My granddad used to do this, I remember we went to my grans grave, I could have sworn she was there, he laughed, made in jokes. Whilst all I could do was stand and cry. We went home and shared a glass of whisky, which a 3rd for gran. Losing someone you love so dearly is such a horrible thing.
