@@scottdavidson7001 he probably invented the stat of pass deflections because he batted down so many. Never missed a game in 15 seasons as a defensive lineman. Martin was the better pure pass rusher.

James Jones #23 always impressed me with what he was able to contribute to the Cowboys' offense. He made the most of the opportunities provided to him. I wish they'd given him more playing time. Who knows what he could have accomplished. 👍

Talk about a day of polar opposites: Later that same day (a playoff Saturday) was the iconic Chargers/Dolphins OT game One game saw total domination, the other was the epitome of back and forth
@tommythomason61873 жыл бұрын
Danny White had a knack for running around and buying time back there, and Drew Pearson had a knack for getting open. They worked well together. And, Tony Hill did the same on that TD pass. Bucs defense closed fast and was tough and hard-hitting. They were no party. Cowboys were revved and on top of their game...beat them just like they'd mauled the Bears in that 1977 playoff game.

Rare early Saturday afternoon playoff game at Texas Stadium. From 1970-1983, the Cowboys hosted 14 playoff games. This was one of only 4 that kicked off before 2 pm Eastern Time, and the only one of those played on Saturday. The others were all on Sunday-the NFC Championship in 1971 and 1973, and the 1980 NFC Wild Card. They had Monday, December 26 home games kick off at 2 pm in 1977 and 2:30 pm in 1983. They did play 4 early Sunday divisional playoff games at home from 1992-1995.

Damn I miss those jerseys white or blue
@GlennStern4 жыл бұрын
The blue in the jersey used to match the blue on the star. The pants were silver gray as well - today the blue on the socks/jersey is not the same as the star, and the pants. they wear with their white jersey's is a seafaom blue, no loner silver. The combo in this video is the best.

This was the end of the Tom Landry era. They lost the NFC championship game the next year also, then it went downhill. Today's Cowboys should look at these old home games and be ashamed. They don't protect the house like the old cowboys.

Thank goodness the Cowboys trashed the Pop Warner Bucs in this NFC Divisional contest which was not even one to begin with. Imagine if the Buccaneers had won this game, just think of how the NFC Championship would have turned out if they had played the Niners the following week in Jan. '82. The Niners would have clobbered the Buccaneers in that game. We would have missed out on "The Catch" if that would have been the case right there. We would have seen "The Massacre" instead and that would have presented a bad image for the league back then. I live for close games when it comes to Championship football.
