Tank looks great to me. Maybe protect it with a clear coat if there's exposed metal or such, but keep it that way. Looks awesome.

Hey Taylor, what incredible content you have created. You have inspired me and probably many more to feel much more confident to just get stuck in to projects we would previously never dreamed of. I have recently restored a 1983 CB900F with no experience hugely inspired by you and the “Will it run Videos”. Best thing i’ve ever done so thank you! Regarding the 550, leave it, it’s a masterpiece you have bought back to life. Pass it on, although I feel your pain and need to hold on as i’ve only had one and i’m keeping it. More CB content please……

I’m old(71) so I am all for comfort and more upright riding positions. A lot of these newer bikes (excepting tourers) are not made for all day riding for us older riders.😜

Age 76, still riding my 15 year old Honda Shadow. Never understood why anyone would want to ride a bike with their legs folded back behind their body, or with handle bars higher than their head. But I am old and set in my ways. LOL

I’m restoring a 72 CB500! I appreciate these videos. They motivate me to get back out in the garage and start working on it. I say leave the tank the way it is. I’m needing a new tank for my bike. Someone did a botched job at sealing the inside of the original.

All of those options sound good to me. I don't watch the car content often, but if it's motorcycle related I always watch, whether it's Honda, BMW, Triumph... I like it all and I've learned a ton from watching this channel. I'm pretty sure you were being funny/sarcastic when you said you were bringing tools on the test ride in case you came across another broken down motorcycle....but that seems like the type of dude you are, someone who would carry extra tools in case you came across someone in need of help. Austin is lucky to have you.

@@dale7436 I had a Shadow VT 1100, but it was getting a little to heavy for me. I sold it and found a 2007 Shadow VLX 600, with only 6,000 miles on it. I had to clean the tank and carb, and put new tires on it. Now it rides good, and fits me good. The Honda Shadow 750 would be about the same bike.

I did ride one of these 1972 models to work, and everywhere else, starting in 1972 when I bought it new. Had two of them, as the first was stolen. Great bikes, and I would love to own an original like this. Currently on a Triumph America now 5 years old, had it since new.

I have a 75 cb-550f blue..w/49k miles.Still runs like a sewing machine. Can be started by hand using the kickstarter when warm. They are sweet machines to ride as it is so smooth and civilized. Hi-vo Chain makes noise at idle, then goes away after 1500rpm.running at 5500 rpm for 10hrs it burns 1/2 qt of oil, it never shows smoke.Had to weld on a long dunstal muffler after 2 original mufflers rotted out, the headers remain original.I hope you keep yours...Cheers.!

I think you've done a great job varying the content. I really enjoy the work you've done on the Honda classics but I also enjoy watching something a little different from time to time. Like when you work on the vette. Variety is the spice of life. Oh, and keep the paint on the tank the same. You can always buy another tank and paint it for show quality, but the original patina must remain. It's where the soul of the bike is.

Keep the patina because you'll use the bike more, I get the high cost of some classic cars and bikes making people reluctant to use them but I always felt a bit sad that they not used for the purpose they were built for. There's a guy that lives near me that has a nicely restored Alfa Romeo that I've only seen driven twice in the eight years I've lived here.

How do you get that new look back on the engine metal? Or does one of your past videos detail that procedure? I'm guessing sand blasting, silver paint, or I don't know what else.. That paint patina look I don't care for. It looks like hell. I'd paint it, with nice new paint, in a modern color.

Do you have to have a rego plate displayed on the bike, and for each bike or does the rego apply to the rider not the bike? In Aust we have to have a plate on the bike and it has to be registered to ride on the road. Keen to know and thanks for the vid loved it.
