Excellent video mate, I second what Paul said regarding your how to approach. Plus you really do need a vice on that table, but then again it's nice to see your dad giving you a hand. Keep up the great work

Cheers Adam, is good to have him around to help, I do plan on having a sturdy work bench that I can put a vice on, the vice in the corner isn't best place for filming the videos.

I guessed you would have a vice somewhere, pity it's in an awkward position for your filming, but then again we wouldn't get to see your old man if you had one on that bench lol. Keep up the videos, oh and do you know when you may do a Bandit o'clock update

Going to do a Bandit update before Christmas 👍

Always a pleasure watching the video :-) Very relaxing.. One thing I thought about for you to consider was to just fast explain the function of the parts you're working on. Not a lot, and not to take focus away from the repairing, but for an example, when you did the gearbox (on the bandit) I would have loved to learn how it actually works, since it's not obvious for me all the time. Again, just a few words, and it's just an idea. Keep up the good work! :-)

HI Morten Hoff, thank you for the constructive criticism it's always good to have some feed back on the videos, I'll try my best in the future to explain how things work a bit more, I don't script the videos I make them but will do my best to include how it works parts 👍 Ian

Ian in all the years i have had bikes i have never done a master cylinder front brake, great video also i think it would be a great investment to buy a bench vice i don't know how you manage mate, brilliant....

Thanks Mark, was a learning experience for me, I do have a Vice in the corner of the garage but it doesn't make for good video shots. I've got an idea about making a bench to make life easier and to help with the videos, I'd say it will be next year before I make a start on it.

Mate these videos are great, really loved the bandit series. But I just don't understand why you aren't getting the views you deserve?!

I always enjoy your how to approach; very useful for the budding home mechanic. I have a question I recently rebuilt the front calipers on my bandit and the pistons were quite hard to get back in; they did eventually. I have put them on the bike and they are working ok; but I wondered if I should take them off and check as I have seen your video and some others and when the pistons are replaced they seem to go in a lot easier than when I did mine. Any thoughts? Thanks in anticipation. Paul.

Hi Paul, do your brakes work as they should since you rebuilt them? if they do I would just have a look to make sure all the pistons are even and if they are leave it at that, but with brakes if you are ever unsure of them I'd get a pro to check them over as it's not something you would want to fail while riding!

Is it risky using a metal pick to get seals out - does it matter if you scratch the ali casing at all?
@harrismagnum046 жыл бұрын
did you just put those seals and pistons in dry ?
@Classicmotorbikes6 жыл бұрын
Hi Harrismagnum4, I used WD40 to help them in and stop them tearing.
@harrismagnum046 жыл бұрын
Classic motorbikes maybe read about WD40 and seals, use DOT fluid only, just saying :-)
@Classicmotorbikes6 жыл бұрын
harrismagnum04 what does WD40 do to seals?
@harrismagnum046 жыл бұрын
there has been a long standing debate that it damages the rubber. I have seen it soften hoses certainly. Any info I've ever seen says use the brake fluid. Not having a go just passing on the info.
@andicog2 жыл бұрын
Best when rebuilding calipers is red rubber grease or plumbers silicone grease, neither will damage the rubber and the pistons will glide in, don't use wd40, copperslip or normal grease as it can swell the seals and cause the pistons to bind. As a minimum lube them with a little brake fluid. A dremel with a nylon rotary brush is great for cleaning the seal grooves out and won't score the alloy Silicone grease is brilliant in cables and lever pivots as well

time for a vice my boy thats twice in 2 weeks you could have done with one of those.
@Classicmotorbikes6 жыл бұрын
I'll have to admit I could do with a vice, I do have one in the corner but makes filming hard work, my plans for the future include a sturdy work bench with a vice.
