Always loved his "Virtuoso!" LP back in the day, great fluid technique in the Strauss paraphrases

Yes, but Wild's album was released around the same time, and is (I think) far superior. Rosen says 'Look how much better I play than you do'. Wild said, "What fun. Let's party." My favorite Rosen album is the late Bach. Very cerebral.

I saw Rosen twice play in London within the last 5 years of his life. By that time his technique had deteriorated due to his playing being neglected in favour of his academic occupation. However the musicianship in his playing is unquestionable and unforgettable. He had along with many of the older generation of players ,something that is lacking in today's pianists interpretations.

Wonderful playing! Clear, straightforward yet expressive and atmospheric - played that way, Ravel's music works best.

You are still on this channel? Maybe you should focus on the music, ah, except there is none in this particular video.

After listening to them I threw away all my Rosen LPs with exception of the Debussy Etudes which I don’t mind. A gifted writer though.

You threw away his LPs?? That's like burning books!! You should have given them to people who do appreciate the 19th century piano tradition of Chopin, Liszt, and Moriz Rosenthal. Maybe you should never have had those LPs in the first place.

@@j.vonhogen9650 so you need to be told who is good or not based on their resume? So, he studied with a short man who hated the Liszt Sonata, big deal. The playing is amateurish.

@@sergeipetrof9532 - That doesn't even merit a response. You are obviously just a troll who once may have had the ambition to become a famous pianist, but lacked the necessary talent to make his dream come true. Now all you have left is resentment, anger, frustration and tears, so you went online and started attacking your former heroes. Not a healthy state of mind, I must say. I feel sorry for you.
