Grew up hunting in one from the early 50's. No seat belts, straight gears - no synchromesh. 6-volt electrical system. Vacuum-operated wipers. Starter button on the floor. No power steering. No power brakes. Drum brakes, but going downhill they were geared so low they didn't need better brakes - just take your foot off the gas, and they slowed right down to a crawl, if you were in a low enough gear. Manual hubs. Gas tank behind the seat - and Dodge was STILL doing that as late as the mid-60's! We had one in the Coast Guard, a std pickup, '65 or '66, that leaked. Dearly love those old Power Wagons. A ton of torque and ground clearance that puts any factory 4X4 today to shame. Wish the engine and gears could be heard in the video. That low-range gear whine is sweet music, burned into my heart & brain.

Wish trucks were still made like this! Purpose built, not for pleasure!

I'm a Ford guy but that has to be one of the best looking old truck. Looks like it was made to get the job done. I hadn't realized that they made it for so long. When I saw this video I was like, what? This is the same truck as back in the 40's. This thing is just screaming for a Cummings

I once owned a '75 Power Wagon! Although very tough, it was not in the league of one of these.

i've had a PW sense 1978, if there is snow and ice or ever mud where i need to go i take the PW. i always take a long bar with me to clear things that get stuck under the fenders i.e. rocks, mud hondas and such. long trips are boring.

Power Wagon lived up to its name. Install a 360 4 bbl motor and you get guts and speed.
