Does The Springfield Hellcat Live Up To The Hype?

I live in CA and this pistol just made the roster. I picked mine up a few weeks ago. I love it. It’s accurate, so far with about 300 rounds through it, no failures to feed or extract. Very comfortable to carry in the 4 o’clock position using the alien gear photon. Right now I am just using the iron sites. I can’t make up my mind if I want the red dot or not, considering how well it shoots with just the iron sites. I must say I am very happy with this gun. A great EDC.

I am so torn between the hellcat and the p365 😭 Edit: I decided on the Springfield hellcat because of round count, red dot ready slide and flat face trigger. I will still use my modified Sig P226 as my go to SHTF pistol.

I own them both and the 365xl. If u wanna a good shooting gun with 12 rounds flush? I highly recommend the 365xl.

@@centermass4962 yeah but I am then losing a round and I would have to get the slide cut for a reflex site. On the other hand I am more partial to Sig's reliability.

@@_Epictetus_ the xl is cut for red dot. And they have 15 rd mags for them. Even with 12 round mag if u carry chambered you would have 13

Is it possible to put a threaded barrel and micro compensator on the Hellcat OSP? I just bought the OSP and then recently came across the RDP. I really love the RDP features but don’t feel like spending close to $1000 for one.

I picked up the Hellcat OSP (w/out the optic) and have put somewhere between 600 and 700 rounds through it; both FMJ and HST JHPs. Has run flawless. Another plus for me is when I pull it up, the front sight is pretty aligned with the rear sight. So, like others have said, it's a matter of preference between the 365 and Hellcat. Personally, I have stayed away from the 365 because of the striker drag issue. Initial firing pins were breaking because of this, then Sig did something, but there's still striker drag. Some "opinions" out there say that all micro compact pistols have this. Wrong. I've looked at countless ejected brass from my Hellcat and absolutely no striker drag.

Nice but over priced! I Have owned all the Taurus PT111, PT111 2 and have a G2C , for me they have all been tack drivers up to 50 yards and run all ammo with no issues . In February I switched out the Lackline LLC stainless steel guide rod with 18 lbs spring, stainless steel firing pin/spring assembly and switched to fiber optic sights know it is know my total CCW/EDC. Thanks Clint again for the CZ BREN 2 MS default win in January it is my new truck gun! Be Safe and keep "Keeping America Great".

I've bought 2 of these hellcats. I gave one to my nephews wife for xmas. The thing he really missed out on was showing the front sight? It is PHENOMINAL! OUTSTANDING in daylight? I bought a similer sight for my 1911.IT just fucking ROCKS? plus tritium for nighttime. The sight just GLOWS? You can't possibly miss anything that the sight is on target with? You don't need any cumbersome BS red dot optics.

Yes bro, I just got the hellcat but the only problem is .. I’m a big guy 6’3, my hands are huge.. when I’m shooting it, my mag starts coming out and or pinches my hand..

I was skeptical on it. Went into local GS and held one, and I was impressed. I still slightly lean to the 365 and the 365 XL but it’s close between the hellcat and 365 series. I’m sig biased so that prob why u prefer it at the end of the day. But bravo Springfield!

Really liking my Hellcat. It has not malfunctioned in any way. I had a 365 and it was also nice, but the grip angle did not work for me. The HC mags and sights are nicer (to me) as well.

Too small and not worth having to learn a new platform as far as grip. My hands are just too damn big. Pretty dang impressive though that it is only4 or 5 rounds less then my fullsize conceal carry firearm. Before I shoot myself in the foot "pun intended" how does it compare to the m&p shield, size wise? Imo, the shield is better option. With one in the chamber your only talking 3 less rounds yet slimmer and easier/comfortable to conceal. I have no doubt that the hellcat conceals just as well. Anything that small is going to conceal no problem, no matter what your body shape is & size is. Great review! Appreciate your time and input.

John Gibbs same here. I have and XD 40 and a 9mm both sub compact. Carry both, love them both. Thousands of rounds through both, no issues. Just bought a Hellcat OSP yesterday and I'm sure I'll love it as well.

I shot a Hellcat, P365, and P365SAS. The Hellcat was definitely the worst of the 3 for me. I do have large hands, so that is probably a factor. The P365SAS was the winner for me. It is a backup for me, as I have a Walther, HK and CZ as primary carry options.

@@nmagain24 Springfield "hired a consultant" that put them on the wrong side of the fight for 2A rights. They put themselves first over the people and fellow gun industry people. Most of their guns are made in Croatia. They're not the same Springfield from Garand and ww2 fame. Benchmade got busted giving a bunch of money to anti-2A politicians after a PR disaster where they cut up some confiscated guns for a local PD. Neither company gets my support. Springfield at least has been apologizing ever since...maybe I'll forgive them one day. Benchmade? Never.

If im not mistaken i believe the XD9 was originally a croatian pistol like x2000 or something like that. If thats the case then i could see why from a "free market" standpoint theyd off their productions to a cheaper place they acquired (gonna have to do some research now). No way I'll ever buy another Springfield . I had a Hellcat briefly. The trigger saftey would catch on the frame when it wasn't supposed to. In a defensive situation this is very bad. Springfield just ignored me and my emails and the problem. It's ashame when a company ignores people's saftey and lives because of Greed. No way I'd trust Springfield.
