too love the later performance more ... although they both are absolutely gorgeous!! A little info for you: the female vocalist/bass synth player and the male vocalist/guitarist had changed by the time of the Nidarosdomen concert. Also, in the later performance Silja is not seen on camera during her entry on the third verse for the beautiful high harmony part. As to the origin of the song - you hit on the ethos of it to some extent. Aurora was distraught by news that the she either read or heard at the time her first album (her first release was an EP) was about to be released. She wrote this song and insisted that it be included. Please ... for your insight into this wonderful artist ... watch and listen to this little video (about 4 minutes long) that a fan pieced together. Be certain to read all of the text in the Description section. The amazing work was done by Fabrice: My "explanation" (read description below) about AURORA's Through the eyes of a child

If you want to see a different side of Aurora, try the official video for "A Temporary High" It's not what it sounds like, about a temporary relationship. She has a lot of different sounds. But the sound she plays with is still aurora.

That part when she only sings with no lyrics is the major difference between the two versions, in N she is a little happy and it kind of shades what that part is about, is not happiness and being a child, that part is pure longing, that is what always gets me, the longing, the sadness knowing that you lost something forever!

Hi, new subscriber. I've really scoured the available live recordings of Aurora perfomances. Two really stand out, both are of her song "Queendom". Loustic Session or Indie88 Hidden Studio. They're both stripped down versions of one of her upbeat pop songs. The vocals are amazing.

Thank you very much! You might want to listen to "Aurora - Why did you have to go - Fan made Video" by uploader Fabrice. It is an unreleased song, she sang at the funeral of a friend. As I read, it got uploaded by the mother of the deceased friend and then spread around. Others will have better info about it than what I read.

That is correct. A school friend was killed in a car crash at 18yo. Her mother asked Aurora to sing. After the funeral the asked if she could record it for them, and she did. The mother uploaded a video with the song, and it spread. It is said that the song helped a lot of people so they just let it spread. The video is still on the mothers facebook profile.

Yeah she's definitely had some traumatic things happen. But also in contract a really good childhood. Not that it defines her. But her articulation of such events is likely why her audience ranges from teens to old war vets.

To be fair the lyric's are not to hard to understand , in fact this is probably the easiest song of hers to understand
@Geralt26
@Geralt26 11 ай бұрын
I would not say that easiest. Of course I agree it is easy to interpret comparing to "average Aurora lyrics". But songs like The Seed, Awakening, Exist for Love, Warrior, Queendom, Forgoten Love, I went too far and more in my opinion are comparable and some of them even easier :).
