This came with Xbox Live for me, the multiplayer was the real draw here. Xbox Live was so small at launch that developers could have cool in-game multiplayer events, I played against the developers in capture the flag and won a shirt sweet shirt.

when my mother bought a pc for my sister so she can make her homework in year 2000-2001. well let say she made a mistake and bought a gaming-system back then. We got Midtown Madness 2 and Crimson Skies for free with it. For me (a 6 year old little boy who just begun with school) it was the best thing ever happend to me! And even now (i bought a fresh copy of crimson skies some years ago after the first one disappeared) I allways fell in love again and again. The series clearly deservers a successor! maybe for the new xbox one and pc that would be a great reason to buy myself one of the new Xboxes and play. because i will never ever forget how it was to play Crimson Skies and that PC back then. (sadly my loved pc got broke and i miss my baby) well that should be it :) Thanks Lord Karnage to bring it back to live.

One of the best games of the era. Shame MS just let it die. Maybe the BC on tge XBOX One will light a fire unde MS's ass to make a new one... But I don't expect much. If it doesn't say Halo, Fortza or Gears in the title, they don't care. I would buy an XBOX One for a new Crimson Skies... If I couldn't play it on PC.

Gosh I really wish they would make a sequel to this game. I remember how much I loved playing Crimson Skies HRTR when I was in elementary, and just thinking about how current tech would treat a sequel is enough to make me crazy. However, so much time has passed that I doubt anyone remembers this gem anymore. I think a new up and coming developer checked out the possibility of a reboot in 2013, but I haven't heard anything about it since. Oh well, at least I'll have some sweet kick ass memories.

(Y) this game is awesome!!! I remember using the DustFox (or whatever its called - the fastest plane in the game) and trying to land the plane on the roads of the city map. And also the Bulldog Secondary Gun, (the shotgun thingy), and the Piranha's Electrical attack :B Good memories.

Fun fact; the guy who made the flight mechanics in this game also made the flight mechanics for the Sabre mission in Halo Reach, and supposedly for the Broadsword in Halo 4.

This was my first Online Multiplayer game I ever played back in college. It was a great game I lost countless hours on, especially considering I'm not into multiplayer and flying games really. There was always people online at all hours for years after release...not the case anymore with most games. Good times

I don't own an Xbox but I played the PC version - it also was awesome. It had an easy editor in which you could build your plane from scratch (which engine, guns, missiles, armour and colours).

back in the day when the original (and superrior) game was released alongside the boardgame, there has also been talks of a movie, possibly directed by Steven Spielberg - unfortunately things didn'T work out, though Spielberg did meet with the game designers...just imagine what it would have been like to see this on the big screen and on a big budget!

This game came with my original Xbox and was the first game I played on XBL. Loved this game for so long. If you can, get a copy of Blood Wake for the original Xbox, that game was rad.

multiplayer was nice. it was like Mechassault only with planes. but EVERYONE complained if you used the plane that would disable your controls with lightning... and it was the only plane that i felt had any use...

Crimson Skies originated as a tabletop air combat game, and gained enough popularity to get a PC spin-off. The 2003 sequel was, sadly, The last hurrah for the franchise: though mostly due to stiff compeition from a burgeoning FPS-Market. I personally enjoyed the game: both for it's rich and immersive lore, tight-yet-easily digested controls, and the overall 30's pulp-aesthetic. My only two gripes are the relative brevity of the campaign and the intermittent turret/gyro-based missions--which I felt broke the pacing of what should be a quick and punchy game. But apart from those little gaffe's this was an extremely enjoyable game, well worth the price even today.

Someone got me this for reasons I don't know. I had it on the Xbox. Game looked great, but I hated it. It was boring, and maybe its because I had no idea what to do, or I wasn't paying much attention. The story was also pretty boring, but I never even finished it cause I couldn't take it anymore. Rare case where good review, doesn't add up.

I am a little disappointed he didn't show and of the acrobatic manoeuvres in this game as they are really useful for changing direction in a pinch, or that he didn't mention that the team that made this game (FASA) disbanded but a lot of their employees went on to make dark void, which is in a way the spiritual successor to crimson skies. P.S. I picked up this game a few years ago and played it for many hours I can't see why they didn't sell lots in 2003.

It's latest games were 720P (most of gen 7s are 720 native, up-formatted to 1080P) , had Xbox Live, wireless controlers u cld buy, a hard drive for storage, a great, dual stick controller and had 16x9 games. As I write, it would've survived to about 2008. By then, the 360 really came into its own and gave us something to knock our eyes out. They must kill gn7 now because to sell new games,they need a new console to get many like me want them.
