It was a great day in August 1984. Nice to see the band sharing their memories, always great to see Mick get a chance to speak, very underrated and overlooked member of Crue.

I walked though the gate a little late, long lines. I live 3-4 miles away & had been dropped off. First band was already playing - midday, sunnyish.Listening, I though Motley who ? Not bad though - could do well. After that it all went amazingly. It's still the greatest show of my life. UNCOUTH ! That's the best description ever. Spent half the show in a sleeping bag, with someone who will remain nameless- I forgot their name :) I probably set a 1-day record for the consumption of alcohol. Some weed. I declined the acid. Laughed at the Drug Squad in their immaculate clean jeans with an ironed crease in them. I did some things that age & maturity prevent me from doing again - but I survived with no aftereffects. You have to do something ill-advised at least once. I call it the 1980's.

That day was rock and roll old school. I was there as a not quite so green 15 year old. Bottles of piss - thousands of them - flying around (some of them glass bottles) and people being laid out by them. Fights breaking out. There were dope-heads but a lot of drinking was going on. I was completely off my box. Every band was excellent and Motley Crue, who were seen by many as a soft U.S thing (most people thought Van Halen came into that category too - we are far more outward looking these days) but they did themselves proud. Excellent line up that year.

I’ll never forget being there in Nuremberg at Zeppelin Field watching them play. Coolest concert I’ve ever been to.

I love how everyone in the comments was there. They were probably in Dealey Plaza in 1963 too.

I was there but cant remember much about Accept, Motley Crue or Y&T, however Gary Moore was legendary. Van Halen were too much for me, too long guitar solos and Dave Lee Roths jokes!? I was there for Ozzy & AC/DC who were amazing, I'd seen them both previously at the Apollo in Glasgow. It was the year before I joined the RAF and I was only 16 still at school and travelled down on a bus with my mate big Jim Harvey from Auchinleck in Ayrshire Scotland I remember it took ages. I can still see the flying bottles of piss and the shit Tommy Vance got was hilarious. Still cat see myself in the crowd though!

I read a story that Nikki Sixx bit Angus Young of AC/DC on his ear or something & then tried to go for Malcolm Young but Malcolm straight up told him to back the fuck off 😂

It was my favorite concert of all time. I'm from LA, and was stationed right there in Karlsruhe.. partied at the Rotopunkt ,& Omnibus the night before, then slept at the gate... woke to a mad sea of rockers... Crue rocked so hard... Accept, Gary Moore (before Still got the Blues), Dio (with Vivian Campbell on Guitar), Ozzy (Jake E Lee on guitar), Van Halen (David Lee Roth on vocals), AC DC... wow what a scene... Most of my Army buddies hadn't even heard of Crue yet, to them they were unknown... and consider that during that time period, metal had no airplay.... establishment hated metal, all mainstream society hated metal.... This show felt like a gathering of excited in-the-know people... It was freaking awesome

I heard some people attending the concert saying Mothely crue, kiss and co sucked, while Gary Moore destroyed them in every way. I believe that more than Nikki sixx.

I was 14 yrs old, visiting my older brother who was in the US Army and stationed in Germany. Spent 2 weeks traversing Europe and capped it off w/ Monsters of Rock in Karlsruhe. This was my first concert. Big bro dropped acid as soon as we got there and the magic of the day got started. The germans were passing around plastic petrol cans filled with homemade wine (I think). It was pretty good and plenty strong. I have yet to meet another person able to "one-up" my first concert! Didn't know who Gary Moore was at the time, but all the other bands were gods to me!

I was there and it was a great festival, although Motley Crue were far from the best band on the bill imo. Van Halen absolutely kicked it that day, they were fantastic! I remember Michael Anthony downing a bottle of Jack during his bass solo lol!

Nigel Fortune Thats cool dude I wasnt meaning to sound like a Dick ! I have no way of knowing your age . Younger kids think it was all for real back then . I thought it was real when Nikki did it on the Girls Girls Girls tour lol Learned the truth later but it was still cool in the moment ...

+Aaron Manderscheid No worries man we were all kids once and didn't know better. I just remember at Donnington that year feeling shocked seeing Michael Anthony downing that bottle thinking jeez he'd just downed the Jack and carried on like nothing happened lol.

Nigel Fortune Yeah those days were Awesome and you got a show for you $20 dollars back then !!!! I dont go any more and find Rock and Metal bands these days complete shit . Not judging I just grew up in the 80s and that style is what I dig. The new bands where the singer growls and you cant sing along or harmonize I just dont get it guess Im to old . Plus Im a guitarist and todays guitarists arent even close to as good . Im sure there are some but I dont listen so ??

I was there in Karlsruhe, AC/DC by the age of 17 and it was two days before I started to work. I remember during Van Halen all the old women on the shoulders of bald heades soldiers. AC/DC was fucking great even though it was their worst time concerning record sales figures. I havent seen any piss bottles but a lot of drunks sleeping and I thought: "what a waste of money" because 46 german Deutschmarks wasnt cheap (but also expensive). The crowd was fuckin ace btw
